5 of 5 Four months now .... and LOVING THIS! Thursday, August 02, 2007
    Thomas from Milton, VT

Seriously. I wrote an earlier review regarding the first projector I received. Pretty sure it was a refurbished one that they thought looked new enough to pull off sending it back out as new. That aside (and I'm not happy with that action, on their part), we now have a movie theater in our house! Our living room has a cathedral ceiling, so not only can we quickly arrange our two couches into rows, but the upstairs can take overflow as balcony seats. Too fun. The free subwoofer and screen are very good quality. We were using a sheet initially, while waiting for the screen/sub/rebate to arrive, and that was enough to get wide grins from the family. The GrayWolf II screen is very nice. The images are clear and huge. It has HD inputs that I have yet to use. We go with Netflix and have opted for zero t.v., aside from what the internal antenna can pick up. I've been told that if you try to use an HD DVD, it WILL play it, but it will 'dumb it down' to the native display (not HD). I don't understand why it would do that, since it has an HD input, but if that's the answer, then don't fret on getting HD DVDs. If you're bored, run an HD DVD player into it and see what it does. Anyway, the remote is strange, not very user friendly. I would recommend getting a universal remote and trying to program it to run the projector. Something tells me that many features won't work, but it's worth a try. I've heard it costs a pretty penny to replace the remote that came with the projector. NOTE!! This will play dvd-r movies (home made/recorded), but like all players, there will be compatibility issues with the brand of disc you're using. Ours sucks when I try to play some Memorex DVD-R discs. Keeps pixelating all over the place.. very annoying and hard to continue to focus on anything BUT the glitches. I believe TDK and Verbatim have worked, as well as Staples DVD-R discs. Anyway, that's about it. Love this system and will become pretty depressed when I have to change the bulb and watch our 21 inch tv again, while waiting for the replacement to arrive. Go for it! *** This used to sell for $700 and $800 four months ago (then there was the same rebate on top of that) and I don't understand what their game is here. Do some shopping around. I think they show you 'other customers' who are selling it too. One's still going for $800-900. Enjoy!

4 of 5 nice product, excellent price, some minor design f Monday, July 02, 2007
    desinerd from Fairfax, VA
I got this projector on a big sale. It has really transformed my living room to a movie hall. Built-in DVD player, built in speakers; subwoofer and 92" screen after rebates, this came as a nice package. Worked right out of the box, just hooked in the power supply and was watching movie in 10 minutes. The only problem I found was with the remote and the on-screen menu interface. Remote has two set of arrow keys, one for projector itself and one for DVD player, sometimes confusing people. The arrow keys for projector are not arranged in a circle around the OK button, which makes it hard to navigate. The menu is not intuitive at all. Specs say that lamp life is 3000 hrs in economy mode, but again I haven't yet found the mode in it's menu. The brightness could have been better. 1000 lumens is too low for daytime use.

5 of 5 Excellent for Home or Office Thursday, April 26, 2007
    BERNARD from SAN FRANCISCO, CA
The DV10- DVD projector with VGA/computer or component interface is the best in value and for ease of use; the laptop/desktop interface is intuitive, just plug in the VGA cable linking the DV10 to the computer + select 'source' and you have your laptop/desktop projected, great for power point etc, or video files stored on your laptop. DVD is easy also, just place in cradle and play. Quality of sound and resolution is excellent. You will be happy with this purchase.

5 of 5 An excellent piece of video equipment Tuesday, April 17, 2007
    aknack03 from Avondale, AZ
We have had the Optoma DV-10 Movie Time for 5 days now and we are quite simply delighted with it. My wife had trepidations about getting the item and seriously questioned whether it would be worthwhile. The first time I plugged it in and played a DVD of a show that I had recorded she was ecstatic. She could not believe the clarity and size of the picture on our family room wall. The next day as I was going out I gave her a 5 minute review on what to do, and not do, and left. When I came home she was still very happy. Now my wife is hardly a techie, but the basic hookup and playing a DVD is so simple that anyone could do it. I might add that the picture on a commercial DVD is just a little better than my home recorded DVD. Access to my cable box is rather difficult but we will find a way to hook it up and then who needs a wide screen TV? Audio is crisp and clear and the angle of viewing without distortion is excellent. I would imagine that when we get the screen, included in this offer as an after purchase shipment, the image will be even better. And of course the price is right compared to other projectors that we have seen in the warehouse clubs. I strongly recommend the Optoma DV-10.

