1 of 5Boils over with brown rice Thursday, February 07, 2008 Rod from Clearwater, FL
Possibly, the unit I was sent was just defective. When I followed the directions exactly, using whole grain brown rice, it boiled over for at least 15 minutes making a real mess off the outside of the cooker and of the counter before I finally turned it off manually. The next time, I avoided using the water level marker inside the rice cooker and added only the precise amount of water stated on the package of rice (which was less water). It still boiled over although less so. On both occasions, the rice was overcooked as well. I spent more time monitoring this cooker and attempting to correct its malfunction that I am likely to save in the next dozen times that I cook rice using a regular stove pan.
