    5 of 5 Nokia E61i Unlocked Cell Phone Wednesday, August 06, 2008
    sister from cleveland,ohio

I loved the phone the first moment I got the phone. I did my reserch for a month and I decided on buying a Nokia. The phone is sturdy and I love the big screen size. Phone clarity is great along with using the speaker along with any headsets. Texting on the phone is good and taking pics is a added plus that I did not expect. Overall great phone to buy and buy.com has great delivery time. sister17

5 of 5 Perfect...what else do you expect from Nokia Monday, June 09, 2008
Mike G from Shenandoah Valley, VA
I used to sell wireless telephones back when there were no color screens, and PDAs were only for CEOs. I fell in love with the Nokia brand, and only strayed when SunCom was bought by Cingular. After a short hiatus, I realized that Nokia is indeed the best overall manufacturer. I do understand there can be issues with some products, but you get that everywhere. I will say that the vast majority of my experience with Nokia phones is beyond positive. <BR><BR> Once I began my ascent of the SmartPhone mountain, I decided to go with Windows Mobile devices. After massive issues with OS stability, I went to Nokia (Symbian is much more user friendly and stable). I used the communicator series or a few months, and loved it, but wanted a different interface (I didn't like the clamshell, but it was mostly a personal preference). I was able to find the e61i. After doing my research, I decided to purchase the phone, and I have never regretted it. I have owned this phone for nearly a full year, and any issues that I had with it only occurred in the past few weeks- and these were cleared up with the firmware update. Ease of use is very high, and the interface is customizable and very user-friendly. <BR><BR> The QWERTY keyboard is roomy enough to accommodate quick thumb-typing with minimal mistakes. WIFI is easy to use, and the speed of data transfer and downloading is great. Email is easy to set up and SMS messaging is simple to understand as well. The large on board memory is great, as well as the ability to utilize a micro-SD card for additional memory. Nokia PC Suite is a great way to back-up your information and transfer from an old Nokia to a new one. You can also backup your phone data and settings on the SD card for even greater ease of use and transfer. <BR><BR> The office applications are fast and compatible with MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel). Adobe Reader is also a great tool for the mobile phone- though sometimes I wish the print could be bigger. There are many additional features you can use and other applications you can download for productivity and entertainment. I use MobiReader and am able to access dictionaries, and reference tools on the fly. Maps and GPS are very handy, though I do wish GPS was built in- however the separate module is small and relatively inexpensive. WoldMate is a great way to track weather, time, currency, and so forth. It wakes me up to the weather forecast each morning- a great tool. All applications downloaded to this device have worked flawlessly. <BR><BR> The calender, task-list, alarm, calculator, and other productivity tools are simple to use and easy to synchronize. The camera takes very good quality pictures (I find the best quality in utilizing the "night mode" even during the day), and the microphone picks up voices and sound from a good distance when using the video recorder, sound recorder, or speaker phone. Sometimes the speaker phone volume seems a bit low, but that could be attributed to the other phone on the other end of the call. Bluetooth is easy to set up and use as well. <BR><BR> The only real downfall was that no service providers provide support for this phone, so if you use this with your provider, don't expect any questions or issues to be resolved without a trip to the Nokia site or a call to Nokia. The Nokia website has been great in answering any questions, as well as the "help" option on the phone itself. Some of you who are coming over from a BlackBerry or Treo may miss the roller on the side, or the touch screen, respectively; however, i have found that the 5-way navigation key is great, and I don't have to worry about hitting the screen or switch and engaging a program or call by accident. <BR><BR> Overall, I'm sure you can tell, that I absolutely love this device. Even with all the features, bells, and whistles; call quality is superior to the majority of "basic phones"- much less other smart phones. I would recommend this phone to anyone in the market above iPhone (not a fan of Apple products, personally), BlackBerry (yes, I have some experience with this), or Treo (yes, I also have some experience here).

5 of 5 Easily the best phone I've ever owned! Monday, May 26, 2008
    Vivek from Chicago, IL
How should I put this.... This phone rocks! As a phone - Voice quality is impeccable, speaker is loud and clear, bluetooth functions very well. Voice dial works really well, even with the foreign sounding names in my contacts! Battery life with ONLY voice calls is at least 3 days (30-45 minutes per day with bluetooth device connected) As a PDA device - Wifi ease of use and signal strength and download speed, awesome.. Office/pdf file viewing ability is incredible and real handy... Google makes mail and maps applications for the phones which are powerful. Exchange mail on this phone works excellently... Battery with heavy data usage and 45 minutes of talk/day lasts 2 full days. Overall, I think the iphone is overrated. It has a beautiful user interface, but if you're competing on horsepower, you can't touch the E61i!

