1 of 5 Unbearable Tech Support Thursday, November 29, 2007
    Little Chico from Chico, CA
I have struggled with this wireless connection for almost a year. The dropped connection was a daily occurrence. When I could not connect at all, I contacted Tech Support. After 10 days I gave up and bought a Linksys router. Within 10 minutes I was up and running with no dropped connection. If you have a lot of spare time to waste -- the Netgear will use it up quickly.

5 of 5 Thumbs Up for Netgear! Thursday, July 05, 2007
    Thad from Kettering, Ohio
It was VERY easy to setup my Netgear wireless router. Everything worked properly on the first try. The IS guy at work suggested Netgear and I am glad that I made this purchase instead of a Linksys product.

5 of 5 Great product and MUCH better than WirelessB! Sunday, May 27, 2007
    Len from Miami, FL
Love Netgear products, this is my second and have bought and installed for brother, mom/dad and girlfriend. This router is a great buy for the money and installation is a SNAP (that's come a long way)! I upgraded from an older Wireless B product and wondered if it would be worth it... Let me tell you. IT DEFINTELY IS... With Wireless G (108Mbps) it's as if you are cable-connected. Very impressive and always up! Great Router.

5 of 5 So far, so good Friday, April 06, 2007
    John Norton from Germantown, MD
I bought a wireless router years ago when they first came out and had little success with getting it set up (very complicated). So I sold that wireless router and kept everything plugged in. Got a new laptop recently and decided to go wireless again. After reading the reviews here that said installation and setup were a breeze, I went with it. I wouldn't say it was a breeze - you definitely have to pay attention and make a few IT-like decisions. But it worked after the first run through and I didn't need any customer support! You will need to have a plugged-in internet connection in order to set it up (since an account gets set up at Netgear). The "key" is extremely long and generated by Netgear. Thus you'll probably want to print it out and save it somewhere. After I ordered the new wireless router, I realized my plugged-in router has phone connections in it (I use Vonage for phone and fax), and this new wireless router doesn't have phone connections. After I got it set up, I plugged my old router with the phone lines into the new router and my phone and fax lines worked instantly! I'm hoping that, like my previous router, it's a "set it up and forget it's there" kinda thing. So far, so good.

    5 of 5 Flawless Monday, January 29, 2007
    stoneblue from Orlando, FL
Actually, this is the first wireless router I have ever purchased, so I don't have anything to compare it to. All I know is that I have hardly noticed its presence in my home, as it has been dependable and trouble free. It's so little, like a paperback novel, that it stores well on the shelf. A real plus is the secret code I had to enter into the wireless settings, to allow wireless access only by my computer(s), and not everyone else in the neighborhood with a wireless receiver/card thingy.

5 of 5 Very easy to setup and use. Friday, November 24, 2006
    Tom A. from Arlington, VA
Very easy to setup and use. Just follow the instructions in the exact order that they are presented. Also, remember to write down or print out the ids and passwords that you have to enter in the setup. With my Dell Inspiron 6000 and Intel wireless card I am getting a 54mb connection that varies between Very Good and Excellent. I use the laptop at home about 40 feet from the router with one floor separation. Overall, a nice product for the price.

I was honestly impressed. Even with setting up the security/firewall of the system- was very easy to follow directions and works so well! What at first I thought was going to be a limited system ended up exceeding my expectations!

    5 of 5 Fast Router w/ Great Range Friday, April 22, 2005
    T. Castro from Santa Maria, CA
Upgraded to this router from a 11mbs MR314 wireless router. The range increase was worth the cost alone. I have a laptop towards the front of my house and this router enables a good internet connection through multiple walls and one floor. The Netgear PC card utility is always in the green and almost never goes to yellow or red. Very easy to use and setup. Highly recommended.

    Bruno from KC, MO
This router was a breeze to connect to my cable modem. Smokin' thru put and easy to secure if you simply read the screens. Strong pre-shared key encryption, disable the SSID broadcast, set the MAC address filter, and you are surfing securely and fast.

    5 of 5 Excellent Product Tuesday, September 21, 2004
    A Customer from Madison, WI
1.Extremely small and lightweight. 2.Very Easy to Setup. 3.Fast Service from Buy.com The only negative aspect would be that it does not guide you on how to make ur Wireless Network secure. But a little bit of playing around should help u in setting up the configurations for a secure network. Also, I have an Atheros 5004G network adapter and it works perfectly with this NETGEAR. [I had googled WGT624 and there were some reports of incompatibility between these 2 devices....no problems in my case].

5 of 5 very good router Sunday, September 12, 2004
    frank from Michigan
Purchased a few days ago, plugged it in and without further ado it began working. It talks to the cable high speed modem and another router in my LAN which is a Linksys. I was afraid that there would be a problem. It is very fast too. I do not have a Netgear Internet card, mine is a 3COM which is 3 years old but it seemed to work well with the WGT624NA. I am not in the VPN, so cannot evaluate this feature. I may try it some time later in the year. What I especially liked was the internal support embedded in the router. When you bring up the router webpage to setup parameters it gives you explanations as to what all those features mean in plain English. Nicely done. In fact you can settle with the defaults which was what I did.

3 of 5 A headache if you have DSL.... Tuesday, June 29, 2004
    A Customer from Indianapolis
For some reason this router does not talk well with speedstream DSL modems. I actually got it to work but it will intermitenly fail. I bought this thinking the performance would be much better than that of the WG624 (54mbps) and I wish I wouldn't have sold my other router. I'm getting rid of this router and going back to regular 54mbps 802.11g.

    4 of 5 Easy Saturday, April 10, 2004
    GodBlessUSA. from Louisville Kentucky
Received in 2 days... Buy.Com price and service is a thing of beauty. Now for the router it works great. Up and going in 15 minutes. Once I got it all connected and set I had to call my cable company to register it on their system. But other than that NO problems. Works all the way out on the back yard deck.... :-) Now thats a ways out there. Router is in front office in house, so thats 5 walls and one brick wall. I cant comment on tech support didden need'em. I just dont set how any router could be easier to set up. I'd buy again for sure. Speed and distance are great.

4 of 5 Fast but finicky. Friday, March 05, 2004
A Customer from Santa Cruz CA
This is a snap to install and works great(in the right conditions). However, if you run into a problem... don't expect much help from the VOIP to India tech support. I bought two of these, I got one for my house where I’m using a netgear 108 card and it works flawlessly. The one I tried to install for my father didn't go so easy. Mainly because of an older ADSL router, I found out I had to use a very rare cable configuration "straight through reverse polarity cable". If you need one, netgear will send it to you free of charge... I just made my own from instructions online, because I couldn't wait. Then today my new Dell 8600 shows up with a built in 1300 TrueMobile card, however after a few hours of pulling out my hair... I find information online that these two things aren't very compatible. For me they weren't at all compatible. I've been trying to download a firmware update for the last few hours for the WGT624... but I think a lot of other people have the same idea. Also, from what I've been reading… attempts at firmware updates on the WGT624 usually ends up in bricking the router... I'm going to try it though. In the end... I'd go ahead and take a risk on this router, just keep the box and receipt. Although, I feel like boycoting any company using this new poor excuse for tech support.
