Panasonic TC-P50X1 - 50" Widescreen 720p Plasma HDTV - 30,000:1 Contrast Ratio

At 720p which is about the same as 1500i the picture is perfect-even at 1080p with a perfect source it is perfect now, I don't kow how the picture could get any better. I am a telecom engineer and am retired and watch it about 17 hours a day so if there was any problems I defenitely would find them. Other than the just format which I can't get any info on, I am ver satisfied. I went to all the expensive stores and couldn't tell any difference in pictures at all. Only thing I was worried about was the length of time the picture would stay the same so I purchased a five year warranty which covers everything and that cost around half what the tv did but is guaranteed to have same picture 5 yrs from now as it does now. 450 dollars is allot to assure me of this but I have bad luck with electronics and am very particular at having a perfect picture so for me it is worth it but maybe for someone else it wouldn't be considering if you put the same ammount out at the end of the 5 yrs and get a new set. The picture when coming from a good source is perfect and want to keep that picture so maybe I went to extremes to keep it which is the best review I could give for the set.

I can't tell the difference between the 720p and 1080p except in the price. Great clear pic on the HD channels, stays clear even on channels with live sports. The speakers could sound a little better, but still ok quality. It is hard to find a better 50" for the money.