    5 of 5 awsome unit Tuesday, April 01, 2008

incredible phone!!! I recommend getting the CAPDASE silicone jacet withthe integral screen prtector. It make the otherwise slick/ slippery phone a breeze to use and increases (not hinders) the phone functionality. Get one!!

    5 of 5 Best phone I ever purchased. Monday, March 31, 2008
    Pentastar from Memphis, TN
A friend turned me onto the e61i. He actually had the e61 and I was so impressed with it that I decided after some months of research to go with the e61i as it was an upgrade to the e61. I bought a European Samsung sgh-i600 (Samsung Blackjack) with wifi for my first smartphone. The e61i is miles ahead of the Samsung with battery life, user-friendliness, and performance. I love my e61i. The possibilities with this phone are endless. I can't wait to start modifying it soon.

    5 of 5 Excellent Monday, March 31, 2008
A Customer from washington, DC and Asia
I've tried virtually every PDA on the market besides Blackberry. And this phone is excellent. Two BIG items. 1) Battery life--if you travel and are busy, this is a lifesaver. Tons of time without the battery going out. 2) Voice quality -- Best I've ever heard in a PDA and every person I talked with commented on it (this is the phone I use in Australia and still have my US phone and everyone said that I sounded better than I did in the US). PDA features work fine, but haven't beaten those pieces up yet. But from what I've seen...I would buy it again in a heartbeat and dump any windows or treo phone

4 of 5 Great Phone, Bad Luck! Thursday, March 06, 2008
    ramixos from Troy, MI
I Bought the the phone about two weeks ago, it's a great product as far as features, however, I had couple of issues with it. From the second I put the phone on my ear, I heard a weird buzz. I didn't think it was a big deal and I didn't want it to bother me. Unfortunately another problem starting occurring, the phone randomly shut down. I updated the firmware on the phone and it didn't help. Just today I sent it to Nokia. Bottom line, It's a very good product, I just had a bad luck. and if that happens to you, at least there's a one year manufacturer warranty

4 of 5 Very good wifi phone, speaker volume could be bett Sunday, February 24, 2008
    Praveen from CO
I bought this phone at buy.com and came on time. Have had this phone for a week now, its been good so far. The wifi is awesome. It catches on to the networks pretty quickly. The S60 browser is good. Tried the opera mini, which crashed quite a few times and wouldnt render web 2.0 rss sites quickly, so using s60 browser.. The phone is good otherwise, battery life is good. The speaker volume is a little low, may be a software update could fix that. The phone feels really solid and rigid. Buy.com gave me the best price for this piece and I am glad with the purchase.

    5 of 5 Excellent Saturday, February 23, 2008
    A Customer from Houston, TX
I bought the Nokia E61i about 3 weeks ago. I'm happy that I made this choice. The device is a mobile office, outstanding capabilities and specs and it is exactly what I needed. So far my experience is great and there are no cons. The major pros that I like in addition to its listed specs, is its sleek professional look. Highly recommended for professional use.

3 of 5 Good performance - not for the weak at heart Wednesday, February 20, 2008
    Ja Mata from Carlsbad, CA
    1. Unless you only want a phone -this thing is complicated and support from Nokia is marginal at best. - If you just need a phone, there are other less complex ones you can buy. <p> 2. Set-up is quite complex and most carriers in the USA consider this an unsupported device so their knowledge may be limited. <p> 3. Nokia support and attention to detail leave a lot to be desired. Software upgrades have been tough and actually faulty. <p> 4. Nice if you have a VoIP service in your office you can connect to or use Truphone (www.truphone.com) or similar service. <p> 5. Email set-up is straightforward and works pretty well. <p> 6. VoIP / SIP stack voice quality is really good. <p> 7. Batter Life is way better than expected. <p> 8. You may need a PHd. in computer science to operate this device. <p> 9. Nokia service is difficult at best. My phone started acting strange after the recommended firmware upgrade to 2.066X and they WOULD NOT DOWNGRADE IT BACK to 1.066X that was working fine. Now it has become a paperweight on my desk and is useless. <p> 10. Pretty rugged device. <p> 11. Friendly with Outlook - but PCSuite has limited documentation.

