Have used Norton Anti-Virus for years. Easy to install. There are some nice changes in this version. This version doesn't seem to slow my computer down as much as the previous version. Can't beat the price and the flash drive is a nice bonus. Was this review helpful?

This is a great deal, BUT WORKS ONLY WITH WINDOWS XP AND VISTA - I didn't see this anywhere in the product description, if it is there it's buried. I own 3 computers, but can't use this product on my older Windows 2000 machine...not a huge deal since I don't keep important files on it, but I was still disappointed...

Overall, I think it is a very nice upgrade. I believe my PC is running smoother and the network map feature helps me verify that my network is in good running order. This is the first time I purchased the 3-User version and it registered on two PCs without a hitch. I have been a Norton/Symantec product user for years and this is one of the better versions I've used and best of all how can you complain when you also get a free 1GB Kingston Data Traveler USB2.0 Flash Drive at an already great price. - Enjoy! When I purchased the Norton Antivirus 2008 w/antispyware there was no information indicating that it only works with windows vista and windows xp. I am running windows 2000 professional and seeking a solution to my delema.

What can one say? Norton Antivirus contines to provide the best virus protection in the market. I know some prefer other products, but Norton Antivirus is the best. I have several desktop and laptop PCs, so I buy the multi-user pack for them, I also use Norton SystemWorks and the Internet Security for some of my PCs, providing best protection possible.
Then comes the additional 1GB Kingston Data Traveler USB 2.0 Flash Drive that works great and it is FREE, which makes the value worthwhile.

I had used this program for nearly a year without any problems. With just under a month of use left on the subscription my computer got a virus. I tried different methods to clear it, and nothing worked. I finally contacted Norton support and for $100.00 they said they would fix my computer. They were very nice, and three techs later it seems my computer is working OK. But just how good a deal is this, if the software doesn't work? Was this review helpful?

Be aware that the 3 Users share a product key, so the one year subscription begins from date of first activation. For example, if you install the second PC two months later, that machine will get only 10 months of coverage.

I had real hard time installing NIS 2008 on my new VISTA laptop. Install kept on failing due to required component (VC++ 2005 Redistributable package). Worked with 6 different support analyst at Norton who dialed in, but could not install the product.
Paying the price for geting VISTA machine probably. Had xp license for Norton, but, wont work on VISTA. Spent day and half with Symentec....too tired. Support staff was nice and refunded the money.
Hopefully it is limited to my machine, but, please beware if you've VISTA. Was this review helpful?

After working with Norton support, I am still unable to keep the message "norton anti virus has a license or subscription problem" from coming up and stopping the program from functioning. You can't beat the product for the price. I got the 3 user product The product is easy to install and updates are easy to get. I don't like the fact that the Norton status bar shows up as a toolbar. But it's easy enough to move it to where the time is displayed. I used to have McAfee before and there isn't that much difference between the two products in terms of performance. I've upgraded from 2005 and installed on new machines.
The new ones go pretty smoothly but the upgrade was a nightmare.
Long waits for chat and then having all my typing ignored was pretty frustrating. The "offshore" helpers paid no attention to what I had typed, had done, or anything. Then, another wait to a better/higher tech. 4x I was told, "don't worry, after the reboot, your problems are over", 3x they weren't.
2008 should have been a patch for the horrible 2005. '08 runs much faster and is easier to work with but there are still things that bug me using it. If I had read the book it'd probably help but I have over 10 hours in the upgrade and I have other things to catch up on first. Was this review helpful?
