5 of 5 Great Simple System Friday, June 20, 2008
    A Customer from South, Florida

If you are looking for a simple system to connect up to your xbox 360, PS3, or DVD player and get great room filling sound, look no further. Easy setup and use. Great bang for the buck.

    5 of 5 Great product Monday, March 31, 2008
    Dan from Mount Clemens, MI
This surround sound unit is incredible. It sounds like a $500 setup! The dual optical inputs are a plus, that way you can plug in your 360 and another device maybe a cable box. Over all it sounds great, maybe some distortion when deep bass comes in, but I may have that turned up too much. The auto setup worked like a charm, you simply put the microphone in the center of the room and hit a button... it takes care of the rest. I'm giving it 5's across the board!

    5 of 5 Good value Monday, January 28, 2008
    A Customer from Chicago, IL
If your sound card only has analog surround sound output, this is not for you! It has 2 optical inputs, 1 coaxal digital input, 1 stero input, (and I think) has 1 input for DVD player which is the regular RCA style. I hooked this up to my optical output and it works like a champ. Good value for $.

    5 of 5 I wish I'd bought more than one! Friday, January 25, 2008
    Corron from Dayton, Ohio
This system is the perfect bargain. Having used it now for a few weeks I gladly would have paid the $399 regular retail price. The system isn't perfect, but you cannot beat it for the price. I have a TV, X-Box 360, PS2, and a DVD player all hooked up. The TV is the only non-digital source! System sounds amazing, setup was quick and painless, and all my games and movies are much more enjoyable now. You just don't realize how much 5.1 surround sound impacts the experience until you have it. I really wish I could find it for this price again, I'd by more!

    5 of 5 Very satisfactory Saturday, January 19, 2008
    A Customer from Seattle, WA
Works great out of the box - instructions & setup are easy. For $100 it works and sounds great! I'm sure more expensive systems would sound better, but this one is very good and cheap. Bonus - I didn't realize that the remote works for the XBox as well, so you don't have to buy a separate one! Great if you watch dvds on the xbox.

    3 of 5 Buyers Remorse Wednesday, January 16, 2008
    wayne from South Prairie, Wa.
I wanted to upgrade to digital audio, to replace my old Pioneer 600W. Pro-Logic 5.1 Surround Sound Home Theatre in a Box #VSX-305, that i purchased new over a decade ago for $399. I was somewhat disappointed about this unit in that; 1. Very limited amount of components can be hooked up without the use of "Switches". 2. There is no audio "Pre-Out", or "Pass-Through" 3. Sound quality is actually much better from my old analog Pioneer, than is the case with this unit (Both are 600W. Pioneer Home Theatre Systems). Go figure. 4. Odd, heavy-corded, Head Unit, that you must arrange into your set-up. 5. Poor arrangement of woofer just begs to be damaged. Now i'll post any plusses i can think of over my old Pioneer system. 1. Satelites are smaller than my old satelites by a 3rd. 2. Subwoofer is slightly bigger, not to mention the head unit you still have to deal with, but there is no bulky reciever taking up space in order to get 5.1 audio. 3. Price. I went ahead and boxed up my old unit, but i am going to keep it around for a while just in case i can't grow accustomed to the lesser sound quality that this system provides. In summary, if you are strapped for cash, or space, and want ok 5.1 audio, it won't disappoint. If you have an Xbox 360, and you want it all to coordinate, it won't disappoint. If you are upgrading your audio components to digital from analog just to stay with the times and/or are thinking it's got to sound better because it's digital, then be cautious. When it comes to your Home Theatre, a little leg work goes a LONG way. Find a unit that sounds good to you in store, then go online and comparison shop for it. Everyones tastes are different, from audiophiles on down. Only you know what sounds good to you.

5 of 5 are you kidding? Wednesday, January 16, 2008
    A Customer from haggerstown, md.
I find this to be one of those rare occasions when more value is received than money paid. What a great little system for $99. It's an attractive, quality built and feature laden product. The only missing link is a head phone jack. Buy.com's service was excellent and it was nice to be able to follow the progression of the order all the way to my front door.

I bought this system to hook up to my 360. Not only did I hook up the 360, but I was able to hook up my Wii and DVD player. (with some extra cables of my own) Sound is great and setup was easy. Great product for the price.

