Works out of the box but keep the following in mind:
- gets really hot, I glued a P4 cooling block on to it so it could get rid of the heat;
- use better plugs and longer screws to attach it to the wall if you plan plug your utp cables in and out often.

5 of 5 NetGear 5-port copper gigabit switch Friday, November 30, 2007 A Customer from Nevada City, CA
We usually purchase a plastic 8-port NetGear switch, but when I saw this switch, on sale, for about the same price, I ordered 2. They have a metal body, with a design more suited to flexible mounting. It's a better switch overall and we're very happy with the product. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 FAST Monday, May 14, 2007 Bob Alford from Shelbyville, TX
I bought 2 of these. One for home and the other for work. The cost is best price around (even without the rebate, but that made it even better!) Just plug em in and go to work. I also have 10/100 switches so only connecting gigabit products as a high speed backbone. Very small and efficient. Only CON: is the power brick. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Just plain works Saturday, May 12, 2007 Don from Gurnee, IL
I have several of these as well as the larger 8 port swiches and their "smart" 24 port switches. All of them have been reliable and worked effectively in my network. No concerns or issues. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Netgear 5-port switch the best! Tuesday, January 30, 2007 A Customer from New York, NY
After buying and returning a similar Linksys product 3 times for several of the ports not working, I'm really pleased with the functionality, speed and size of the Netgear switch. Buy.com performed admirably as well. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Piece of Cake Wednesday, November 08, 2006 A Customer from St. Louis, MO
This box was terribly easy to set up and has boosted our network by replacing a 10-Base T hub. Plus, it is very compact and takes up very little room. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Nice compact gigabit switch Sunday, October 01, 2006 A Customer from Middleton, Wisconsin
I'm using this switch for a home network. Cat-6 wiring and a central Leviton cabinet. Mounting the switch was somewhat tricky, but that's really due to Leviton's lack of universal mounting brackets. The power brick, although small, was just the wrong configuration to fit inside the cabinet without using an extension cord.
PROS: Small. Gigabit speeds. Jumbo frame support.
CONS: Yet another power brick. Was this review helpful?

We use these through out our company and have had hardly any problems...the only one being a bad power supply. Before the GS105, we used the FS105 and were just as happy.
Highly recommended! Was this review helpful?
