5 of 5 outstanding remote with few exceptions Tuesday, February 17, 2009 Matt from Yulee, FL
I've used this remote for a few weeks as of this writing and my overall opinion is highly positive.
Cons: 1)slightly heavier than I'm used to, but not heavy (if that makes any sense) 2)limited selection of "buttons" to add (if not basic--i.e. page up and page down)
Pros: 1)set up requires almost no effort 2)touch screen is very responsive (and cool) 3)jog dial makes choosing input fun 4)learning function is always a plus 5)ability to copy volume from individual devices (i.e. I wanted to control my TV volume as TV volume and not have TV volume control my home theatre system) as opposed to a master volume copy 6)ability to set up "activities" for performing multiple keypresses (like turning on all devices for "Watch TV"). Overall verdict: worth every penny! Was this review helpful?
1 of 5 Could not get it to see my equipment Wednesday, December 17, 2008 A Customer from San Antonio, TX
It just would not see my Motorola STB. Very unfriendly manual setup. Had to give up and go back to my Logitech Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Easy to use, great functionality Monday, December 15, 2008 A Customer from Nashua, NH
I bought two of these when they were on sale (~$35 each). I figured I couldn't go wrong with a universal remote at that price. I was right. This remote was easy to program (tons of pre-programmed brands) and very easy to use. For my cable box (Motorola), some of the functions weren't pre-programmed, and I also wanted to use the TV volume control for the same device setting. No problem there. Just point the old remote at the new one, press a few setup buttons, and transfer the functions to whichever keys you want! I'm so glad I bought this remote. Much easier than some of the $200 remotes that I've seen. Get one! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great product, I was able to get rid of five remot Wednesday, November 19, 2008 Mark from Minneapolis, MN
The remote was very simple to setup because it literality has hundreds of devices already programmed in it and if a particular function is not working all you have to do is point the old remote at it and it will “learn” the function! At last one remote! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Best Advance Feature Low Cost Remote Tuesday, November 18, 2008 dgodesky from Severna Park, MD
This remote replaced 3 for me, and in 15 minutes was up and running. Very pleased with the scroll wheel design. I bought the SRU9600/17 model which appears to be identical except for a bit of face plate color change, for $30 from Buy.com and don't know why this /37 model costs that much more. But otherwise, very very pleased with performance and design. The touch screen is cool. Was this review helpful?
1 of 5 Should have just stuck with factory remote...Horri Monday, December 17, 2007 Very Angry Customer from Baltimore, MD
I bought this PHILIPS remote due to the fact I have a PHILIPS surround sound and a PHILIPS 32"LCD thinking it would be easy, user friendly, control everything. No...All it is useful for is not having two remotes. I would think that since all the products are PHILIPS it would work all the keys and functions. It only works half the functions and is huge and bulky as well. the only cool thing about it is the touchscreen interface but that is not worth the $80...DO NOT BUY.... I had a logitech remote before and it worked great. I will probably go back to that Was this review helpful?
