LEICA 28mm Wide-Angle Lens with 10x Optical Zoom
Now you can fit sweeping landscapes into a single frame with the 28mm wide-angle setting. Pull in subjects from far away to capture even subtle facial expressions with the dynamic 280mm telephoto setting. Ideal for traveling, the DMC-TZ5 Lumix® 9.1-megapixel digital camera combines a wide-ranging LEICA DC Vario-Elmar lens with a handy, compact body. The Extra Optical Zoom function also extends the zoom to as much as 16.9x, giving you even greater telephoto power.

Intelligent Auto Mode Helps Get Great Shots in Every Situation
Set the TZ5 to iA mode and let the five Intelligent Auto functions team up to help prevent shooting errors. Intelligent Exposure corrects lighting differences, so images come out just the way you see them; Intelligent Scene Selector chooses the mode that best fits the situation; MEGA Optical Image Stabilization (O.I.S.) helps prevent blurring from hand-shake; Intelligent ISO Control helps prevent motion blur; and Face Detection helps produce clear portraits by optimizing the focus and exposure settings.

Big, Bright 3.0" LCD with Intelligent LCD Function
With a total of 460,000 dots, the big, bright 3.0" diagonal LCD makes viewing and shooting easier and more comfortable. The Intelligent LCD adjusts brightness automatically in 10 steps as the ambient light level changes, so images are clear, bright and easy to see day or night, indoors or outdoors.

30 fps High-Definition Motion Images and HD Output
The TZ5 can record motion images with sensational 1280 x 720 HD resolution at 30 frames per second (fps). You can use the zoom, too, and capture some truly dramatic shots. When you're done shooting for the day, just connect the camera to an HDTV and you're ready to view your still shots and motion images in high-definition beauty.

Special Travel Functions for the Perfect Trip
The Clipboard allows you to take photos of maps, timetables and other travel info. They are saved in a separate folder of the built-in memory to distinguish them from normal photos. You can print titles and other characters on the photos you shoot with the Title Edit and Stamp. This is great for creating your own postcards from a vacation trip. Input your departure date and destination with the Travel Date Setting. Later, during photo viewing, the camera will indicate on which day of the trip each shot was taken and the location.

1 of 5 Extremely Dissatisfied and unhappy customer Thursday, June 18, 2009
Cindy from New York

I ordered a Panasonic DMC-ZS3A camera from Buy.com on June 1st for a Father's Day present (June 21st). I heard nothing from Buy.com or the Electronic Expo company they claimed to be shipping the camera from for two weeks. So, two weeks ago I started writing to inquire about where the camera was. I had no response until today when they wrote to tell my the camera is out of stock! I have 3 days to find a replacement gift! When I ordered the camera it was said to be "in stock and ready for shipment." Being out of stock is one thing but waiting 18 days to tell me is unforgivable. I won't be ordering from Buy.Com again and I wouldn't recommend their service to anyone! Order at your own risk. These people could care less aobut their customers!

5 of 5 Excellent value! Sunday, May 10, 2009
A Customer from Portland, Oregon
I've only had the camera for about 10 days and am very pleased with it so far. I've probably snapped off about 100 or so pics and 20 hd vids and the battery indicator finally dropped 1 bar. I love a few things about it: 10x optical zoom, excellent battery mgmt, and the fact that it does HD video (with zoom capability during capture). A couple things to get used to still: 1) when taking vids in hd and zooming, the auto focus tends to lag a bit and the subject will be blurred at times til the camera adjusts (hope that makes sense) an 2) camera seems to be pretty sensitive to slight movements of your hand when taking pics even with the stabilizer assistance setting on...however, i'm still using the camera's auto settings that came out-of-the-box. i'm sure that tweaking the ISO speeds & other settings would fix that. Overall, very happy with my purchase.

Great camera Very solid,It feels good to hold and easy to use. Last week the wild mother mallard duck had 11 babies, I feed them ground corn and have taken movies and stills of them up close and far and they look great. I must admit it is hard to get all my ducks in a row :)

5 of 5 Great point and shoot Saturday, April 25, 2009
A Customer from Cedar Falls, Iowa
I have had any number of point-and-shoot Canons over the years, but this Panasonic is really something special. Luminous LCD, terrific zoom on a wide angle lens and easy to operate. Photo clarity is wonderful and, so far, no trace of red-eye problems.

