Crossover jazz artist Bob Baldwin crosses over even more boldly with his 2008 release, NEWURBANJAZZ.COM. Simultaneously signaling the supremacy of the internet age (especially as it impacts music) and the growing influence of contemporary hip-hop and R&B on jazz, this album is a funky, cool nod to jazz-pop fusion with a smooth, urban soul vibe (complete with complementary vocals and raps). Baldwin's bursts of keyboard improvisation keep the jazz element high in the mix, however.

Engineer: Frank McComb; Ike Stubblefield; Roy Matthews

lovejazz from Kansas City, Mo.

This Baldwin has a hot one!! This one typifies the vision of Baldwin. As Contemporary Jazz stations drop like flies, Baldwin has the insight to see that the fusion of Contemporary and Urban Music has to be taken to another level. I am from KC MO, and I love my funky jazz....Bob is the man!!