5 of 5 Pioneer System at the Best Price Ever! Friday, January 11, 2008
    C5Chris from Orange County, CA
I have my eye on this system since I saw it at a local electronics store. It is specifically made to compliment the XBOX360 - white case, no CD player/DVD player (which is supplied by the xbox) and less cords to mess with. Straight from the box, wires are color coded for ease of use. Setup is easy too, with the automatic calibration feature. This system is made for small to medium rooms hence its compact speakers and subwoofer. I placed it in the game room with our 2 flat panels and 2 XBOXes. Sound is amazing!!! Call of Duty 4 got a lot more fun, and that's saying alot. At this price, I wish I bought two.

5 of 5 Good Sound Quality and Good Price Friday, January 11, 2008
    A Customer from NY
Although I don't have an Xbox 360, I'm still quite satisfied with the performance while enjoying music and movies through my VAIO laptop. It's really a surprise when I saw how big the package box is because it is much bigger than I expected it would be. I bought it for $94.99 and with a price like this, there isn't any drawback I can say about this product. Worth buying, go for it!

    A Customer from Tempe,AZ
System was very easy to setup, color coded wires helps the process. Automatic set took less than 2 minutes and it was happy listening after that. Once again very good value for money for an inexpensive Surround sound system. Works very well for resonable size rooms.

    5 of 5 great compliment to the 360! Thursday, January 10, 2008
    Fred from Virginia
bought it for $94.99 and so far i'm really happy with it. I have no need for a receiver with video switching as my universal remote switches the inputs on the TV for me. gets loud enough to be obnoxious during parties and has settings for late night when I don't want to bother my roommates. plenty of power, plenty of clarity (aside from the THD rating) and plenty of inputs!

    5 of 5 Great Product Thursday, January 10, 2008
    Alex from Niagara Falls, NY
Definitely a very good product. I bought this because of all of the other good reviews but I was still a little skeptical for only $100. I learned my lesson to judge based on price, this system is fantastic! It completely fills the room with sound. I play Call of Duty 4 and Halo 3 on it and at first I would jump because I didn't expect people to be talking that were behind me and I thought someone came into the room. I would recommend this to anybody that is looking for a surround sound system for their Xbox 360.

This system is AWESOME and I recommend it highly... I had a Bose life style system in this room before on a 30day trial and returned it because I didn't think it was worth the $1600 price tag... This xbox system however believe it or not sounds just as good... Dont let this deal pass you buy... Even if you dont need it now bye it anyway and use it in the future...

This system is far more than I ever expected. Fantastic sound, tonal quality, and better pure output than anything from Micro$oft deserves. Forget the Xbox, hook this up to your home entertainment system...you'll never regret the investment. Still can't believe it cost less than $100.

5 of 5 Great small system Wednesday, January 09, 2008
    Crabby125 from Irvington, NJ
This is my second 5.1 home theater system I owned. (first one was a much pricier receiver/ and speaker set up.) Im very pleased with the performance of this little wonder. Its very easy to set up and it sounds great. The only things I do not like is that there is no aux input or another analog input that I could hook up my Ipod to. I am currently using the 1 analog input for my TV out. The other is the fact that you cant select the Tuner function from the receiver. You must select it from the remote control. These are not big issues but its something that should have been included. Then again, I cant complain much due to the low low price.

    5 of 5 Great Deal! Wednesday, January 09, 2008
    A Customer from Nashville, TN
Don't let the name fool you. The remote is designed for use with XBOX, but in reality, this is a tiny receiver with 4 inputs: 2 digital optical, 1 digital coax, and one analog. For me it was perfect for, in order: HD cable TV, CD, DVD, and VCR. Plus it includes a tuner. Because it was designed for XBOX, the remote is a little awkward, and most features aren't applicable. However, it is a great enhancement for our HD TV and other sound sources. It includes a microphone for automatic setup, which works great. All connections go to the subwoofer so that all that you see is the tiny control panel. It was perfect for appeasing my wife who didn't want a lot of equipment in the living room. This is probably not going to replace a home theater, but in a living room or small viewing area (the calibration microphone has about a 12-15 foot cable - so it assumes you will be that close to the TV) is really a great addition. I haven't convinced my wife to let me put the surround speakers behind our viewing area. So I've set it up and calibrated the system for Front Surround - the surround speakers are placed on top of the front speakers and aimed towards the walls. This is by design and the speakers are marked for correct position and the system is set to Front Surround when calibrated. At under $100, for sound enhancement, it's hard to beat.

