A collection of potent new stories that, along with twenty-one classics, display Wolffs mastery over a quarter century.

Annotation:
A modern master of the short story, Tobias Wolff includes in his new collection 10 new short works of fiction in addition to selected revised versions of previously published tales. Selected by the New York Times Book Review as a Notable Book of 2008.

Praise
"The 10 spare, elegant new stories here, collected with 21 from Wolff's three previous collections, are as good as anything Wolff has done." (starred review) 12/03/2007

"Wolff's voice is unfailingly authentic, while his embrace of the variety of American experience is knowing, forgiving, and all-encompassing..." - Liesl Schillinger 03/30/2008

Author Bio
Tobias Wolff
Tobias Wolff is the son of a charismatic, relentlessly dishonest engineer memorialized by Wolff's brother Geoffrey in THE DUKE OF DECEPTION. His parents divorced when Tobias was 4; thereafter, his brother lived with his father, Tobias with his mother, in Florida, Utah, and finally Seattle--a period he has written about in THIS BOY'S LIFE. Reunited with his writer-brother in 1960, Wolff realized that books and literature mattered, and decided to become a writer as well. In 1964 he joined the Army and served in Vietnam as an adviser to the South Vietnamese military. He then studied at Oxford, graduating with first class honors in 1972. He also has an M.A. from Stanford, where he had a Stegner Fellowship in Creative Writing. Since then, Wolff has been a university teacher as well as a writer. In 2001, he received an award for "exceptional achievement" from the American Academy of Arts & Letters.
