5 of 5 Great memory for the price Sunday, August 31, 2008 A Customer from Leesburg, VA
This was the memory I included in my PC when it was built and the additional 2GB makes it run even better. My system is slightly overclocked and no issues at all. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 easy install, good price Saturday, August 09, 2008 A Customer from Newton, MA
I picked these memory modules mostly because of price. Adding 2gb to my existing 1gb was easy, though I have to admit I'm not seeing any dramatic performance differences, probably because I don't do very demanding things with my PC. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Nice Performance Unbeatable Price Friday, July 18, 2008 A Customer from Colorado
If you're building a budget computer its hard to beat this ram when its on sale... all four sticks (2 from newegg) worked fine from the first boot! They are sitting in a Evga 750i FTW board with a Q6600 and is smokin fast even with the board's beta bios to fix optical SATA errors and the infamous video bug. However it only recognizes 2.75 gigs in XP because of the mobo bios, vista would see all 4gigs. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Item as described Saturday, March 29, 2008 Brian from Long Island

This was a great drop-in computer speed-up! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 work like a charm Monday, January 21, 2008 SAK from Stratford, CT
it is one of the best so far, I tried other brands and ended up returning them, OCZ was already installed in my one workstation and working without any issues or trouble so I decided to stick with the brand after trying others; I bought this one and its work like a charm. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Should be better Friday, January 18, 2008 Mr.Greedy from Philly, PA
I bought this RAM for my new rig of Q6600 overclocked to 8x400FSB. These sticks perform very well at 9x333FSB at 4-4-4-15, but not at 8x400FSB. I tried to raise the core voltage, DRAM voltage and NB, SB voltage as well to no avail. In the end, I ended up with 8x400FSB and 5-5-5-15 CR2 timings.
Work well overall, but not very recommended for overclockers like me. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Drop them in and they work Wednesday, January 16, 2008 tldmat from Los Angeles, CA
How much can you say about memory. Get the right speed and configuration and you should be fine. I got this pair, opened my case and dropped them in. Turned the unit back on and 2 gigs more memory.
My only advice is to be sure you are running the voltage for your memory at 2.0v otherwise they might act flakey. This is usually done through a BIOS setting. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 It's ALIVE... Wednesday, January 16, 2008 A Customer from Allentown, PA
Received this, threw it onto my ASUS P5N-E to bring my memory up to 4GB. It works great and I've had no problems so far. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great Memory!!! Wednesday, January 16, 2008 A Customer from Pine Brook, NJ
This memory is the best upgrade I have done to my system at such a bargain. I would buy another to make it a 4GB system...more is better!

This memory require 1.9-2.0 voltage - not all motherboards let you change memory voltage from standard 1.8V.
This memory won't work on those. At least not at 800Mhz. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 great value performance mem Thursday, January 10, 2008 A Customer from Plano, TX
I was a little worried about the spec that it takes higher voltage than the normal memories. But it worked in a low end mobo right out of the box without changing any bios setting. Raised the memory voltage to 1.9V and overclocked the CPU (together with the RAM) and it is very stable. If the rebate comes, it is going to be a great bargin. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great item suits to my needs Friday, December 21, 2007 Fakhir from Stillwater, Oklahoma
If you are looking for getting a little performance boost in your computer but at the same time not wanting to pay more, this is the way to go!!! I bought the first set of two memory sticks 1 month ago. Was really amazed by the performance, so went ahead and bought this pair for the same incredible price. Easy to install and performance RIGHT AWAY!!! Great Item Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Voltage problems Friday, December 14, 2007 A Customer from Smyrna, GA
Very good... but remember the voltage for the memory is somewhere between 1.9-2.1. At first I thought I had a bad stick of memory until I took out one stick of memory, booted up and changed the memory voltage to 1.95. When I thought it was bad memory I opened a ticket with OCZ... experience was OK. They responded once every 12 hours or so. When I was going to return it they were going to make me pay for the shipping to get it back (even dell will pay the shipping for you if you ship something back). So service-wise between the late responses and shipping, then only assuming that the rest of the process matched that I have to give them a 3.5. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Had these for a couple of months, no problems Tuesday, November 27, 2007 Dan from Gladstone, MO
Easy to install, no problems after the install, have worked perfectly for the past two months. Good Value. I paid 60 after rebate, now they are cheaper. Really good deal now. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Hey, it works Tuesday, November 20, 2007 A Customer from Ohio
I run it at 2.0v 5-5-5 and it works very well.
