5 of 5 Works Great for Me! Monday, April 28, 2008 Demitrius Lopez from Irvine CA
I am using this program to journal. It allows me to focus on my thoughts and not my typing, although I am a pretty competent typist; 90 wpm. I find it performs very well! And if you take the time to "train" it further (optional), then its accuracy improves even more. I read and followed all of the on-screen directions. I have invested about an hour of my time in "training" my profile and I'll probably invest another hour more. I am VERY pleased with this program. I have and will continue to recommend it to my friends. If you buy it, be SURE to follow the on-screen directions to the letter and invest some time in training your profile. Was this review helpful?

Definite improvement over previous version (5.0) which I had been using for the last 3 years. Customizable word list is excellent. A definite help to a disabled user who's productivity has been increased by saving his former typing energy for other more important activities. Was this review helpful?

I use the dragon engine professionally and this edition is no different. On a home computer with other programs running, it has interfered with the display functions of simultaneously used programs. The voice recognition is limited at best. I would be fearful to use it if you want to be taken seriously and had potential liability for your words. Be very careful with this product. The concept is beguiling, the delivery can be as much fun as a bad disease in the right/wrong circumstances. I dare say you will not find this product in any courtroom as the ability to precisely transcribe is not within its ability. Was this review helpful?

Well... It is definitely for people whose English is natural. If English is not your native language, don't even bother ...
The worst thing is you can not return it. It is yours forever

For the low price here at Buy.Com, I am going to buy a second copy! I love it! I strongly recommend taking the 15 minutes to go through the tutorial -- it helps immensely! Then, in order to learn the commands, you must USE it! If you don't plan to use this software on a daily basis, you will probably become frustrated trying to remember the commands (despite the fact that a "cheat sheet" is provided). The other important thing to remember is that you need to speak naturally. It works much better than if you over-enunciate each word. If you put in some time with this software, it will reward you with nearly flawless performance.

I have been researching this product for a long time and when I saw it at over 60% off it's regular price I finally made the plunge and purchased it. I do a lot of short e-mails and have had a lot of trouble with short phrases with this software. I've only had it a week so I'm guessing the longer I train it the better it will perform, otherwise I'll just go back to typing. Word on the street is that it's better at sentences than phrases but I haven't figured that out yet. Maybe the purpose of this review is to tell you that the price is awesome and the product is PROBABLY great, but be patient and use it to dictate notes and write longer sentences. Be patient...unlike me. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 not bad Sunday, May 13, 2007 A Customer from East Hampton, NY
I enjoy using this product, although it takes a while to get used to it (and for it to adjust to your way of speaking). If you don't like typing, or are physically unable, it's definitely worth it. Was this review helpful?

I was hesitant to buy this product--cheap though it was--because I had read more than a few negative reviews. People said it was impossible to install; customer service stank; product didn't work as advertised. It was not hard to install at all. It was not hard to register. It was not hard to "train" (and do spend the time reading a training text--it takes a few minutes.) It seems to me that what the program does do is a minor miracle. Even when I have used a technical vocabulary, it has gotten most of what I said right. It's worth a try for anyone who wants to stop typing or hates transcription. Only caveat is if you need a letter-perfect transcription. You will have to correct all errors, and this can take some time if you correct each one as it comes up on the screen, and could test your patience. I myself only need rough notes, so it meets my needs fully. Was this review helpful?

I upgraded from IBM via voice. What a difference-it doesn't even have to learn your voice to start working.... Was this review helpful?
