5 of 5 Avoid this product at all costs Tuesday, May 27, 2008
A Customer from Lincoln, Nebraska

This product has never worked properly. The support staff is terrible a fixing the problems and the software has too many progamming issues to have ever been released for sale. Shame on Pinnacle. Dont make the same mistake I did! Buy another product from another company.

5 of 5 Newbie - But it does what it claims Monday, May 26, 2008
A Customer from Placentia CA
I bought a HD camcorder 6 months ago and was not really using it to it capabilities. I bought this sofware to work on HD files. I was impressed with its ease to install and fairly easy to use by a newbie to editing AVCHD. Be aware that you do pay for each little plug in like titles and banners. But I was impressed with the easy of loading and the stability on a XP Dual pentium 2.2 Mhz system and 3GB of ram. I am have fun working with it. Easy to use interface. Do make sure you know your system requirements for the level of editing you want to do. HD required quite a bit more power than the base line required by the software.

1 of 5 horrible install, use and support. Wednesday, April 23, 2008
Vid Joc from Chicago, IL
This thing's effects keeps getting deactivated. install on a 2.8gz p4, 2gb ddr400 mem, raid 0 SCSI320 took over an hour. Activiation on a lot of features was a real pain. Diff key for each one. Disabled Features tease you to use them as if available and BAM! - it takes you to the purchase site - Annoying as hell!!! Roxio Easy Media Creator may not be as robust in features but is definitely easier to install and use overall.

4 of 5 Works well, but documentation weak. Sunday, March 16, 2008
Dan from Cypress, CA
I have used Pinnacle Studio 9 with some success so I thought upgrading to Studio 11 Ultimate would buy me the additional features I needed and would be worthwhile. It has been a struggle! So far I have found a way to accomplish some of the tasks I have wanted to do but only by persisting and experimenting. The documentation is weak, not explaining everything necessary to get a task done. I am left guessing how to do "simple" things, such as copying, modifying and saving a title screen. Steps are left out of the process in the documentation. They must think you know how to read their minds. So far I can do most of the things I want to do and I have hopes to do all my editing and DVD authoring, but it hasn't been easy.

2 of 5 Can't Import Composite Video Saturday, February 02, 2008
JQ from Omaha, NE
Don't believe everything you see on the Pinnacle web site nor on the tech specs about this product. I bought it because it was supposed to be able to capture analog video via a TV tuner capture card. Turns out not all are supported, but Pinnacle does not tell you which cards are supported. Turns out very common capture cards made by Hauppauge are not supported. Some of the tools are nice, the interface take a while getting used to since I have used Adobe Premiere and Sony Vegas as well and like those interfaces better.

1 of 5 Glitchy, Fragmented, Quality Reduction Friday, January 18, 2008
A Customer from Medford, Or.
I am pretty disappointed with the latest installment of Pinnacle Studio products. I've had Studio 8-10 and thought I'd try this because of a review that said this had the fewest problems of the other releases. I'm afraid that the end quality is sub-par, although #11 is pretty intuitive in use. There was alot of flutter in the video that was not on the raw footage, as well as frozen frames and an occasional weird pixelation. I'm surprised that this product was released in this form and I would suggest trying other brands instead of spending the money on this.

5 of 5 Great DVD maker Tuesday, December 18, 2007
A Customer from Harrisburg, PA
Excellent product. Made a geat movie that looked professional in a very short time. It played perfect in my old DVD player. Many transitions and effects to choose from. Only complaint is that the program locks up in edit mode sometimes. No problems making the movie - just took a while to compile in the right format and write. The product is expensive, but it is the most comprehensive.

3 of 5 Fair but not as great as it could be Monday, December 03, 2007
sncomp from Bath, ME
I started out editing 8 years ago on the old Pinnacle 6 and eventually went to 7 before moving on th Final Cut Pro. I bought this software to have it in my skills package as an inexpensive alternative to tell people about who can't aford the more expensive pro apps out there. I must say I was suprised how little the program has changed over the years. There is still tragic limits on the number of audio and video tracks one can use and some of the navigation seems a bit cumbersome compared to say a Final Cut. Maybe I've gotten spoiled using FCP, but I find the whole thing just clumsy at times and often not intuitive. I've pretty much relagated the program to producing non-copywrited music that I pull into FCP. Having said all this negative stuff, for the beginner its a really great starting place for the price. And after all I did create over 40 half hour tv shows using Pinnacle 6 and Studio 7.

