NEC 1735NXM 17" LCD Display, 450:1, 16ms - LCD1735NXM

I'm writing this in 2009, but bought this monitor and its 19 inch version in 2004. At the time it was very expensive ($350 and $450 for 17 and 19 inch respectively). Recently traded in to local computer store for 22 and 24 inch monitors, but have loved these two. Unfortunately, the positioning of the on screen display and navigation buttons are in the wrong places where the keyboard wire could inadvertently trigger the OSD to pop up (they are very touch sensitive). And frankly, the speakers are absolutely terrible compared to cheap $30 speakers, and are placed in such a position (speaker sound comes from the side of the monitor) that for the first few days to hear properly I taped some cardboard to direct sound to the front...then bought $30 speakers that were 30 times better than those included. But back to the display, the frame is beautiful and is a nice attraction. The power button is on the bottom stand which can be annoying for some. The picture has been marvelous from the beginning, and have loved the brightness of the display. I dont think I really noticed any problems with these, considering how much they were at the time. I would have actually used these monitors as TV screens (I hear its possible) but the DVI isn't HDCP compatible. If you happen to need a 17 or 19 inch monitor, these won't let you down. Oh yea I forgot they are very thin monitors as the power adapter isn't on the display, but on the power wires. And depending where you place the 1735nxm or 1935nxm, NEC places at the back of the monitor a large blue-lit NEC logo when the monitor is turned on (like those apple logos on the macbooks, only annoying). But other than that it's been a pleasure to have these two for the past 4-5 years.

I purchased three LCD-1735 NXM's for my wife and kids and the LCD-1935 NXM for myself last Christmas. Frankly we don't use the multi-media capabilities, except for my wife who's Skype rings on her speakers to get her attention. They look great and according to my gamer son, play great too. We also like the separate power supply because it keeps the desktop cooler. I highly recommend this display.
