4 of 5 Good HDTV for the price Friday, March 09, 2007
Ed H. Chi from Palo Alto, CA

We wanted a good big TV, but not necessarily have the highest resolution on the market, and this fit the bill perfectly. It's not the easiest remote and menu system to use, but the picture is big and bright, and we're very happy with the price-performance ratio. Buy.com's shipping was efficient and fast, and we're happy with this purchase.

5 of 5 Nice TV Wednesday, February 28, 2007
A Customer from Santa Clara, CA
The TV arrived in three days with buy.com's free shipping. The picture quality is great for HD. Remember to adjust the settings - the default settings may not fit your eyes perfectly. The same thing for the on screen volume control indicator, it is disabled by default. You can enable it if you want to. Read the menu first, it will answer lots of the questions.

5 of 5 It's BIG!! Tuesday, February 27, 2007
A Customer from New York, NY
We ordered this 50" monster with come skepticism because of the price. All the reviews were very positive... So, there we were ordering this Plasma on Monday. We were pleasantly surprised when the trucking co. called on Friday to schedule the delivery. We got the TV on following Tuesday and we were impressed by its picture quality and the ease of assembly(what there is...). The setup was very easy and when I connected a indoor HDTV Antenna it picked up 31 digital channels. I'm sure it had a lot to do with where we live, because we live approx. 10 miles from Mahattan with direct view of the skyscrapers. We like the simple design and the ease of the remote control that came with the unit. Only thing We wish it had was a computer monitor connection. Other than that we couldn't be more happier. We heavily recommend this TV if you're not lookin to get the much more expensive 1080p. We now have it standing on a stand we already had but seriously thinking about hanging on the wall. Happy from Queens

5 of 5 Great Product For the Money Monday, February 26, 2007
Russ from Arlington, TN
I recently purchased this item and just received it last week just as promised with the 3-5 day shipping. This is my first plasma t.v and I am completely satisfied with this set. The picture on this set is incredible. The colors that this set projects are incredible. I looked at higher dollar sets such as Panasonic and Sony and even saw them side by side and can honestly say that neither of the higher dollar sets even came close to the picture quality of the Philips set. I am a little disappointed by the fact that there is no on-screen volume indicator when adjusting the volume and the quality of the sound is not the best, but hook up a surround sound system and life is good. I got this set on sale for $1499 after a $200 rebate and have to admit that for the money you will not find a better set. The only thing I wish it had was a digital cable card feature to read and auto-program the channels from the cable box. The HD capacities of this t.v. are awesome. Definitely make sure you are using an HD cable box with HDMI capabilities. Awesome set and you'll love it! Pay the extra $$ for the 3-5 day shipping. It's worth it and it costs very little. Great set and all my friends, even those with plasma t.v.'s are jealous of this set.

5 of 5 Great buy! Friday, February 16, 2007
Dan M from Holt, MI
Fabulous picture, especially with HD content. Menu isn't the greatest, but once you figure it out it's livable. For the price I'm not sure you can find a better TV.

4 of 5 Amazing Picture Thursday, February 15, 2007
A Customer from Malvern, PA
This TV is definitely a great buy! It has an amazing picture when hooked up to HD. The only problem is don't plan on playing video games on it because they will cause burn in. So in the end if you don't play video games or watch TV with a scrolling bar 24/7 you don't have to worry about burning the screen. I got this info directly from Phillips. So in the end if you want to play video games don't buy this TV. If you love movies and TV in HD definitely buy this TV.

5 of 5 Happily Surprised Tuesday, February 13, 2007
A Customer from Beaverton, Oregon
Short and sweet. Great value, great Plasma. I was a little concerned about Philips not being sold in a lot of stores, but you watch a standard DVD on this television, add a home theatre system, and you'll never pay $9 for a movie ticket again.

5 of 5 Awesome! Monday, February 12, 2007
rugger from Los Angeles CA
I got mine Friday, delivery by 3D was way late. Like 3 hours past the window they gave me which was 4 hours. It only took about 30 min. to set up and start going through the on-screen options. Warning: This sucker is big and a little heavy you are going to need one of your buddies over if you plan on mounting it or putting it up on anything. I still can't believe this sucker was only $1500. Well worth the money IMHO. As far as the remote goes, I will probably always be using my TVR remote or a universal so I don't really see the problem with it. I also love the fact that I can flash the software with a USB key. I'll give another update when I get my Apple TV set up and am pulling my video catalog off my terabyte server. 8)

5 of 5 50" Philips Plasma Monday, February 12, 2007
Gil from Bradenton, FL
I bought this set under a great sale and so far am very pleased with pretty much everything about it. I think the picture is about as good as you can get for the price. Delivery and handling through Buy.Com were problem free. I was concerned about a "snapping" sound in the audio, but I rebooted the HD box and that went away. Our dozen guests for the Super Bowl were very impressed. I'm hoping to remain problem free!

