5 of 5 Satisfied with J&R Music Wednesday, April 22, 2009
A Customer from Advance, Missouri

I ordered this "recertified" DVD recorder through Buy.com and it was sold by J&R Music. It came in about 5 days, well packaged and it works and looks like new. I'm very pleased with the recorder and the price was right! Great experience. A+++

5 of 5 Amazing value Thursday, January 15, 2009
A Customer from Irving, TX
I had to return the first unit because it did not record. The replacement works great. This is a great price for a dvd player let alone player/recorder.

5 of 5 Can't beat it for the price !! Tuesday, January 13, 2009
A Customer from Chattanooga, TN
This DVD recorder is quite easy to use and, so far, all the discs have been very compatible with other machines when "finished." Only caveat is that the "titling" functions are are a bit cumbersome, but give you enough space for somewhat detailed titles. Will hold 6 hours of video on one disc, but the compression is pretty heavy, but that's to be expected. Have used a number of these type units and this one works very well with video from multiple type sources. The DV dubbing function was an added bonus, in that it controls the DV camera while you work. I'd buy it again, if I needed a second recorder.

4 of 5 DVD-R to Archive old tapes, etc Friday, January 02, 2009
franman from New York
I bought this unit so I could archive old VHS & 8mm Tapes as well as free up some storage on my STB DVR rig. Of course, there is some type of copy protection that prevents you from recording ANYTHING you've DVR'd from HBO.. thanks guys. But it's not the fault of the Philips (I guess). Operation is pretty straight forward and it integrates nicely with my new Sharp 46D82U LCD via HDMI. I have now made a half dozen or so discs and to be honest, I can play them all fine on the Philips DVD player but they are not recognized by my Laptop or other normal DVD players... I've been using DVD-R discs, as that's what I always use on the computer(s)... I've tried finalizing and protecting and still NG. Other than that, I guess it's OK that the only play on the Philips as long as it keeps working !! Of course, if it tanks, then I'll have a bunch or archive discs that I can't play anywhere else... that's kinda missing the point. I do like the way the unit works and it's very straight ahead to use.

5 of 5 Great DVD-recording for the price Wednesday, December 24, 2008
Vince from NC
I am happy with it for the price and with a older NTSC 50" 4x3 RPTV. The 1hr and 2hr recording has very good quality using S-video input. Pretty easy to use. It does take 30s to a minute to recogize each disk but it does not bother me. DVD Playback quality is quite good with component output comparing to my another Toshiba/Panasonic DVD player. Using DVD-RW provide more flexiblity for editing the DVD. If I have HD TV and programming, that this will not be the best fit as it does not record native 16x9 materails.

5 of 5 Cheap-n-EZ Monday, December 22, 2008
Russell from Oklahoma City, OK
Ordered this thinking it would be a cheap DVD player with an HDMI conneciton but actually it is pretty nice for the small price I paid. Instructions were included and overall I think I got a great deal on it. Of course it does not have all the bells and whistles but this will tide me over until the day comes I buy a Blue Ray or PS3.

5 of 5 Great price, good product Monday, December 22, 2008
A Customer from Spokane, WA
Price is unbeatable for this product. I took my recently purchased dvd player back to walmart and got this dvd player & recorder instead, for the same price! It is recertified and dvd tray makes kind of a loud sound as it opens, but I can live with that. Other than that this product is great and it upconverts to 1080P resolution and I can tell the difference. I would recommend this item to all who are looking for a great dvd player/recorder with HDMI output to enjoy a better quality picture and sound!

Roger from Cumberland Furnace, TN
Does exactly what I want. Must be smarter than a 5th grader to operate, but once you figure it out it is wonderful. I copy stuff off my DVR for my family. I think it is great!!

5 of 5 Great Value Saturday, December 20, 2008
Rick from Chicago, IL
I got this product for 49.99 with free shipping. I took it out of the box and it appeared brand new (even though it was recertified). The upconvert is really sweet and everything works perfectly. It has all the inputs and outputs you need including HDMI. Very satisfied with this product.