5 of 5 Great camera at a great price Sunday, April 05, 2009
Charlie Brune from St. Louis, MO.
I'm very pleased with this camera. I have a nice digital SLR with several lenses, but I just didn't want to carry them around with me all the time. This camera has a nice wide angle (28mm) to 10x telephoto range and that's why I bought it. Note that several online sites say that it's one of the nicest telephoto digital cameras that is NOT an SLR (i.e., it's powerful, but tiny). The menus are very easy to use and it takes great pictures. If I want to take a picture and blow it up to poster size -- I've never done that but, hey, it could happen! -- I'll use my digital SLR. For normal vacation photos, family events, etc. this camera is very nice. I did get an extra battery and am glad I did so. I have needed it on several occasions. But it's very small and easy to put in my pocket. My wife has the DMC-TZ3 and loves it. Hers is silver and now I have the newer model in blue.

This is a very nice camera. Very easy to use. But is prone to shaky pictures even in the slightest disturbance.

5 of 5 A great camera at a good price. Sunday, December 21, 2008
A Customer from Williamsburg, VA
Upgraded from an older Canon model, and couldn't be more pleased. Great images, easy to use, and the camera has a "solid" well-constructed feel. I had originally planned to get an ultra-compact, but the features on this camera (10x wide-angle optical zoom and high-res display) more than offset the small extra weight and size. Not a "shirtpocket" camera, but much better suited to a wide range of photography. I've had it two weeks and the battery is still on its first charge!!!

5 of 5 Can't beat the combination of features Thursday, December 18, 2008
A Customer from Grand Rapids, MI
Doing some research led to the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5. I won't say it has the single best performance in any one area, but the combination of very good photos, 10x zoom in a very compact size, and HD video is unbeatable. Good next shot delay, fast power up, and good low light performance as well. Get a 16 GB memory card and enjoy.

5 of 5 This is the one Friday, November 28, 2008
Aly from New York
>Love this camera. I felt compelled to write about it after having used at least 5 other digital cameras in the last 10 years. Finally found this Lumix that combines everything. Its not like the tiniest canon I owned but then the pics this one takes at night makes the size no longer a big issue. I never had a digital camera I thought was worth anything for dark or night shots till this one. I've taken excellent night shots of the NY skyline at dusk, early evening and late night without a tripod. With one it would be pro quality. I never took a decent concert photo till this camera- for zooming and handling camera shake it is amazing. The auto setting is actually worth using...even the presets are fun and just right. Picked it up before the summer at 270 and now at a few dollars less its even better. Get the largest Super HQ card you can... totally worth it. Battery life is EXCELLENT. Once its charged you can play with it all day and take it on a long weekend away and not worry it won't make it through if you forgot the charger.

5 of 5 Good camera Tuesday, September 23, 2008
Dhruba Chakravarti from Omaha, NE
This is one of the top rated point and shoot cameras. The big selling point for me was the 28-280 mm optical zoom. That covers a lot! If you are the trigger-happy type, and tend to rely on the camera to figure out a proper exposure, the intelligent auto setting is not bad at all. That is, most of the time. The HD video is nice as well. Not much to dislike in this camera.

5 of 5 Great Digital Camera Ever~! Wednesday, August 13, 2008
ernytseng from Monterey Park, CA
I owned Pana TZ1 two years ago, and the flash just die one month ago. I do some research on 10X optical zoom cameras, and still feel that Pana TZ5 is my best choice. I got it a week ago, and I'm very satisfied with its performance. Pros: 10X(13.5X) optical zoom in, SDHC support, zoom-in during filming, lighter than TZ1, 3" wonderful LCD, 300 shot per charge. Cons: not compact size (about 1.5" depth) Recommendation: buy with 1~2 more batteries and 2 8GB SDHC, and one good SDHC card reader, and then you could go traveling~!

5 of 5 I love this camera!! Sunday, May 18, 2008
Lorelei from Lancaster, CA
This is the first digital camera that I ever bought. After looking at several reviews online, I decided to bite the bullet and splurge (it is a bit pricey for a first-time buyer). I am so glad I did! <p>Now, keep in mind that I am electronically challenged. Up until now, my only means of taking pictures was with my cell phone. And I have no idea what all the technological jargon means when it comes to the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5.<p> All I know is it takes great pitures!! It's so easy to use that even I've had no trouble whatsoever. It has enough bells and whistles on it to keep me "playing" with this camera for a very long time! <p>The macro setting is so amazing that I can see every little "vein" and piece of pollen on an Iris flower...and I was just playing around one day! I've taken pictures of friends' pets, and they all want the pictures...and this camera. I bought this camera for a future trip to Ireland and I can't wait to see how those pictures will turn out!<p> This camera is great for the casual user as well and more serious ones since it has both automatic and manual settings. The screen is easy to see and big compared to other cameras out there. But it's the quality of the pictures that stands out for me. <p>Buy this camera...you will not regret it!!<p>