5 of 5 Pinnacle 11.0 Ultimate Thursday, November 29, 2007
A Customer from Mankato, MN
If you do not have a supercharged computer, this is not the editing software for you. I purchased a new computer in October of 2007, quad processer and built for demanding workloads with arcitictual firms. ($1,850) This is my 4th year taping High School football games and I have created four 20 to 30 minute highlight videos. This is the first year compiling an HD video. Pinnacle is fantastic for a project like this. This year I used a Sony HDR-UX7 DVD camcorder and using the Sony software, was easily able to download each game and sort out the plays I wished to use. Pinnacle is much happier if the trimming is completed prior to bringing video pieces into the timeline. I used the Sony Software supplied with the camcorder to do this. Pinnacle can trim front and back but it occasionally causes the system to lock up. Have your task manager present to view and watch the workload of your computer. As your CPU usage approaches the 90% range, slow down and let Pinnacle do its thing, crashes are avoided this way. My advise: start with at least 120 GB of hard drive memory, turn off your antivirus software when using Pinnacle and keep defraging your hard drive frequently, it really helps. Great software, be patient and use all the features!! I have been using Pinnacle for 5 years, starting with 9.0 and am very satisfied. Viewing these highlight videos with a HD projector on a big screen is unbelievable and worth the effort!

5 of 5 Perfect home video editor Thursday, November 29, 2007
Clay from Winlock Washington
I started with earlier versions of Pinnacle and upgraded several times and had quirkey problems from time to time. I then purchased Avid Liquid 7 and found it much to complecated for my purposes. Pinnacle 11 is complete and trouble free. I also purchased "Dazzel" from pinnacle and have downloaded all my old VHS tapes and have edited them into videos that are worth watching. Thanks for a great product. Clay

1 of 5 Piece of Junk..... Tuesday, November 27, 2007
Peter from Philadelphia, PA
I am sorry to have to write that, but I am realy dissapointed with this sowtware. Here goes my short review. PROS: It's raly easy to use, I have to admit. Many setting, easy menus, this works. It worked with my canon digital camera. I was able to transfer the video quick and easy. CONS: After getting the movie into the program, I added some transitions and a menu. The problem occurs when you try to create the DVD files - IT DOESN'T WORK. It hangs, takes forever, never ends and I have a quad core CPU. I tried reinstalling, installing on a separate hard drive (as suggested in the Pinnacle forums - many people have the same problem) Nothing works. I wich I could just pack it and send it back for a refund. Conclusion: Worst spent money.

5 of 5 Pinnacle Studio Version 11 Saturday, November 03, 2007
Robert Krowinski from Buffalo, NY
Pinnacle Studio 11 is the latest version in the Studio family with many new features. There are three versions of this program: 1. An entry level “Studio Version 11” 2. A Studio Plus Version 11 3. A Studio Ultimate Version 11 All three versions can run on Windows Vista (32 bit recommended) or on Windows XP (with SP2) New features on all versions: 1. User Interface Design - The desktop is set up for capturing, editing and movie making. The desktop colors have been lightened up and adjusted for easier use. This is a big improvement over previous versions. 2. Scalable interface – (edit mode) allows for monitor-viewer with album display or time line area to be adjusted for larger or smaller. This makes viewing easier. 3. In the Pictures selection - (edit mode) you can easily select pictures in the Pinnacle picture folder to be displayed: for example pictures only or videos only or both. This feature I found is handy as your projects grow. 4. Scorefitter ™ - A music generator that automatically generates sound tracks. Scorefitter comes with 40+ sound tracks and the selection has greater variations with 48K audio for higher fidelity. (Scorefitter replaces SmartSound used in previous versions). 5. Simplified Web publishing – Users can now post their movies publicly on “Yahoo! Videos or to “Studio Online” which has private Web-Sharing with just a few simple clicks. * A note about “Studio” version 11. If you are looking for advanced features, like green screen/Chromakey, HDV editing and burning, you will need to move up to “Studio Plus version 11. Studio Plus version 11: This version has HDV & AVCHD (Advanced Video Codec High Definiton) complete HD workflow – AVCHD Editing – HD DVD authoring from standard DVD media. You have HD DVD capabilities from standard discs (I like this feature). The Studio Plus installs faster and exports files of any type at up to double speeds (on average). Studio Ultimate version 11: Studio Ultimate is a package that contains three discs: Studio Plus, BIAS SoundSoapTM PE2.1 with Ultimate features, and the Studio bonus disc (effects & more). Besides all the above a green screen cloth is provided. This provides a back drop for Chromakeying. Three pro-level programs (plug ins) are in Studio Ultimate as described below. BIAS SoundSoap (PE2.1) is a noise reduction program and it can clean in a automatic mode or you can manually adjust it. The program is designed to take out hiss, reduce hum, and scratchy noise. See more about it at www.bias-inc.com VitaScene Filters and FX (by proDAD) There is a large choice of professional filters and each selection like film look, blurs, lightrays, has variations that you can choose from. The same selection list pulls up the motion effects for titles and logos. www.prodad.de StageToolsTM “MovingPicture” lets you take a digital picture and create professional smooth, precision pans, zooms and rotation – all in high resolution – while maintaining simplicity. You can combine all (pans, zooms and rotation) and use the controls to get impressive effects. www.stagetool.com Summary Pluses: professional plug-ins many plug-ins for audio and video HDV & AVCHD editing Burns HDV and on regular discs Minuses: Would like “Scorefitter” to have more soundtracks, although you can easily add royalty free music for your project.