Some folks have stated on other reviews that it is unstable at (the default on some motherboards) 1.8v. It is easy enough to address that issue in BIOS.
I guess there is not much you can say about RAM other than than "it works as stated and does not physically break in the 1 minute you have to handle it." Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Compatible with higher-end custom rigs only Wednesday, November 14, 2007 MrPeter from Olympia, WA
It's great ram that performs well, but will not be detected by your HP or Dell in most cases. You have to be able to up the DRAM voltage on your motherboard from its defaualt (usually 1.8v) to 2.0 to get this ram to run properly or post at all.
This ram will not run on any Intel Desktop Motherboards.
If you can get it to run, this is a fantastic value and performs well. Be sure you have an option in your BIOS to change the DRAM Voltage before you buy. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Smokin' RAM -- If only it had been this cheap the Friday, October 05, 2007 Grez from Ashburn, VA
I just bought my 2nd set of 2Gb matched sticks of the OCZ Platinum DDR2 PC6400 RAM. When I bought my first set, it cost me $280...and it was worth every penny. I run them at the advertised 4-4-4-15...at 1T. The 1T is important, for those new to memory stats, because it describes the number of clock cycles necessary for exchange with the RAM. Most DDR2 RAM, whether at low or high speeds, runs at 2T. That is one of the things that makes this memory stand out from the competition. The 1T rate makes it incredibly responsive.
Now, I have not found this RAM to be the best overclocking RAM...that's ok by me, as I only take "free" overclocks, anyway (i.e., I bump things enough so that I squeeze some more performance out of my system, but not enough to cause any significant heat increase...I'd rather pay a few bucks more for a faster CPU if I need it). So my AMD X2 5200+ has been overclocked from dual 2.6GHz to about 2.75GHz. I tried running it up higher, but with the tight timings on the RAM, it just wasn't stable over 2.8GHz. Now, if you're willing to loosen the timings, I'm sure you could push things to 3.0GHz, but that sort of negates the point of buying RAM as responsive as the platinum series. So, I've stuck with a small overclock, no heat issues, and DDR2 that is so responsive that I can actually tell the difference...and I've been really happy with that.
It's not at all shabby in the aesthetics department, either. The honeycomb-punched platinum-color heat spreaders look great, and are effective as well. I was not able to implement the active cooler I wanted for my RAM due to conflicts with my CPU's heat sink (Thermalright Ultra-90). But there has been no problem with heat...the sinks on this RAM are effective, and with good airflow in my case, things stay plenty cool.
At $88 for 2Gb, this RAM is incredibly affordable now. And with the current rebate, making it $53 _shipped_ to buy, it's an outright steal. You'd be completely crazy not to pick this up if you're at all thinking about a RAM upgrade. I was so happy with the first set, I bought it again for the new family rig I'm building.
With one or two exceptions, OCZ makes very high quality products, and this DDR2 is a prime example. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Installed in a new Dell Inspiron, no problems Tuesday, September 25, 2007 Dan from Gladstone, MO
Installed easily in a new Dell Inspiron 531. Booted up and the extra memory was there. Vista seems to appreciate it. Still waiting on the rebate, it is not late, yet. However, Buy.com totally ignores any requests for help concerning rebates, even though they are ultimately responsible as the advertising retailer, so I hope that this one comes. 5 of 5 Running great at 4-4-4-12 Tuesday, September 25, 2007 Alex from Bellevue, WA
Very happy with the ram. It's running great at 4-4-4-12, 2.0v, paired with another two sticks of Crucial Ballistix RAM. I was worried I'd have to slow everything down to 4-4-4-15, but memtest shows everything is stable. Was this review helpful?
3 of 5 Compatible? Monday, August 27, 2007 A Customer from VA
Greet price, excellent memory but not compatible with a lot of standard systems motherboards. The 1.9-2.0V and latency can cause issues. If your system is compatible it's a great deal. Was this review helpful?
