5 of 5 nokia e 90 Thursday, May 01, 2008 A Customer from Silver Spring,MD
Hi everyone, the phone is really nice has a lot of features, but I think that is too expensive for it's size and it's features.I bought it 2 months ago so i can organize my live a bit and it serve the purpose so far,but again I expected more from Nokia. Was this review helpful?

My last few PDA phones have been Sony Ericsson P-Series. I was about to purchase the P1 from Sony, when I saw this phone. Although I hesitated to change over to Nokia, I am so GLAD that I did. Nokia makes all setup process a breeze. Even though the phone is a little bigger than I expected, it does everything I expected and don't mind the bigger size.
Both screens are sharp and clear. The full QWERTY board is great. The backlight on the both keypad/keyboard are a great help. I love the voice commands and voice tags that are automatic. The GPS Navigation system is worth the mere $130.00 annual cost. And, best of all it "syncs" with my MacBook Pro seamlessly. I did purchase a better music player software from www.handango.com.
I will have to say that I read the user manual prior to purchasing the phone, so I was familiar with all the phone's features. Nonetheless, if you are tired of carrying your laptop every where, this phone is for you. I find myself not even turning on my computer when I get home from work. I can do everything on this phone. I upgraded to the E90 from a Noika 9500 Communicator after 3 successful years. The E90 is a great device - GSM (Quad) Phone, WLAN, Office tools, GPS (with Nokia Maps), Real Player, Flash Player, FM Radio, 3.2MP Camera, Second MMS camera, Blackberry mode (this is so cool), MS Exchange client etc. etc. The Web browser is remarkably faster than previous Nokia devices and supports newer technologies - backing through pages and scrolling is really cool. Bright, high resolution and wide screen is beautiful. Nice bouncy full keyboard keys. FM Radio reception is actually very good in NY/NJ area for local stations. 128Kpbs encoded MP3s play very well through enclosed wired stereo headset - good sound.<br>
Now the bad:
<br>1. Not fully compatible in USA with T-Mobile (no outbound SMS etc.) and T-Mobile refuses to support the device (Yes, they flatly refused to help me - "unsupported device" - a client for last 8 years). So watch out. I will try on a Cingular/ATT network and update the review. It worked fine in India with two different providers with pre-paid cards.
<br>2. Raised keys scratch the inside screen.
<br>3. No direct access to SIM contacts one needs to go through four steps to get to the SIM contacts - cannot set SIM entries as default list. Nokia expects you to copy all SIM contacts to phone contacts to work effectively - names are not read off the SIM entries during incoming calls - only names in Phone Contact directory are interpreted.
<br>4. (A)GPS is slow. Original Nokia Maps 1.0 do not work well Satellite lock takes for ever, Beta 2.0 does better note that voice guidance is a paid service.
<br>
Overall it is a very nice device. The basic phone features have been left for afterthought the focus is on PDA functions.

5 of 5 E90, is it worth it? Monday, January 21, 2008 A Customer from Corvallis Or.
I've had my E90 for 2 weeks now and let me tell you how much i love this phone. I am a college student and this phone works wonders. I use the phone with my bluetooth keyboard to take notes in class, surf the web, listen to music, and when i have time, watch movies downloaded to my phone. I have a fast computer at home that i do everything else with so i didn't need a full size laptop, the E90 does what i only needed a laptop for. The battery life is pretty impressive, considering that the wifi is turned on all day, and i am constantly listening to music. I was in the market for a N95 or Iphone, but being a constant user of WM6 phones with a QWERTY keyboards, i new i couldn't live without one so this was the best choice. I was debating whether i could live without touchscreen, but let me tell you that you don't need touchscreen when you have a keyboard like the one the E90 has. For those of you who like to listen to music, the software for managing music isn't very nice, but it's not too bad, and get ready to buy your own headphone because the ones that come with it are no good at all. Overal, this is THE best phone i have ever owned, totally worth it. No regrets here. Was this review helpful?

Nokia E90 (01) RA-6 0533332 (03-10-2007) Ver. 07.40.1.2 -- I bought the E90 to replace my E70, which had terrible problems with the joystick. I've had countless Nokia phones (clear back to the 252 and 5100 series) and have been pleased with them overall. The E90 has left me awestruck and breathless. I've had the phone over a week and have certainly put it through the moves and I'm absolutely pleased. Despite what other reviews here have stated, I've had no battery problems. I have AT&T Wireless and use the BlackBerry Connect service for e-mail, and I have it scheduled to stay on for 12 hours per day. (During that time it keeps a continuous data connection.) The battery is only about a third diminished by the time I go to charge it, right before bed each night. I work in Telecom/IT and count on this phone to do network administration remotely, juggle calls, check e-mail, update trouble tickets, not to mention several other chores, plus enjoy MP3s and the FM radio for leisure. Despite some of the reviews I've seen on other websites, I have only found one issue with with the device, that being weak GPS sensitivity, which was immediately remedied by a firmware upgrade (from 7.24 to 7.40). I would recommend it to other potential buyers, especially if you're stepping up from another E series device or need to be able to have your office in your pocket! What's more, Buy.com has outstanding customer service, delivery times were much faster than either of us anticipated, and I'm very happy to say that I'll continue to do business here in the future. 4 of 5 Good phone.. so so value Wednesday, December 12, 2007 Arm from Texas
Expect to buy a charger for your car or workplace. The e90 will use fully charged battery in a day. If you plan to use it for a lot of gps then expect to buy another battery! It is 210 grams... almost half a pound! The outside screen is nice, but it felt a bit small for such a big phone. Interior screen is exceptional. Rendering of web pages are much much faster than the e61i. Camera is good, not best, but auto focus is plus.
Its a bit hard to plug the phone in in the dark since the power plug and the headphone jack is close to each other :P Was this review helpful?

The phone is great and I love it, I have had a Nokia 9300 and now the E90. WOW is all I can say, still needs a lighted key board. Dealing with Buy.com sucks as they are have the worst company whom they outsourced the SC too. Scott Blum needs to come back to run the company and show them how its done and we can BBQ again here in Irvine. Dr. Adams Was this review helpful?

I have been using the Communicator since the 9290 was released. For veteran Communicator users, the E90 is truly a breath of fresh air!
Although a die-hard user, I routinely contacted Nokia with question and suggestions about changes in functionality, size, battery life, etc...that would make the device much better.
With the E90, it looks as if Nokia has finally listened to all of our comments and incorporated the changes into this device! A couple of examples - one's ENTIRE telephone directory is voice activated without having to record voice tags, and even when you spend most of your day on phone calls (with the E90 you can be on a phone call and simultaneously retrieve/send email, surf the web, etc...) and using internet through a WLAN, the battery is STILL capable of delivering service for another entire business day without requiring a recharge!
I initially hesitated when the E90 was released in the U.S. earlier this year because of negative reviews from big name sources. However, I began to find more positive reviews and took the plunge earlier this month. If you are a true Communicator super-user, you will GREATLY appreciate this product and wonder how you managed without it!! Was this review helpful?