5 of 5 Great Value Sunday, February 11, 2007
Renly from Syracuse, NY
If you would like a Plasma BIG screen TV with a very good picture and sound, then get this set. You will be very pleased when you see the quality and features knowing the price you paid. I have seen sets that cost much more money with a picture that is not as sharp and clean as this set. There is a newer version of this set available with a backlighting feature that is supposed to be easier on the eyes while viewing, I found this feature more of a distraction and I don't have a problem viewing the set without backlighting feature.

5 of 5 A Great Plasma for the Price Sunday, February 11, 2007
A Customer from Westport, CT
With plasma prices finally falling to the afforable level, this 50" Phillips was a great buy. The size requires two people for setup (unpackaging and mounting of stand). The package came by truck and it was clear that the delivery people took care in transport. When I spoke with the trucking comany on the day before delivery, they said that the driver would not have time to wait while I unpackaged the unit to inspect it for damage (it is important to do this because of the terms of purchase with Buy.com). On delivery, the driver was happy to help unpackage it for inspection for damage --- just check the screen to make sure it is not cracked). I highly recommend connecting the set with an HDMI cable to your settop box instead of the standard RCA phono plugs, no matter how much gold plating they have. When buying an HDMI cable, get it right off Ebay for five or six bucks --- HDMI cables are priced at $99 and higher at retailers who routinely take advange of buyers. Take the time to read the manual on how to run through the initial picture setup using the remote. I found the first time adjustments to color, contrast and sharpness to be critical in creating the exact picture which I preferred. I have two HD screens (both LCD's) in the house in addition to this new set and while this Plasma has a superior picture compared to a 37" Olevia is falls modestly short of my 70" Sony XBR. I am using this plasma in a bedroom and struggled in deciding whether to go with a 42" or 50" unit. At a viewing distance of 11 feet, this 50" turned out to be the best choice in size. I view my 37" unit at four feet and the 70" set at 14 feet. The single most important variable in deciding among screen sizes is the viewing disance that you will have. My experience with Buy.com in the purchase of this set can only be described as excellent. I had confidence in buying from them because of previous purchases and give them my highest recommnedation.

5 of 5 excellant tv Sunday, February 11, 2007
cacanddc from Ohatchee, Alabama
I have no reservations recommending this television to anyone. The picture is very clear and bright, the sound is also excellant. I have it in a room that is 22x20 and it is perfect. The shipping took seven days, which was acceptable. Overall, am very satisfied with this purchase as the performance and price were the best around.

5 of 5 I grew up watching Philips Saturday, February 10, 2007
Nass from Brunswick, Ohio
Great product with excellent price. As far as remember our first TV was a Philips. Knowing the name and the quality reputation, I didn’t hesitate to order this TV especially with this great deal. It’s been 2 weeks and I am real happy. Everyone seen this TV at my house was happy with it. That’s why I just order another one for my dad. Thanks Buy.com for great service

4 of 5 Lack of Inputs and 720p-1080i max Wednesday, February 07, 2007
A Customer from Bloomfield, NJ
The problem I have with my Phillips TV was the relatively low number of inputs. Only one HDMI and three Component Slots. No VGA either. I currently have my computer and xbox hooked up through Component and the third input I have my cable going through VGA. If I wanted to get a PS3 I'd have to get an HDMI switch. Also, the make resolution is 720p and 1080i---no 1080p. However, for the price, this is a damn good TV with great picture quality.

4 of 5 Philips 50" Plasma Friday, February 02, 2007
nctrader from Cary, NC
I bought a similar unit about a year ago, the Philips model #50PF7220A/37. It has a great picture and I really love the unit. Only two things I don't like. First, the remote control will not program for other devices! You'd think on a high end TV like this the remote would be programmable. Second, when you change the volume, there is no indicator bar on the screen! Really annoying. Otherwise, I do like the unit. Geat picture.

3 of 5 Great Value Thursday, February 01, 2007
A Customer from Houston, TX
Not as many features as other comparable TV's (single HDMI, no cablecard) but for $1500 (after $200 rebate) what can one expect. The remote control is a major downgrade from the prior models. I hope the TV is not manufactured using the same standards for components as they did on the remote control.

5 of 5 Love it Thursday, January 11, 2007
A Customer from Clawson, MI
I bought this TV two weeks ago and am very happy with my purchase. I paid $100 more at a "wholesale" store. My brother has a 42" Panasonic and this thing at 50" blows it away! It has a nice feature that automatically adjusts the picture aspect ratio depending on the input, which I hear not many HDTV's do.
