As a full time realtor, I can collect dozens of receipts in a week...the paper piling up was getting overwhelming. I picked up NeatReceipts and it took me a little while to get rolling. The tutorial is sorely lacking but I had great success with their tech support. Once I got the hang of it, it was great.
It's IRS approved so say goodbye to all of those little pieces of paper that seem to take over your life. Invest in the largest scanner (it's the most versatile; you can do biz cards, and any size up to 8-1/2 by 11.

1 of 5 Works well but won't import PDF or email receipts Friday, December 28, 2007

NeatReceipts works well as a portable document and business card scanner. The v3.0 software will permit you to scan directly to PDF. Its software interprets your paper receipts after scanning and categorizes the spending, importing everything into its own proprietary database format. It worked extremely well. However, the software can only read exisitng "soft" receipts (that is, those already scanned or in email) if they are converted to a graphic file format like TIFF, GIF, JPG, etc. No importing of PDF or email receipts directly. I lacks a "print driver" that could allow you to output from any app to a format it can read directly. I purchased the package mainly for its software and was quickly frustrated by its lack of import capability. I returned mine after 5 days trying various work-arounds. Too bad - I *really* liked the portable USB-powered scanner. With robust import functions this package could have garnered 6 stars in all categories. Was this review helpful?
