This item is really a nice small speaker unit. I searched the internet extensively and for the price and compact size with phenomenal sound you can't find better speakers. The issue others mention about the unit not closing with the cords plugged in, is a non-issue. It is like any other small electronic item, the cords unplug when you move about. It comes with a small bag that you can put the cords into. Well worth the money, but shop around there are some expensive units being sold...buy.com has the best price I could find!

Per the other reviews this little device works great. Bought it to augment sound quality/volume for my laptop to use on vacation...mostly for music but also for movies, and it works just fine...and my wife has already asked me to "turn down the volume," so I really can't add anything more ;-) p.s....service from buy.com as always is excellent!

I love it. The speaker sounds great, especially the highs. Bass is good considering its size. Furthermore, it looks great. The only not so perfect thing is that you cannot close the cover with the cables plugged in. Buy.com has a great price too.

Works as intended. Satisfied customer of Buy.com and of the JBL product. A great and attractive travel item. Sounds good and strong. Uses small 120-240V AC adapter and/or 4-AAA batteries.

For the size and the price, this one is the best. Sleek and easy to pack, it looks great as part of a mobile business presentation, but also makes a hotel room a lot more bearable. Great crisp and wide sound, surprisingly great, and volume that, like someone said before, doesn't quite take it outside for the entire barbeque but does the job for just about everything else. I have several, and keep one on the one desk in the house that doesn't already have a bose companion 2 set on it. I bought three more--holiday gifts made easy.

I am very pleased with the sound quality of the speakers. It is also really nice that I can use it for other things other then just my IPOD. This is a very quality item and I highly recommend it.

When it's time to pop out the ear buds and share the music, the On Tour does a great job. I'm glad I bought this unit. What I Like: -- Surprisingly rich sound for such small speakers. -- Small size--fits nicely in my padded camera bag, along with the media player, phones, cords, batteries, etc. -- Sturdy construction: feels solid, build quality is good. -- The sliding cover shields the speaker from impacts etc., and is easy to use. What I Don't Like: -- It doesn't have an On/Off switch. The manual says that it turns off when the cover is closed. However, the input cable must be removed each time the cover is closed, which is not only inconvenient but might result in excessive wear on the line-in jack. The unit has an "intelligent power management system" that is supposed to conserve the batteries when no input signal is present (whether the cover is closed or not). If this works, then an On/Off switch wouldn't be needed. I haven't had the unit long enough to observe whether it works or not. Would I Buy It Again: Yes.

Wow - it is amazing the sound that comes from these small speakers. Very portable - great for traveling or taking to work. The only downfall is that is doesn't charge your IPOD when playing. But you can always dock it and hook it up from there. What a deal for the money!

Just received these speakers and was pleasently surprised at the tone/quality. They are small but the sound that comes out of them is anything but small. I am especially pleased that I have found a product that will support any device that has a headphone jack. The market seems to only be making accessories for the ipod and not all of us are ipod folks. Also want to mention that buy.com is extremely fast with their delivery - ordered this on Sunday, requested regular shipping and I had it on Wednesday. Also buy.com had the lowest price I could find...truly a winning combination. I don't think you'll be sorry you purchased these speakers.

This item is your ideal travel companion for your IPOD when you are away from home or office and wish to hear your music played through speakers. I travel quite a bit for business and pleasure and these speakers allow me to listen to the music I like while in a hotel room. The sound is more than satisfactory concerning the size of the speakers and the clamshell design makes the unit ideal for travel. I will admit the Bose speaker system for IPOD has a richer and fuller sound, but on the other hand it does not travel as well. If you're looking for a compact and easy way to take full room sound with you on the go, I highly recommend the JBL On Tour Speakers.

I use mini speakers to play both music and audio from precanned powerpoint presentations. So I needed something compact and powerful. I was a little skeptical at first because these speakers actually lay on their back and reflect off the ceiling. But they've been clear and loud in a large conference room, and do very well with DVDs or MP3s. They tuck away nicely and the AC adapter is very small and light. They are my new all purpose speaker system.

I run workshops from coast to coast using PowerPoint loaded with videos and sound bites. I got tired carting around larger speakers and decided to try these. I was pleasantly surprised at their good, full sound, even from the back of a classroom. People come up to me afterwards to see how I was able to get such good sound from such a small package.

I just wanted to let you all know that these speakers are Fantastic, Great sound quality and power as well. I used the AC adapter that come with the speakers, I have not yet tryied it on battery power. Im sure the power is just as good. This is a fine product and I must have for all of us with Mp3 players and CD players. You get what you pay for and with this product its worth ever cent.

I have a thinkpad laptop, and the crappy onboard speakers leave a lot to be desired. I ordered the JBL on tour speakers, expecting something of resonable sound quality and construction. These are quite amazing, to be honest. There is a light that seems to indicate low voltage when running on batteries, so when the batteries are fully charged, these speakers can really pump it out. The sound quality is very full, and the range is excellent. The product also includes a self-storing enclosure to protect the speakers. Overall, whether on fully charged batteries or the included AC adapter, this device does eveything I expected and more.