    5 of 5 Great value Monday, January 07, 2008
A Customer from New Haven, CT
I have just hooked up this speaker system via optical digital surround sound from my 360 elite. The system really sounds great. It has both Dolby Digital and Dolby Pro Logic II. The digital surround sounds awesome in games and the DPL2 makes stereo sources (such as streamed video files, music from the computer) sound awesome too. I also have digital coaxial sound from my TV going to the system. One big plus of this HTS is that it has a lot of useful inputs. The sound quality is very good overall. I picked up this system when it was on sale for $99. Very good value.

5 of 5 sounds great, but the remote... Saturday, January 05, 2008
    Chadd C from Omaha, NE
I think this sounds great, love the performance for the price, however I want to use this unit with my home theater system. I can't find any codes for my universal remote to use with the system. All I need are volume control and I can't find any pioneer codes to work. A search of the internet hasn't revealed any either. So far, you MUST use the remote that comes with this system.

5 of 5 smashing good sound Saturday, January 05, 2008
    A Customer from houston, tx
bought it to hook up to my son's computer so he could play his video games with 5.1. It worked great and he was able to hook it up all by himself (he's 15). The fiber optic cable was not labeled or identified very well, so he wasn't sure exactly what it was at first. He runs this in his bedroom. He's happy and I think it sounds great.

5 of 5 What a Steal! (your lucky if you got one.) Saturday, January 05, 2008
    Josh from Long Beach, CA
This product is a rare find for the price. Amazing wide, powerful sound and has features usually found in more costly amps. Can be used without Xbox. If there are any left and you are debating spending the 100.00 bucks, get this, you won't be disappointed. Has a more upscale quality feel. The only downside is that the sub speaker is bare and exposed in the back of the amp/sub box. Not really a problem, but you need to be careful when placing the sub to avoid damaging the sub speaker. Also the remote lay out is funky. Other than that, this is a killer 5.1 surround set up, and for the price an unbeatable deal for a factory brand new item. I can't stress enough the WOW factor when listening to this thing in action. I even bought 2 of them, as this is one of those rare deals. Enjoy!

    5 of 5 Amazing value Thursday, January 03, 2008
    Dan from Olympia, WA
This system is incredible for this price. I have it set up in a medium sized room and had plenty of speaker wire to run both rear speakers around the left side of the room to the suggested placement. I mainly got it because I didn't have a surround system and wanted to get one for my Xbox360 and for watching football in HD, and it has been great for both. Bottom line, if you have a surround system and are looking to upgrade, this probably isn't what you're looking for, but if you are on a limited budget and don't have a surround system especially in a small to medium sized room, this will be great for you.

    5 of 5 Solid. Thursday, January 03, 2008
    A Customer from SF CA
I was able to get this at $99 + CA tax, so that made this a 5 (of 5) on value. I see that they sold out, so future buyers may have a different score. The sound coming out of this system, regardless of price, is good to very good (3 to 3.5 of 5). Some note a little thumpy base, but I don't notice it. However, I think the $400 MSRP, was based primarily on it's small size and unique features (X-box integration, 5.1 sound DSP) not it's sound performance. There are bigger HT in a box systems that sound much better at $400 or less. It is actually pretty hard to find this feature set in a small package at under $500, so I jumped on this as soon as I saw it. Ok, the wires are a mess, but that's what happens when you have 3 inputs and 5 speakers wired up. The color coding makes hookup easy, but still a mess. The sub is just a little bigger than I had hoped, but it's manageable and easily put out of sight. The remote is a bit more X-box centric than I would like (I don't have a X-box). Still, I am highly satisfied.

I really like this surround system for the Xbox 360. I am able to hear sounds that I had never heard before with just the stereo!! It makes Halo 3 and 4 creepier to play.

