1 of 5 Worked great for 1.5 years... Monday, June 30, 2008
Clarke from Charlotte, NC
Switch worked great for about 1.5 years and then all of a sudden I got the Blunking lights of death and the high pitched squeal. Apparently this is VERY common. One of the three capacitors on the board blew. I hope these manufacturing companies start to wise up and realize that the cheapest components are not the best to use... It seems that crappy capacitors are at the root of ALOT of modern (last 5 years or so) electronics failures... Regardless, the product had a 5-year warranty on it when I bought it, but now they offer lifetime. We'll see how easy they are to deal with...

5 of 5 Fabulous deal for the money! Wednesday, April 16, 2008
cycles from Atlanta, GA
Quite a sophisticated piece of gear for such little cost. How can anyone complain about getting a gigabit ethernet switch with eight ports at this price point, not to mention its ease of use. You would be foolish to spend $200-$300+ for a similar eight port network switch from OnQ/Legrand or Leviton, when you can easily adapt this switch to your home network panel at less than a quarter of the cost. Its time to wake up and smell the roses OnQ and Leviton! Where's your competitive spirit?

5 of 5 What Can I Say? Wednesday, November 28, 2007
A Customer from Houston, Tx
Works fine. No brainer - just plug the cables in. Lights quickly showed me that I had a bad cable (tx/rx @ 100 vs. 1000). Love the metal box/case.

5 of 5 Solid Netgear Hardware Wednesday, November 28, 2007
A Customer from Beltsville, Md
This device is simply great for small office network support!!! It is simple to use, can be placed most anywhere and is quite reliable. I would not choose many if any other types of hardware for my networking needs.

5 of 5 Solid Switch Tuesday, November 27, 2007
John from Shoreline, WA
Purchased this and found it to be extremely easy to install. Just pulled it out of the box, wired up my Cat6 cables and all set. Not a blip in performance. Works like a champ in my network (Hardwired Xbox360, 2 Desktops, and a Laptop) "trunking into my wireless network. Absolutely trouble free.

5 of 5 Works Great, Easy to Use Sunday, May 13, 2007
Jim from Cape Canaveral, FL
Works great, and is easy to use. Ran ethernet cable from router to this switch, and then just plugged computers into the switch. Could not have been easier. Also, switch has small footprint, and feels solid.

Netgear's GS108NA is a terrific switch for the home/home office network. Featuring auto port speed sensing and crossover detection on each port, just about anyone can have one up and running in just a few minutes.

5 of 5 Works very well and is an easy choice. Monday, March 26, 2007
A Customer from Madison, WI
I have a network with numerous segements. 24-port, 16-port, 8-port and 5-port Netgear GigaBit switches were all put in place late December 2006. They work very well - simple plug and play. No problems here - Netgear GigaBit switches are an easy choice.

5 of 5 blazing Netgear Monday, February 19, 2007
Richi from Melbourne, Florida
Just plug it in and run on 100MB/sec (1gbit) theoretical throughput. I copied gigabites over the network within seconds with the average speed being around 30MB/sec. This is normal considering your average speed on a 100 Mbit network is 3MB/sec. It runs very well and it looks awesome hanging on my wall (came with 2 wall screws)

5 of 5 Works Great Saturday, February 10, 2007
A Customer from Berkeley, CA
Not much to say about it - no setup needed. It does the job. I wanted to put the netgear switch in a centralized distribution box. The switch turned out to be more compact and ruggedly built than I expected. It's been great for the several weeks I've had it.

5 of 5 Best value switch around Tuesday, February 06, 2007
Chris from West Los Angeles, CA
I've inherited a network that was improperly wired and have had to star out my network in order to get enough connections for all my network nodes. The Netgear GS series has been a blessing as these inexpensive little switches never crash and, contrary to another post here, do actually support Jumbo 9K Frames. I push a huge amount of media data across these connections and I have yet to have one crash or fail in the last 12 months. I used to be a big fan of Cisco, but Netgear has built a really solid platform here.

5 of 5 Just what I wanted. Tuesday, October 31, 2006
A Customer from Rockledge FL
I regularly transfer multiple Gigabyte files and through the existing wiring (small business) and old 100BaseT switch I was getting 30 Mbps (30% of 100BaseT). With this switch, I get about 220 Mbps (22% of 1000BaseT) through same wiring. I think the wiring is Cat 5. Very pleased since a file that used to take about 6 minutes takes less than 1. I got the newer revision that supports Jumbo Frames but one of my network adapters on the computer I was testing with seems to have that option missing so I am unable to comment on that yet.

5 of 5 STABLE, FAST, and QUIET Wednesday, May 10, 2006
Steve H. from Jamaica, NY
I work in a computer lab where we constantly re-image devices (using Norton Ghost). I have 3 laptops and 1 DELL GX620 desktop and all of them have Gigabit connection. When I connected those 4 to this switch and run the imaging process simultaneous, I get the same performance (0 differences) as I run 1 laptop to the GX620. This testing was done with Cat5 cables that I pick randomly from my lab. I can't wait to add more devices and using Cat6 cables to get my work done faster.

5 of 5 GS108 Support Jumbo Frames Monday, May 08, 2006
A Customer from Santa Rosa, CA
Netgear added this feature in late 2005. However, they did not change the model number. Anything manufactured in 2006 will support 9K Jumbo Frames. Just make sure your all of the NICs on your network are set to the same frame size.

3 of 5 Great product, one long term negative Thursday, November 18, 2004
John L from Canton, OH
I have this switch running with five Dell 400SC server PCs. Works great, no problems. However, as I learned more about gigabit networking, I wanted to push the throughput performance to the limit. Unfortunately, this product does NOT support 9kb jumbo packet frames. It is limited to the "standard" 1.5kb packet frame size. Bigger packets mean fewer CPU interrupts and less CPU overhead. The SMC "E-Z" Switches do support these larger frame sizes.

4 of 5 Silent Performance Tuesday, April 27, 2004
Ed from Houston, TX
Works great and is silent. I prefer the Linksys cable layout for home, which I bought first, but silence is golden, and this one's the keeper. This unit places all LEDs on the cable side, so if your cables run out the back, all the LEDs are hidden.