    5 of 5 King of all Jacks ... Tuesday, January 29, 2008
Santhosh Lakshmanan V from Boston MA
I was spending lot of time in reading all sorts of reviews in magazines, youtube, other resources of internet ... etc! I found that, E61i is the best of all phones ... I wish it could have come with stylus as well! No phone can match its style, performance, ease of use and the value! You have everything in it ... its a mini laptop! Typing is made easire too ... so nowadays, i am sending quicker emails via this phone rather than using my laptop! Nokia could have used a Naviagation Wheel at the sides!!! Hope they will rectify it in their next version "E 71i". Everything is fine but for the delivery date from the parcel service! I have purchased loads of items from Buy.com ... though i take free shipping items ... it has reached me within a week! but this time, it took me 2 weeks to reach me ... the parcel service has taken the advantage of full 9 days! hence, i would recommend.... buy.com to give some preference to this product, as it is worth doing so ....

5 of 5 The cream of the crop! Saturday, January 26, 2008
    Vish from Austin, TX
Shopping for a new GSM smartphone took me two months. I am extremely satisfied with my choice. This Nokia e61i gives you the best of all worlds - a solid build, great software (a bit slow at times), excellent user functionality, colossal high-res screen and of course, the aesthetic appeal. With the ability to customize and download limitless applications, this smartphone (I think) is one of the best around. Connectivity options are just astounding, although I don't use 3G (so no comment on that). The buttons feel much more durable than a blackberry curve and the battery life on this phone is really good (2-3 days with normal talking). Don't forget the 2MP camera, music playback and office/pdf capabilities. BEWARE iPhone! I really do think that this phone is a lot better than any Palm phone because of its greater functionality without the bulkiness (and $400+ pricetag). I highly recommend this product. The bad - Nokia really needs a standard headphone jack on this; their in-house system isn't the best. Nokia's on top of it, guys/girls. Now go out there and get one.

    5 of 5 solid investment Thursday, November 29, 2007
    Marilyn from Ft Lauderdale, FL
For my first smartphone, I couldn't be happier with my decision. It does almost everything I need it to do and the user interface is clear and easy to understand for a newbie like me. I was able to set up email, IM services, and VOIP functions with no assistance. The only shortcoming I have found so far is there is no built in GPS. I am considering the Freedom Keychain GPS to complete the package. My service provider is T-mobile.

5 of 5 Simply the best Tuesday, November 27, 2007
    JTlicious from Chicago, IL
I live here in chicago and they never heard of the nokia e61i. I am from philippines and the number 1 cellphone brand there is nokia so I am looking for a nokia phone which has a wi-fi on it. I am looking for a N95 which is much expensive that time I bought this. And I tell you, it almost has the same features as the N95 except that it only has a 2 megapixel camera. That I think is the only major difference between the two and price also. I don't like to spend more money buying the N95 so I give this a try knowing that Nokia product is good, I tried and I tell you this phone rocks!! Just take a look at the specs. I am mainly using this phone to listen to music. I installed 1 gig memory and the sound is great. I switch from a Motorola V3x and I'm glad I did that. One thing about this when you will use 3G call, is that it has no camera on front. But its ok coz I don't use it hehehe. Overall, give this phone a try. Simply Nokia products is the best. Just look first at the specs see what you need so you won't be disappointed :) .

The E61i replaced the Blackberry I used to use, I can now carry just one device for email and phone calls. The big Pros for me are: email sync with Exchange, wifi, qwerty keyboard, long battery life, and very good sound and voice quality. The Cons are: no carrier discount, no UMTS (so no 3G).

    5 of 5 Great phone Tuesday, September 25, 2007
    A Customer from Union, NJ
Bought this phone to use for GPS and wanted an upgraded S60v3 phone at the same time (coming from E50) and this device is great. The screen is GINORMUS, coming from the E50, I don't know how I even used the E50! Much more peppy than the E50, menus are fast and very responsive.

5 of 5 Best phone on the market Monday, September 24, 2007
    Vladimir from Chicago IL
I consider the nokia e61i is the best phone on the market. First is the price, you getting unlocked worldwide phone, no contract. Great battery life, (stay without recharging for up to three days), beautiful shape, easily feet in to my pocket. Wi-Fi is great option, works great. You can’t expect this phone to work as fast as home computer or laptop. The nokia e61i is grate phone; it has big screen, beautiful keyboard and I love this D-pad (it never get touched by accident). Number of software that I put in to the phone is amazing, I have dictionary, voice recorder, several games, picture editor and some other soft that makes nokia e61i very valuable phone. Nokia has biggest variety of software. However after all that positive things I have to mention couple minuses. Two phones nokia e61i I had to send back before I got a good one. I didn’t like headphone connection, I believe, such class of the business phone has to have regular headphone connection. More Memory!!! It would be nice if the phone has regular USB connection, and touch screen.