2 of 5 Cheap, but can work Friday, October 26, 2007
Bill from Kansas City, KS
This product is cheap, but it can work if it is in the right mood, your pc is in the right mood, you have the latest fastest software possible, etc. I have bought several versions of this and they seem to have the exact same problem. They don't run as smooth as they are supposed to and they crash a lot. Go to the pinnacle support website and see what is the number 1 fix. It's how to stop the program from crashing. All versions of this are unstable and take a very long time to get a good usable dvd. Plan to spend ALL DAY getting a DVD made.

1 of 5 Lousy Customer support no Vista Tuesday, October 16, 2007
brendancullen from Louisville, Kentucky
I had version 10 on my XP machine. Bought a new Vista machine with 3 gig ram. Version 11 will not funtion properly. Customer support has had me load the software 5 times and it still does not function properly. Most of the time I could not understand the Pinnacle rep because they barely spoke english. My ticket was escalated to the "gurus". Guess what they told me to do......Yep reload the software again. If you have Vista, don't buy untill they come out with version 12.

4 of 5 Alright for what you pay Tuesday, October 02, 2007
A Customer from Greenville, SC
I needed something inexpensive with enough functionality to produce a decent anniversary compilation. I particularly like the SmartMovie wizard which allows you to get a fairly decent "custom edited" movie/slide show without a lot of pain. Unless you have perfectionist tendencies, then the program becomes tedious, aggravating, and loathsome. Trying to make a music video slide show gets you about 80-90% of the way to cool, but falls short of the mark. You have to have a single audio clip just the right length for the number of pics (or video clips), and if you aren't careful it will rearrange your clips unless you uncheck "use clips in random order" (which is the default ~:|). I got the initial release of v11 (running on XP Home SP2) which has needed a number of patches since, and still manages to crash too often. Also, beware of installing the demo and then the real thing. I now have two sets of output file types and have to remember to select the second one or it won't output anything. I haven't been able to resolve an audio synchronization issue which is really annoying with clips over ~10mins (think of the English overdubbed version of Godzilla). All in all it is an inexpensive video editing solution which does enough of the details for you to make video production a little less painful and time consuming.

5 of 5 Powerful Video and Photo Editing Wednesday, July 25, 2007
AJ from Chicago, IL
What an incredible product...I feel like a hollywood producer!!! This is one of the most powerful editing softwares I have ever used for this price. I can create documentary style photo montages just like Ken Burns. It brings my still photos to life...my Mom asked where I got the old film from her childhood...I had to tell her that it was her old photos. The creative tools available in this product are too many to list. I highly recommend getting Studio 11 for all of your video and photo editing needs. So much fun to mix my photos and video together before burning off to a DVD.

5 of 5 Great for video transfer Tuesday, July 24, 2007
hank from chicago
I started with Studio 10 and got extremely disappointed. After trying to reach Pinnacle, I talked to a video professional who suggested Pinnale Studio Ultimate v.11. What an unbelievable improvement!!! It's easier to use and understand. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to transfer those old VHS tapes to DVD. Performs wonderful with the Pinnale Studio Movie Box. Throw out v.10 and get the Ultimate v.11.

1 of 5 Support Issues Thursday, July 05, 2007
A Customer from Allen, TX
I have used Pinnacle Studio for several years up through Release 10. I would be cautions with Release 11, however, in its early stages. I have six issues with the software preventing its use and Support is at thispoint slow and tedious to navigate. For instance, I have found that the Chat support game puts you in a 'queue' that, when you get to number 1 - tells you that there arr no support agents available and your only vehicle for support is email. I tested this over 10 cycles with the same results. Email support is tricky to navigate and, based on current speed, m ake take me months to get through the issues to make the product usable. If you're a Studio 10 user, stay there if its working until Release 11 is solid.

5 of 5 Solid and powerful Friday, June 08, 2007
Frank from Scottsdale, AZ
I have been buying Pinnacle for years and this must be the most solid product I have bought from them. Not only that, but the plug-ins alone are worth a couple of hundred bucks. Overall still an awesome and easy editor, but very very powerful. Keyframing of effects works great, the advanced still image pan and zoom is amazing (Ken Burns eat your heart out - wait, Ken uses the same product from Stagetools). The Soundsoap audio cleaning plug-in works pretty well and lets me use footage I would have cut out because of bad audio. Vitascene has amazing lighting effects but takes some time to get used to. I love the idea of the greenscreen, also works great as a blanket. Good product, solid editor, stable, fast and furious. BUT - make sure you meet the system requirements.
