 Editor's Note
The Korean horror film renaissance continues with NIGHTMARE (GAWI), directed by Ahn Byung-Ki (PHONE). Hye-jin and her friends carry with them a horrible secret about their past misdeeds, terrible enough that it drove one of them, Eun-ju, to commit suicide. Some time later, however, the friends begin to die one-by-one in gruesome ways. Hye-jin comes to suspect that the ghost of Eun-ju has returned for revenge, but is it possible that the same guilt that afflicted her is causing the friends to do themselves in? NIGHTMARE is an atmospheric, ambiguous slasher film that bears similarity to PROM NIGHT and I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER.
