Pentax Optio Z10 Ultra-Compact 8MP Digital Camera with 7x Optical Zoom

It does well with the zoom for normal pics, but the video zoom part of it lacks a little luster. Pics are good, good options on the camera, compact, easy to use.

I liked this one so much that when I dropped the first one after only 5 weeks causing the lcd screen to stop functioning properly, I bought a second; and I've recommended it to others. I have many cameras and used to have a photography business. A camera in this price range, this size and with a rechargeable battery that has a 7x optical zoom is rarer than hen's teeth.

I love the ease of set up and use. Light and easy to carry. Price was excellent. Went from a Canon I loved, to a Pentax and happy I did.

I have always had good luck with Pentax Products and this is no exception. Small and compact, rechargeable battery, 7x optical zoom, 5x digital zoom. Controls are easy to master and allow for great flexibility in how you take pictures. Easy as a point and shot but optioned for the more involved photographer.

I have the Pentax Optio Z10 - Our friends saw it, and wanted us to order one for them. They really like it.I use it when I would rather not drag out the Nikon. It's a good shirt pocket camera.

I have a digital SLR that I use as a newspaper editor, but was looking for something I could have with me at all times for posed shots and outdoor applications where there is little movement. My requirements were: Good zoom, fast startup, and some flexibility. The Pentax really fits the bill! The auto setting works well, but I really appreciate being able to change the ISO easily. This camera is great for the novice, but has enough manual capability to allow flexibility. Photos are still a little grainier than my Cannon Digital Rebel, but that is to be expected due to the smaller lens. All in all, however, I am pleased. And if you are taking photos basically for websites and Facebook, this camera is perfect!

I am very satisfied with this pocket camera. 7X zoom exceeded my expectation, I highly recommend a 4x 5x or more zoom on this kind of cameras. Only draw back is the screen is not bright enough under daylight, but it is out weighted by other features for its money (under $100)! I take it everywhere I go :)

Had to send the first one back because the battery charger that comes with the camera did not work. Buy.com provided a pre-paid UPS shipping label and I sent the inoperative one back and got a replacement about 3 weeks later. The new one works fine. It is compact, slips easily into a pocket and seems to take adequate pictures, though I've not yet pushed it to extremes.

Forget about the low sale price that I purchased the Z10, it performs as well if not better than any of the multi-megapixel cameras that I have owned. I like the fact that the lens system does not extend beyond the case. The zoom capability is more than adequate and pictures are sharp with and without zoom. One of the other things that I like about this camera is there is not any thumb wheel to select the shooting modes, which on my previous camera seemed to always get accidentally set to a setting that was not wanted. A great little camera!

The best camera you can get for this price!I've been had this camera for few days only but i'm so in love w it already!The qualify of it even much better than my gf's expensive sony camera,. When i went to the basketball game last time,I used it as a binocular, it can clearly take a pic from at least 40 ft away!!

For those of you caught up in the "megapixel-wars" let me just explain... you don't need 10+ megapixels. Ever. Anything beyond 8MP in a non-professional camera is absolutely unnecessary and just uses up lots of memory. Your monitor doesn't have the resolution to display a native 10MP image, nor do your eyes have the resolution to see the detail in 10MP. The only way to do that is to display the image as a very very large picture. Rediculous. That being said, the 8MP of this camera, combined with its many intuitive features and built-in tools makes taking great photos so very easy and enjoyable. Instead of just having an "AF" mode, there are user-selectable auto focus modes that assist the camera in knowing how to take the best images possible given the conditions. The manual setting for those of us who like to use them are many and granular in detail. The zoom feature is great and is encased inside of the camera so that the lens doesnt have to extend outside of the camera chassis... this gives untold extra life to the camera and saves on wear, tear, dust etc. Rechargeable battery-pack and cradle-charger included makes it all the more of a great camera. I've owned many digicams and know the difference between valuable and useless features. This is the best digital camera I've ever owned, and also the least money I've ever spent on one. You do the math.

It's simple to use, very light and easy to carry and looks cool. I like the low-tech lens cover... one less thing to worry about breaking. I also like the LCD size and the 7x zoom. A lot of great features in such an inexpensive unit. My only real complaint is the battery charger. It would have been nice to drop the power cord for one of those flip-out numbers.

