    5 of 5 Great Product Wednesday, October 08, 2008
    A Customer from Philly

This is a great product and one of the best small ones out there. I bought one during the Black Friday sales last year and have never regretted it. Its got some good features not found in more pricey ones. Its user interface has been beyond eye candy, its like the vista of gps systems. I especially like the reality view feature, I would have missed so many exits if not for it. A product really worth every dollar. And the company also sends me email updates on newer versions of the software. Would definitely recommend it.

5 of 5 Great Value but go to the Navigon website and upda Saturday, October 04, 2008
    A Customer from Baltimore MD
I ordered one for a co-worker and she is very pleased with it. However, these units are shipped with the old version of the mapping software version 1.1. Navigon offers a free firmware and map upgrade that is bundled into version 1.2. This upgrade will fix the slowness of the interface and best of all its free. Go now you wont be disappointed. You will have to register for an account but the upgraded is relatively fast and easy. Good Luck

4 of 5 Lots of Features for the price! Tuesday, September 16, 2008
A Customer from Peachtree City, GA
You can't beat this one for price and features. Its a little slow on boot up (You have to hold power button about 7 seconds), slow to find gps sometimes (but its usually around 30 seconds), and calculating route at first. Traffic updates are nice, and it recalculates route nicely. I haven't been rerouted yet due to traffic yet though, so I am not sure how great it works in that respect. I just get a traffic alert warning me of things along my route. They haven't been serious enough to reroute me yet. The POI interface is nice, but a little slow sometimes. The Zagat reviewed ones are a nice alternative. That way you have the option of knowing if the places are worth going to. Rather than a random restuarant. It includes a nice suction cup mount, car power cord, and traffic antenna, sd card, usb cable, and maps on cd.

4 of 5 Lifetime Traffic is great- slow startup Monday, September 15, 2008
    A Customer from Atlanta, GA
Great item for the price ($150 refurbished) especially with the traffic information. The slow startup and satellite acqusition is bothersome but okay if you are not in a hurry. Directions were reliable for the most part and recalculations were faster than my Magellan 760. Nice to see the Zagat restaurants show up. Day/night viewing is not automatic but you can select it by touching screen. Overall, a good value.

5 of 5 One Great GPS Monday, September 08, 2008
    Steve from Bellaire/Michigan
I don't write very many reviews but this one I'll be glad to write. The craftmanship and care to detail are just outstanding on this Navigon 5100. I would take this unit over a Tom Tom or Garmin any day and even though I would have perfered a 4.3 inch screen I couldn't be happier with this unit. The free traffic up dates alone are worth more then what the unit cost me and with the great service from Buy.com well it's just 10's from me on this purchase. I will be recomending this to all my family and friends looking for a GPS

5 of 5 Well worth the price Sunday, September 07, 2008
    Vahid from Edison, NJ
I have purchased a few Navigon 2100 but this one is much better specially that comes with traffic information. I drove from NY to DC with it and inform me all the troubles on the road, of course I did not listen to it but the problem was there on the road.

5 of 5 A few small problems, but overall really nice. Saturday, September 06, 2008
    Mike from Silver Spring, MD
Before purchasing a refurbished unit I did a lot of reading of reviews from various web sites. It really seems like this product has gotten an undeserved bad reputation. No GPS unit is perfect, and this one is no exception. The on/off time is ridiculously long for some reason. It takes about 10 seconds to turn on. This seems to be just a software switch delay to prevent you from accidentally turning it on but 2 - 3 seconds would be more than enough. The touch screen is a little off so it is pretty easy to accidentally press the wrong button. The border on the face is a little reflective which can be annoying in the sun. The points of interest are a little weak, but you can probably increase them if you buy the updates. The traffic feature is nice, especially in a unit in this price range, but I found that the auto-rerouting around traffic can sometimes really take you out of your way. I really just use it to get an idea of traffic in unfamiliar areas. That being said, this unit is relatively fast to acquire a signal. The route calculation is fast and it can immediately recommend a corrective route after a missed turn. The speaker is loud enough. It won't overpower your speakers or wind noise if your windows are down but you can hear it under normal conditions. The best features of the GPS are the overhead sign view and the lane recommendations. My wife has a tendency to get stuck in an exit only lane so seeing the lanes before the intersection is great. Compared to other car GPS units I've used this one is just as good or better. I like the 3.5" screen because it is easier to drop into my pocket. I'm not sure what others were expecting from a car GPS, but for under $200, I'd highly recommend this unit.

