 Editor's Note
Hollywood comes to small town America in this award-winning drama. The residents of Shelbyville, Tennessee, are proud of their hometown star, actress Sondra Locke, so everyone is excited by the rumor that she may be coming back to the hamlet. A group of five young friends (led by THE CLASS's Jason Ritter and THE O.C.'s Autumn Reeser) think that the starlet's return may be the key to their dreams of escaping the town, so they try their best to guarantee her appearance. Emmy winner Allison Janney (THE WEST WING), Cheryl Hines (CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM), and Keith Carradine (NASHVILLE) also star in this film that picked up the Special Jury Prize at the Bluegrass Independent Film Festival. OUR VERY OWN also marks the return to the screen for Mary Badham, best known for playing Scout in TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD.

| | Professional Reviews | Entertainment Weekly "Janney is compelling....Charmingly nostalgic." -- Grade: B 07/13/2007 p.54Variety 8 of 10 Small-town sentiment runs through "Our Very Own," as does a sensitive if not fully developed dramatization of the downside of the American Dream. Tyro writer-director Cameron Watson is a native of his story's setting of Shelbyville, Tenn., and an authentic sense of place -- as well as a stirring performance by Allison Janney leading an impressive cast -- aid an otherwise light and unresolved novelistic film...Burton is like a Southern cousin of one of "American Graffiti's" horny hotties, while McKee refuses to ham it up as a young man who doesn't quite realize he's gay. Carradine's performance is effective, but too brief.Watson's direction is as straight-ahead as can be, but the modest production demonstrates the visual bonus of shooting on film. Sight of the walking horse contest is quite novel for those who know nothing of the event, as is the appearance of Mary Badham -- Oscar nommed as the young girl in "To Kill a Mockingbird" -- in her first film role in 39 years. - Robert Koehler