    5 of 5 Nokia E61i Tuesday, August 14, 2007

The phone looks huge but it's not...really. It fits my pants pocket, a bit snug but it fits! Screen looks great, I can see clearly when I'm outdoors. Way faster than other S60 phones I've used (6600 and 6680). Wi-fi is awesome and you have lots of applications that you can pick from. Only thing missing is an fm radio but you can get radio streams thru wi-fi connection. Best phone I've had...so far!

This phone is actually made in Finland. Excelent phone. Works fast. If you are in doubt wether to buy it or not, go for it! The only disadvatage is that this phone's 3G band does not work in the US.

    5 of 5 I'm back, Nokia! Monday, August 13, 2007
A Customer from New Albany, MS
I'm leaving "Ease of Use" and "Performance" as 4 ratings, since 5 in my opinion is reserved for perfect. With that said, this is as close as I've come to that. I contemplated an iPhone, but already had an iPod. I've always loved every Nokia I've ever had and this one is no exception. The build quality is top notch. The Wi-Fi is excellent. And, while the web browsing experience isn't quite as good as the iPhone, it does get close enough to be useful when you need to visit a site away from your computer. I LOVE the calendar and email setup is a breeze. I compared the EDGE to the Wi-Fi speed and it was pretty close. I'm sure it's a memory thing for bigger pages, but it's acceptable to me. This is my first full QWERTY keyboard phone. This one is excellent. I can't imagine going back to the old method. I'm going on one month. The only gripe I can muster up is that it's a bit clumsy to hold. I don't dread using it though . . . just takes some getting used to. Some think that the interface is sluggish. I can see that, but it's not so much that I don't like using the phone. The interface is very well thought out. My favorite thing about the phone is the "active standby". It allows my upcoming meetings, memos, and alerts to show on the big screen. That way, I have at-a-glance info any time I view the screen. Even the screensaver is clear and gives alerts for a quick view. I know this is a bit expensive, but it's unlocked, so there are no contracts. Calls are clear and I like the speaker phone (inside, not so much in the car).

    5 of 5 I'm Impressed Sunday, August 12, 2007

I did a fair amount of research and reading reviews prior to purchasing this phone, and finally decided to take the plunge. My only complaint, which I'll get out of the way is .. you have to purchase this without a discount from a carrier. However, I love the freedom to take it with you between carriers if you wish to change. I think this phone is amazing. I have owned a Treo/Palm in the past, and tried out a Blackberry, and by far .. I am the happiest with this phone. Its slim, sexy, and very powerful. I love the wifi ability, that you often are stripped of by a phone being offered by a carrier. Nokia has a good start going on a QWERTY phone design here.

    4 of 5 Nokia smartphone that's a good value Wednesday, July 04, 2007
    A Customer from Austin, TX
Overall I'm impressed. Ergonomics, usability, and screen/brightness are all fantastic. Speakerphone is the best I have ever heard on any phone, ever! Voice quality was initially quite poor, but I traced that back to an older SIM card. **UPGRADE YOUR SIM CARD.** Now voice quality is acceptable 98% of the time. The other times I just hang up and call back. I gave only 4 stars for the following issues. Hopefully all will be fixed in future firmware upgrades: 1. WiFi does not work unless the SSID is broadcast. It simply will not associate otherwise. ('Hidden' mode is broken.) 2. WiFi does not work at all with WPA2-Enterprise (using certificates). Certs can be loaded, but the credentials always fail. WPA2-Personal is the workaround I have employed. 3. Integrated on-ear speaker (NOT speakerphone) is too quiet. I cannot hear the other party if I'm in a loud moving vehicle or noisy room. I use a Bluetooth headset with in-air speaker to accommodate. Finally, a note about the Web/XML browser: it is awesome! I am extremely pleased with the presentation, especially for Javascript heavy sites. I like it far better than Opera for Symbian. Oh, and there are no games. Come on, now.

5 of 5 Best PDA Phone Ever Tuesday, July 03, 2007
    A Customer from Miami, Fl.
This PDA phone is probably one of the best business tools on the market. The instructions that come with it are weak at best. But, if you have the time to figure it out, it is the best product out there.