I have been using this camera for 2 weeks and find it easy to use. It is light weight and compact enough to fit in my shirt pocket. The zoom feature is excellent. I took a picture from my hotel room outside of Atlantic City of the hotels on the beach. I was about a mile away and was able to read the parking garage signs! I took a short video, and it was crystal clear. This is a very impressive small camera. It was a bargain, plus shipping was free.

I received the Pentax, and was impressed with the features on such a small camera. Even though it's a discontinued model it will do the job for me. My wife is not intimidated by this camera.

I bought this as a take everywhere camera due to size and zoom length. Has not disappointed, although my other cam uses rechargeable AA batteries which last much longer. Still, I love the size!

My wife and I are very satisfied with the camera. It takes great pictures and is easy to use. It was nice carrying the camera in my pocket. I could not do that with my old camera.

This is a camera for the outdoor or with very good indoor lighting. The picture quality of well lit places is just very good, almost too good for a small compact camera. Also another very important feature, the 7x optical zoom, its the highest you can find in a compact. & the best part is the lens does not protrude out of the body. Also noteworthy, it is a Pentax's inhouse developed lens, and it is prominantly displayed on the lens. However, the camera does not come with shake assist, makes sense to have it on a 7x zoom lens camera, instead it has a poor propreitary thing to make adjustments to shake after the pic is taken. The user interface is pretty easy and straight forward. Some nice tools, like red eye reduction tool after taking pics etc. Overall, I would NOT recommend it to be your only camera... you will be disappointed with the super grainy indoor pics... this is probably the worst grainyness I came across in any cheap camera. Inspite of the low-low price, it is unacceptable for a camera to perform so poorly. It is a very good camera if you are an outdoor person and want to carry it while hiking, biking, camping etc, it is perfect size, high MP and high zoom to capture nature in high quality pics from a distance.

It is hard to say anything more about this camera than has already been said... except that I too experienced all the same good experiences. It fits in my shirt pocket, is quick to start, very easy to use and quick to close... exactly what I needed to get those usually lost opportunities. I am a Professional Photographer and this is a great little camera (and the zoom is phenomenal)... especially for the price, and delivery was really quick.

I lost my old old minolta (which is just a bit smaller than this) and finally gave up looking and decided to buy a replacement. In most ways this is better (bigger screen, better battery, easier system to use). I wish it had a recharge station like my old camara but I love it anyhow! I give it a 9 out of 10!

i have had it for about a month and love it. small, fast, and great pics. i love that the substantial zoom is internal too. you don't have to wait for the camera to shut down and retract to put it back in your pocket. nice crisp lcd, no viewfinder so you are hosed in sunlight, but that is common. if i had to come up with a complaint, it would be that the sides of this camera are a little too smooth, i haven't dropped it yet, but i always feel like i am about to! overall very impressed with camera. my first pentax, but won't be my last. menu structure is much better than the cybershot i replaced with it.

I have a professional quality digital camera but I wanted a small pocket size digital camera with zoom to carry with me. This one fits the bill quite well. I will still use my bigger camera for most of the pictures and video that I shoot for my internet use, but many times I just cannot carry that one. I have had a SLR Pentax many years ago and trust the make.

Small and quick to take pictures. To take advantage of the many modes it supports you have to read the manual, as the camera lacks the usual dial to select mode. Light sensitivity is not the best and pictures are somewhat grainy in low light and no flash, but that is kind of expected with the lenses size. Overall a very good camera.

Wonderful camera, simple to use. Has a 7x zoom lense (plus digital zoom to 35x), yet the lense works without expanding, so the camera is very small (no thicker than a deck of cards) and stays that way. Fits in any shirt or pants pocket, turns on quickly and easily so you are ready to shoot when opportunity knocks. Additional advantages are lightweight, face-detection focus, and shake reduction. One drawback is LCD screen (though big at 2.5") is the only viewing option (no other eyepiece).

I have a digital SLR and a Panasonic TZ5. Both cameras suit my diverse needs. However My wife requested a small "in the pocket" camera. This camera with it's fine zoom 7x optical and large 8 megapixels packaged in a small size fits the bill. She LOVES it.
