5 of 5 Sarah has a distinct accent........... Wednesday, May 27, 2009 Jimmie V from North Fort Myers, Florida
I found that the voice on the 8100T has a name to it, her name is Sarah but can't remember the second voice's name but Sarah's in much nicer. She speaks with a distinct accent and I've found if I mimic the accent as best I can, she understands me better. My first and probably last GPS and I feel its all I hoped it to be, just takes a little time to become really familiar with all its options. Found out on the Navigon site that a recently released unit actually speaks the traffic alerts as they appear in front of your route, I called Navigon to see if this feature could be downloaded and added to the 8100T and I was told to watch their site for future updates as to this possibility. So, not having anything to compare it to as far a rating I'd give it 4.5 for value & performance and 4 for Ease of use= 4.3 overall Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Does not speak full words for abbreviations Saturday, May 09, 2009 Keith A from Coram, NY
I just got the unit a couple weeks ago and when it's supposed to say expressway or parkway, and it's abbreviated on the gps, pkwy and expy, it says it just how it's spelt.and it also doesn't pronounce words the way it should.. it says expressway, expreshway. But other than that, I think the unit is great. I love the reality view and lane assistant. Was this review helpful?

I've had mine for about a month now and I really think it is better than Garmin or Tomtom, I tried out all 3 brands and decided that the 8100T was the best overall. The best thing that I like is the bigger screen and the panorama view Its almost like looking through a camera as I drive down the road minus the other traffic. The only thing I wish Navigon offered would be truck routing, I drive an 18 wheeler and alot of my deliveries and p/u's are in cities where they are alot of truck restricted routes, but I pretty much know which roads I can or cannot use. The 8100T usally keeps me on major roads so that I don't get into trouble. I would highly recomend this for anyone wanting good accurate maps and features. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 very cool Saturday, April 18, 2009 Roger P. from Mabank, Texas
Good unit, love the big screen. The only problem is the voice activated navigation. It doesn't recognize what I say all the time. Overall, it's a great unit. I've used it for about two weeks now, I drive in Dallas metro area every day. Traffic alerts are very nice! Was this review helpful?

This is the first GPS that I've owned. I am however very experienced with GPS because of my job as a pilot. I reserched for three months on what unit I wanted and I chose the Navigon 8100t. It was well revied by others and had all the functions that I desired. I had read reviews of several Nuvi units that complained that the reality view had very few interchanges programed. The reviews of the Navigon were opposite and I agree. I live in Western Michigan, (not the center of the universe) and found that most interchanges worked with the reality view. I also found that the traffic function worked very well here and I was under the assumption that it would only work in big cities like Detroit or Chicago. I also like that I could get Three years of map updates for $50. You get 12 quartarly updates in that three years. Much better than Garmin. Overal the unit is easy to use and great to play with. I do wish that it had more voice options but the ones it has are fine. Was this review helpful?

I first used Navigon in Germany on the autobahn but I could never figure out who made it for Nissan Europe. Finally I found Navigon through buy.com and I was not disappointed once I got the 8100 delivered.
This is their best unit with every feature imaginable. The lane assist alone on the freeways is worth every penny compared to all the other companies. It also comes with lifetime traffic reports which helps driving in any big city. The 8100 also has bluetooth for hands-free calling which is a must in California and it hooks to my bluetooth phone quickly. Be careful though if you carry your navi with you, you'll end up talking into your messenger bag if it grabs the call while walking around (hypothetically of course...it didn't happen to me....ok fine it did!)
This unit is fantastic. The only thing I can't figure out yet is how to change the speed warning to change it from 5mph over to 10 just for a little room. She warns me quiet often as the flow of traffic in LA varies from very slow to very fast at times. But I haven't grabbed the manual as the other reviewer stated. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 No instructions with a Great product Sunday, December 14, 2008 Michael from Antioch, Illinois
The 8100T is a great unit - from massive preference options to phone bluetooth transferring. HOWEVER, no instruction manual is provided with the unit. You have to call Navigon and download a 140 page manual to truly learn the details of the system. I WOULD buy again in a heartbeat. Was this review helpful?