4 of 5 Very solid for the price - a few basic things miss Wednesday, January 02, 2008
    TheFootman from Rochester, NY
Big props for the multiple optical inputs, and I love the control unit. I am using this on a Mac Pro, so it's not on an Xbox, but the sound is very crisp in the mids and high end areas. The sub is a bit too "thumpy" and "rumbly," as opposed to giving me a nice, pure low-end sound (like the 12" Klipsch sub I have on my other system.) I also wish that Pioneer had put a headphone jack on the control unit. That's a feature that was on my $50 Logitech System that I loved. But, unfortunately enough, I bought that system on sale, thinking I could get a PCI-X card for my Mac Pro to get 5.1 through analog connectors. Oh well. This is a great unit for the $100 I purchased it for. If I had spent the $300+ it's supposed to be sold for, I think I would be disappointed. But for $100, I would highly recommend it to anyone.

    5 of 5 SPECTACULAR SYSTEM Monday, December 31, 2007
A Customer from San Antonio, Texas
Ok, first off let me say this. For the money, this is a spectacular 5.1 system. Yes, this is older technology but for $89.99 it's a complete STEAL. I'm thinking about getting another system to add to my family room TV. Now, by no means is this mind blowing Bose quality but it will blow you away. System setup is a no brainer. If you have no experience with audio equipment, this is a breeze. Everything is color coded and snaps right into place. Setting up the surround sound is a simple connection of a mic and a push of a button. But you must have absolute silence if you want a near perfect sound configuration for your room. My first sound test for gaming was COD4. Simply, simply an audio extravaganza. I heard sounds coming from this system that I did not hear from my aged Sony 5.1 system. Bullets whizzing by, when a commander talked I would face him and hear the voices front and center. Then I would turn around and hear the voices behind me. The second test was for DVD audio. Popped in Saving Private Ryan. Honestly, I don't have words to explain the feeling I got from watching this movie. It felt as if I was watching it for the first time all over again. The only thing I noticed was a slight buzzing from the sub when I cranked up the system really loud, to about the volume of 35 or so. Shipping was FAST and SMOOTH. I had selected the free shipping 7-9 business days and ordered mine on a Wednesday and had it in my hands by Friday afternoon. I may have just been luck to have the unit shipped from Texas. If you got the $$ to spend after this holiday season pick one up, you will NOT be disappointed.

5 of 5 Excellent Value and Above Average Sound Thursday, December 27, 2007
    Brandon from Oreana, IL
Just purchased this system a few weeks ago. Being a person that is expereinced with home audio I only bought this system for the price to add to a extra tv because I am a home theater addict and cant stand tv speakers. Well I must say this system is by far a SUPER bargain. Performance: It performs above average compared to other system priced below $200. The sub is a little on the distorted side at above mid level volumes. The satelite speakers have good clarity and perform well even at high volumes. Ease Of Use: The system has all color coded cables and is a breeze to hook up right of the box even for a novice or a first time home theater buyer. The process of adjusting the sound levels and tones is fairly easy. For those that want the system to do the work for you a mic is included to do the auto caibrate. I do recommend though to adjust a few settings to your liking if you use this option for the desired result is not always what you may want. Overall: Wether you are a first time home theater buyer, experienced, or just like the look of it to match your 360, I highly recommend this system. I only recommend it though if you are on a sub $200 budget though because if you are looking to spend more you can find better sounding systems for much more money. At $100 with shipping though you cant beat this system with a stick.

    5 of 5 Great item! Thursday, December 27, 2007
    A Customer from corvallis
Pros: the sound is top notch. There are many advanced options you can choose from to work with various settings. Also, love that it makes use of optical sound. The optical sound cable is also supplied! has a 2 or more optical inputs for dvd players and tv. Cons: I don't like that it has only one analog input

    5 of 5 good stuff Wednesday, December 26, 2007

The speaker system is excellent with XBox 360. Easy to set up and easy to use. The performance is great considering the amount of money you pay. It is a little tricky tuning the volume of Sub Woofer though --- if you can do it at all. You can connect the system to your PC as well if you have a 5.1/7.1 soundcard with S/PIF output --- interestingly not such a common feature given my limited personal experience. The quality of the soundcard DOES matter so you get what you paid for basically. I use a Diamond XS 7.1 DDL and it performs all right.

