This product arrived promptly, installed very easily, and the very first time that I used it, it preformed at least as was advertised.
This can be a surprise as not all items do what they say. This one does, and very easily at that. I used it to convert a VHS tape to a DVD. I'm using WinXP on a computer that I have built. Was this review helpful?

This item consists of the PCI card & the pinnacle software. The instructions direct you to install the software first, turn off the machine, install the hardware & reboot. This I did on a windows XP (home) machine, Windows still needed to have the software DVD inserted in order to correctly install the hardware. This is not noted in the install instructions & could confuse a non-expert. After this the hardware is installed & is found by the system. The software takes a long time to initalise, when it is first run, on my 2.2GHz, one gig memory machine, after the first time it is quicker to run. I have captured video from old VHS family tapes using an S Video cable easily and without any problems at all. But be aware though that you have to go into the settings to change the input to S Video if you are using this, as the default is the A/V inputs. So far the hardware & software seem to work well, but I have yet to try burning DVD's so I am unable to comment on this aspect. You will also need a lot of hard drive space to store the video files as only 6 mins of captured video used over 650megs. Overall my first impressions on this product are good ones.
