| | | | The Panasonic KX-TG2720S offers 2.4 GHz frequency-hopping spread spectrum (FHSS) technology for clear sound, longer range, and improved privacy. Use multiple handsets without worry of cross-talk or eavesdropping, because the FHSS technology randomly changes frequencies several times per second. Plus, an advanced microchip answering system records up to 15 minutes of messages and makes retrieval easy. A voice synthesizer prompts callers through the messaging system and identifies each incoming message with the time and day it was received.
This model can handle eight cordless handset stations. You can add up to seven additional handsets anywhere in the house while using only one base unit and one phone jack. This eliminates the need to rewire your phone line to other parts of the house. With privacy mode, you can block all other handsets from joining the conversation. This feature automatically shuts off when the call is completed. Or, conference one outside line on up to four handsets simultaneously. Share the names and phone numbers programmed in one handset with any other handset in the system.
Other features include a toll saver that allows you to check your messages away from home and avoid toll charges. Use the intercom function to listen to what's going on in any room that has a handset. Use the four-line LCD to view call status, programming options, directory items, and, if you subscribe, up to three lines of caller ID information, so there's no need for scrolling. Backlighting greatly aids visibility in low-light areas. The system records messages in flash memory so they're unaffected by power failures or interruptions. Personalize your ring tone to alert you to incoming calls.

I have the base and additional 7 phones.
The radio phone is the best and also cost $50 after rebate- less than the regular phones.
I tried few phone systems.
This one is the best.
Battery life is not very good, but after a year I replaced one bad battery that wasn’t holding charge with NiMe battery from buy.com.
The replacement battery actually cost less than the Panasonic one and last for days.
Overall, an excellent phone.

IN THE PAST, I PURCHASED THE MOST EXPENSIVE SIEMEN'S 2 LINE CORDLESS PHONE SYSTEM. I EXPECTED THE BESTAND IT JUST WAS GARBAGE.
SO RECENTLY I RESEARCHED THIS PANASONIC 2 LINE CORDLESSS SYSTEM, THAT HAD INTERCOMS AND THE ABILITY TO HANDLER MANY CORDLESS PHONES THROUGH OUT THE HOUSE. iT LIVES UP TO IT'S EXPECTATIONS AND IS LESS EXPENSIVE. NOT ONLY THAT, I VERY HIGHLY RECOMMEND PURCHASING FROM BUY.COM. tHIS IS THE BEST WEBSITE TO MAKE PURCHASES FROM THE SELL NEW, NOT USED EQUIPMENT, THEIR PRICES ARE THE BEST, AND THEY SHIPPED FASTER THAN THEY PROMISED.
RUN RIGHT AWAY TO BUY.COM AND BUY THIS PHONE SYSTEM. I PROMISE YOU'LL BE HAPPY. THIS IS MY 1ST TIME SENDING A REVIEW.THANK YOU BUY.COM AND PANASONIC. Was this review helpful?

I wanted something with two lines and an intercom feature. I almost passed on this model however because Panasonic doesn't list an intercom as one of the features on this phone! I happened to be at a local retailer looking at other systems when I saw the base unit for the KX-TG2740 on display and noticed "intercom" listed next to one of the buttons. I then went back online and looked at all the features and decided to give it a try.
One really nice feature with the intercom is the ability to page and transfer calls from the base station to a handset or from one handset to another handset. The base unit and handsets are all assigned numbers so if you know the intended party is located near a handset you can transfer the call to that station. Or if you don’t know the location of the other party, and you’re at the base station, you can page all the handsets simultaneously. Another really useful feature is the ability to playback messages from any handset for any of the three mailboxes.
The only problem I found with the system is that the handsets automatically recharge when placed in their cradles. Panasonic recommends that you charge the batteries only when the indicator calls for it in order to prolong the battery life. This forces you to place the handset somewhere else until recharging is needed. You could pull the plug and then store the handset in the cradle without recharging, but that could be an inconvenience depending on where the receptacle is located. And you can't un-plug the base station because it requires power to operate the entire system. It would have been nice if Panasonic included a button to turn the recharge function on and off.
I could go on and on about really nice features like the speakerphone function on the handsets- yes I said the handsets! And the clock radio handset available, but suffice it to say if you want a full-featured system that won’t let you down, this is the one you want!

Very sleek, highly functional system. I purchased the base unit with 4 add-on units (KXTGA271). Anyone considering a multi-handset system should buy this one! I highly recommended it. Feature rich at a better value than the Panasonic KX-TG2000/4000 series. BUT....this was my first bad experience with buy.com's customer service. There is a flaw in the checkout process - if you have a Bill Me Later account, even when you choose Bill Me Later, unless you change BML as your default payment method in your account settings, they charge your credit card on record and will not change it, NO MATTER WHAT! Not good service here Was this review helpful?