5 of 5 ONE OF THE BEST THINGS I EVER BOUGHT Saturday, December 22, 2007
    A Customer from Whittier, CA
So. This thing is cheap, under $100 is a steal for a 5.1 Now i don't know a whole lot about audio systems but the sound is amazing. First thing i did was play COD4 and you can feel whats going on, it was very cool. It was so easy to hook up, it comes with a quick guide and detailed instruction. I had it up and going in no time. I have a medium sized room and the wires were a perfect length to reach the back. There are plenty of inputs for all my stuff which was very nice to see. The other good feature is that everything connects to the sub saving space. This is a very nice set up, very cheap, if you don't know much about audio systems like i do; don't fear it's very compatible for the 5.1 newcomers. VERY NICE, A MUST BUY.

5 of 5 GREAT SOUND! GREAT PRICE Saturday, December 22, 2007
marksmagic from Fox River Grove Il
At first I was a little sceptic about purchasing this beacause of the price. I did a little research and read a lot of reveus. I was pleased to find out that not only can you use this for soround sound for your XBOX, but also as a HOME THEATRE SYSTEM. I was low on cash and found this was the best route to go due to the fact that home theatre systems can run in the hundredes. I also found that this site has the best price for this system. I checked another website that was selling the same thing and it was going for $400. When my sysyem arrived I was also impresed on how it looked and the ease of setting up. If you are on a tight budget and want your dollar to go far I highly recomend this system.

4 of 5 decent 5.1 system for the price! Friday, December 21, 2007
A Customer from san diego, ca
Ease of use: I bought this system for just basic setup for my computer. I just wanted some 5.1 system to work with my 5.1 sound card using SPDIFF interface. Pioneer 600W HTS-GS1 offers very simple way to go 5.1 at very low cost. I like the fact that subwoofer is integrated with the receiver and you don't have to carry around too many boxes. Quality: I am not very impressed with the speaker quality. They are equivalent to my desktops speakers. But one can replace the speakers to get better sound (Not sure if other speakers work with it because the manual advices against using any other speakers). Sub-woofer quality is not the best in class but good enough for regular listener. The receiver also offers lot of post processing features which are really great. Ease of use: 4/5 Overall, it is a bargain deal for your first 5.1 system. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to get into entry level 5.1 audio.

    5 of 5 Wow!...... Friday, December 21, 2007
    Leon from Long Beach, CA
You'll get your moneys worth with this system. Works great, I'm hearing sounds that I didn't even think were in movies and games while using it. The sub woofers a beast, playing Call of Duty 4 had me thinking I was in the war. You hear rockets flying over your head, footsteps, a grenades pin drop, and the air strikes sound amazing. If your planing on getting a audio system, don't pass up on this baby right here, get it now!

    5 of 5 Awesome product for $89.99 Thursday, December 20, 2007
    A Customer from Morrisville, NC
I wanted to get a simple HT system that has digital audio inputs. I did not bother much w/ the video inputs. My friend referred me to this system on buy.com for $89.99. I was little skeptical about the system performance but I read few good reviews before buying it. Now I have this system and I just love it. Honestly for $90 I don't think you can get a better system. Great surround sound ! Only concerns are the mute function and the display size. Well, w/ so many audio sources connected to this system wonder how they can miss a simple Mute button :-) Anyway, for anyone who wants to have a simple 5.1 for under $100 this is it. Do not expect a blast for the sub. I wish the system had a sub out. Oh well, happy w/ what it has in it for this price !!! Thanks to buy.com for this great deal but should improve on expediting their shipping process.

5 of 5 Perfect Solution for Xbox 360 Sound Thursday, December 20, 2007
    Bob from Garland, TX
Opened a massive box and found lots and lots of parts to deal with. I was honestly shocked at all that was included for $100. Fairly easy to set up with color-coded wires. The sub woofer is WAY bigger than I expected and the head unit is WAY smaller than expected. The satellite speakers are fairly small but heavy, especially when they land on your head (my fault, not Pioneer's). Overall sound is good, but not overwhelming. Bass response is strong and doesn't "blat". Where this unit shines is the surround sound. I was playing COD4 yesterday and a helicopter was circling overhead with startling clarity and realism. I'm extremely happy with this purchase.