3 of 5 Word is still out on this projector... Thursday, April 12, 2007
    Thomas from Milton, VT
Plugged this in, turned it on, put in a DVD, and got a magical 8 minutes of the big screen experience. Luck of the draw from the looks of the reviews I've seen. I even tried S-Video in from my other DVD player (better anyway due to it being hooked up to my stereo system!) and got the same results. Shuts off to standby or completely dead after 8-10 mins. No messages stating the projector was overheating, or the lamp was dying (which it shouldn't since it's new!), etc... Just on and then off. :( The remote is strangely set up, but as someone said - 30 minutes and you should feel comfortable using it in the dark. The menu is slightly complex, but options are good when you get to understand them. I think most people will be interested in knowing how to choose the display options (Cinema, game, user, etc..). Anyway, I think I would LOVE this... if it would only work. In conclusion, an obvious statement, projecting on dark colored walls won't give you a very good picture. Put up a white sheet while you wait for that free screen. Hope this helps. And hope no one else has to go through the same thing I am. Getting a taste of this and then having to send it BACK! Ouch. - Antsy in VT (will update my review upon the next delivery)

5 of 5 Excellently Engineered Product Monday, October 16, 2006
    A Customer from marlton, NJ
Tested the DV10 over 3 days extensively. Very good product. Does all that Optoma claims. Very portable and light. Can be carried into any room placed on a desk or floor and you are ready to watch a movie on any wall. Product does not give out any smell . Remote control is good and once you use it for 30 minutes you do not need backlit on it. The DVD player works well and I have tried all , VCD's , CD's , Audio CD's , DVD's and feed in from my Desktop computer & VCR. Everything works . Ideal for families with small kids who have the danger of kids breaking the LCD screens or Plasma screens. Also Ideal as one unit works on all floors of your house, no going to the basement to see the large movie. The built in Audio is LOUD and plenty sound enough for a late night movie or kids watching a cartoon. on 75% loudness I could here the movie running in the basement right in my living room! The woofer if added will surely give me more. It is a projector, so it does require a dark wall , that means as long as the place were you are projecting is dark it works well. I usually get to watch a movie at night after work so it is fine for me. I have applied for the offer to get a screen & woofer free from Optoma, hope to receive it. (they say 8 weeks ) To end, a very well engineered compact piece of technology which is a very viable , affordable and portable option in comparison to large, extremely pricy TV's out there. I hope I do not get hooked to seeing every movie in 100 inches! will hate my other CRT TV's which have been faithful for years...!

    4 of 5 Optoma DV-10 after 2 months Sunday, July 02, 2006
    Shyam from joejitto@yahoo.com
I am still happy with the projector for its image clarity everything, but one thing that bothers me a little bit is the refresh rate of frames. While normally you never notice, but when there is panning of camera or fast object moving scenes, you see the image blurring and it actually disturbs your eye sometimes unlike in real movie theater. I fell Optoma should improvise on the refresh rate of their projectors before they even try to sell it for higher price. Everything is phenomenal in this projector, except for the refresh rate at times and not all the time.

Love the Projector!!! Received everything in perfect condition, started to play DVD on it right away. I was amazed at the clarity of the images and it really felt like watching a movie in the theaters. I would recommand this product to anyone who enjoys quality family entertainment and dosen't want to spend their whole month's salary to buy a giant TV. A++++ P.S. I play my XBOX 360 on it and it is AWESOME!!!

    5 of 5 Awsome Projector Friday, May 12, 2006
    Shyam from Silver Spring, Maryland
I am very happy that I bought Optoma Movie time after doing lots of research on different kinds and types of projector for home theatre system. The projector gives an excellent clarity even in econo mode and the inbuilt Stereo speakers are quite sufficient to give you a great experience even without connecting the projector to any other external sound systems. The noise level in the projector is very less in econo mode and in bright mode its still negligible. I hope to see this great performance for longer time with this projector. Optoma Movietime DV-10 is really a great value for the price and you dont really need to buy a big screen TV that is difficult to move. This is the first product I have bought using buy.com site and my experience is good and I already recommended my friends to buy Optoma Movietime DV-10 from this site with their great deal going on for lesser price compared to other sites.

5 of 5 Excellent overall Qualoty Tuesday, May 09, 2006
    A Customer from Fremont, CA
I bought this Projector from buy.com coupls of weeks ago. I have wathec few movies so far. Video Quality is very good. Colors are Vibrant, it almost feels like watching a hude TV. We have been projecting on wall, It still looks very good. Sound quality is very good even though speakers are just 5 watts each. I have only two minor issues with the projector. a) Projector is required to be on the floor since it projects really high. If ceiling is a bit lower, you need to actually tilt the projector forward to get image on just the wall b) Lens is fixed, so you actually have to move the projector backward or forward to get the right size image. These are minor inconvenience but overall Projector quality is great.

5 of 5 High quality, easy to use Friday, April 28, 2006
    A Customer from Washington, DC
This is a perfect product for watching DVDs. Not only is the integration of the DVD player convenient. It also means the signal is transmittet digitally and directly to the projector, which explains the very sharp picture. Check out the review on projectorcentral dot com. Buy.com sent it fast and I was pleased with the shopping experience.
