5 of 5 Very Satisfied! Tuesday, June 17, 2008 Frequent Flyer from Santa Fe, NM
Buy.com had the best price on this router and after reading numerous router reviews I decided to get this model. I got off to a rocky start but perserverance paid off. The first router was declared defective by Netgear tech support in India which I found helpful and efficient. I returned it for a replacement per Buy.com's replacement policy and installed on my Comcast cable system with a fair amount of difficulty. I remembered some of tech support's advise from a few weeks earlier so was able to figure it myself. I suspect it may have been difficult to set up due to the complications I ran into with the first router or my lack of expertise. At any rate, it has been up and running for well over a month without one glitch. It runs efficiently with no maintenance issues or dropped connections. I run it on Comcast with 3 computers. I notice no speed issues or slow downs. I very pleased with this Netgear router and this has been my first Netgear device so I rate them highly in spite of first item that turned out to be defective. The product was shipped and received on time. Unfortunately, I had to call their Tech Support to install it. This went fast and I was up and running within 30 minutes. Was this review helpful?

4 of 5 Good Product - Difficult Setup Sunday, May 04, 2008 Jay from Geneva, IL
Once its setup, it runs fine. With Comcast, setup is a bit confusing. If your computer is working well just plugged into the cable modem, connect the computer through the router and log into the router. You need to duplicate the MAC address of the computer. Once that's done, save the settings and reboot all computers hooked up to the router. Since figuring that out, its worked out fine. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 top performer for the price Sunday, December 02, 2007 pvyancey@hotmail.com from Union, KY
Great little router. Works as advertised, DHCP, port forwarding, everything easy to set up. Has every function most people will need at a very reasonable price. Hook it up to an FS608 8-port switch if you need more ports. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Netgear RP614 Friday, April 13, 2007 Jerry from El paso, Texas
I carefully researched this item and the companies who offered it online. After choosing Buy.com, I determined that they are everything that they claim to be. Installing the router was so easy that I wondered if I'd made mistake and rechecked the installation. I'd definitely use Buy.com again. Was this review helpful?

I was a little nervous buying this router because I read a lot of negative feedback. I bought 2 of these for my home network and both functioned perfectly from the start and one month later, still working perfectly. This is a great deal, especially with the discount. I now have 3 Netgear routers (also an FR114P) and am a Netgear fan. Make sure you get the version 3 RP614 and if you upgrade the firmware, make sure you select the one for version 3. I bought this router not knowing what I was getting into. I had never used one before, but after sharing my DSL connection on 2 win XP pro systems using ICS, I figured there had to be something better. Boy was I right. I don't think it could have been easier to set up, within 10 minutes both systems were up and running online. My LAN is more stable, and works faster than ever, and I even noticed a signifigant increase in my upload speed. Easy firmware upgrades, site blocking (great for ad sites) cheap and a small footprint. I would Highly recommend this router for a first-timer. Was this review helpful?

This little gem actually has specific setup directions for Mac computers as well as PCs, a rarity among routers. The directions, along with its web-based setup 'Wizard', made getting the right numbers in the right places very straightforward. The industrial design of the router is excellent, with the options for horizontal or vertical placement. The concave upper surface in the horizontal mode is tempting for use as a coffee warmer but don't. It's dangerous and besides, the router runs too cool. Cudos to Buy.com, also. They got it here in two days with free shipping! Was this review helpful?

I have 2 computers running Windows XP and I had no problems what so ever hooking them up to the router and getting them running on the internet. Step by step process is....
1. put router on my computer desk.
2. hooked cat5 cable from cable modem to router.
3. hooked another cat5 cable from router to 1st computer.
4. applied power to router and waited for self test to pass.
5. turned on computer...logged on and inserted netgear cd.
6. follow step by step assistant.
7. turned off computer and removed power to the router.
8. applied power to router and waited for self test to pass.
9. turned on my computer.
10. I'm now connected to the internet.
For my second computer it was just too easy.
1. removed power to the router
2. hooked a cat5 cable from router to second computer.
3. applied power to router and waited for self test to pass.
4. turned on my second computer and I was connected to the internet without having to do anything else.
A high 5 all around. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Excellent Product! Tuesday, August 13, 2002 Rob from Huntington Beach
I received this Router a couple of weeks ago. I don't know how I got along without it. I have not had to reset this thing at all (unlike my old Linksys router)!
DHCP is flawless. Simple to configure. Great design. I highly recommend this product for the home network. Was this review helpful?
