Bought one to bridge to the kids XBOX. These were built and directions written to connect 2 of these together. But being a geek no big deal to get into configuration and set up what I need. IT ONLY connects to other 5Ghz routers when bridging so make sure you have a dual band router for the base. And this is NOT backwards compatible. The 5Ghz has a little less range for me so it does not really help me and returning. I had hoped it would connect via the 2.4 and broadcast in 5, was incorrect. As a base router it seems pretty simple like most netgear products. I would recommend to spend the extra to get dual band to eliminate issues with other products later. Of course I say this living in a wide open area so no other traffic to fight. Was this review helpful?

Hi Just bought this to provide a bridge for my 360 and DVR. It is not backwards compatible with "G" networks and it would not see my Cradlepoint N router. So I just ordered a second unit, the price is so reasonable, it was the best option vs. return RMA ect. I will let you know how it goes..

Unit performs admirably. The unit was refurbished and lacked the documentation and software. Also, the serial number of the unit, which is used for the security passkey was not on the unit. Fortunately, I could find the address that was assigned by the Seimens modem/router with only slight difficulty and was able to extract the necessary information from the unit's web interface.
The descriptions of the how the LEDs work as documented in the netgear manual (downloaded) had red highlights to have the "reviewers" confirm operation. My unit does not seem to conform as documented, however it seems to work fine and has been upgraded to the latest firmware (it automatically indicated a newer firmware and I gave it permission to upgrade).
All in all, for the price and the fact it should not conflict with the wireless G devices, it was a good value. Was this review helpful?

I bought 2 of these to use one as an AP and the other as a wireless bridge to connect my to networks without running a long cable. Works well with 100% uptime and through a couple of walls. I have the AP sitting next to my 2.4Ghz Wireless router with no issues. The 5.0Ghz does seem to be all alone in my neighborhood and the fact that the wireless bridge will work with WPA2 makes the connection secure. The comparable linksys version will not connect with WPA or WPA2 (I know because I have them and will be selling them on ebay soon enough). Netgear networking gear is the best, our whole office is now Netgear and works 100% of the time seemlessly. Was this review helpful?

I purchased this AP as a replacement for 802.11b/g 2.4Ghz equipment as I was experiencing interference in the 2.4Ghz band. The web interface was easy and complete. The encryption support is robust with WPA2 AES. The speed and signal coverage is excellent. I'm able to connect at a constant 270Mbps on my Macbook with an upgraded a/b/g/n card. This refurbished product arrived in a plain cardboard box. The side of the unit appeared to have a few scuff marks. I have 100% uptime with this AP. The 802.11b/g band is so congested. I like the fact that I literally have the entire 5Ghz band to myself as there are no other APs on this band in my area. I am impressed in every way. Fantastic price on this AP. The reliability and performance of the unit is excellent. I have been raving about this AP since I received it. Buy.com shipped FAST! I cant be happier with this purchase. Was this review helpful?