    4 of 5 Good Value Saturday, September 06, 2008
    A Customer from Milwaukee, WI
The Navigon 5100 works well. I on have three concerns and one if only. The touch screen is a little tricky to get the right item, you sometimes get the selection above or below the one your trying to reach. The software upgrade download had to be done from work, my dsl line could not handle the file download. But the bigest is HOW LONG DO YOU HAVE TO HOLD THE ON BUTTON to turn this thing on!!! My if only is, I wish I had only waited until I found a unit with Bluetooth so my headset could get the instructions, as that would make the unit usable when I'm on my Spyder Roadster.

4 of 5 Awesome! Side by Side with a Garmin Thursday, September 04, 2008
    A Customer from Alhamrba, CA
The GPS has FREE traffic update and shows you the traffic jams along the road. No monthly fees. Free additional traffic antenna in the box. Voice is not as loud as the Garmin GPS. Must learn how to turn the unit off and when it is in sleep mode. You might mistaken the GPS is OFF but its just on sleep mode. The realistic view on the highway exit signs was a PLUS factor for this GPS. I used in the highway and it shows the same signboard picture in reality and shows you where to exit in multiple exit point with text to speech voice (with street name) assisted navigation. I used the Navigon 5100 and side by side with a Garmin on the highway. In the middle of the trip we turn the Garmin OFF for we relied to the Navigon for its better Navigation. Location accuracy is the same with the Garmin (not an issue). 4.5 inch screen will be better, for its price it is still a good deal. The unit comes with a Free car glass window attachment and cigarette lighter charger. I will buy again another unit as a gift.

4 of 5 Exquisite feature set, Excellent Price Wednesday, September 03, 2008
A Customer from Apple Valley, MN
Just used this unit on a trip to Alabama from Minnesota and was suitably impressed. Even in local areas where I chose to go my preferred route it adjusted its route immediately. For a factory refurbished item I couldn't be more pleased. PROS - Price, Screen Resolution, Head Up Interchange display, Traffic warning list in area or on route (dependant on servicing radio signals, most large cities) CONS - Mount is a little wierd, it only seems good for low slope windshields (worked fine for my Pontiac G6, not so great for my Chevy Venture), Volume is pretty low but is loud enough to know its saying something. If you hit the routing key in the lower left it will repeat the last directions.

    5 of 5 Navigon 5100 Tuesday, August 26, 2008
    A Customer from Midlothian VA
The voice is not loud enough and after having other GPS devices, I am not satisfied with the prompts that are given. I have also experienced not being able to pick up a signal in places where others seem to work. I was not given any heads up for traffic. I am not sure how the system works..How much time it takes etc, but I was in a traffic jam and I was never alerted to the fact that it was even there. I am not sure it is all that user friendly when it comes to finding a route via roads you want to take or roads you want to avoid. But I have not really played with that much. Also, it would be nice if it came with a home charger. You feel like it is not charged because it takes so long to come on. POI points of interest is difficult. I have not been successful in using it and I was trying to find a golf course and a hospital and there was one more place that I didn't find. So many complaints because I have used others...It really was an ok machine though.

    5 of 5 A REALISTIC REVIEW Monday, August 25, 2008
    POOYA from IRVINE, CA
THIS UNIT IS VERY GOOD FOR THE PRICE ESPECIALLY SINCE IT IS REFURBISHED. I WAS HESITANT TO BUY IT BECAUSE US MARKET IS FILLED WITH GARMIN AND TOMTOM AND NAVIGON IS NOT KNOWN HERE. IF YOU USED TO HAVE ANOTHER BRAND BEFORE, YOU MAY FIND USING THIS UNIT DIFFERENT. AFTER A COUPLE OF TIME YOU GET USED TO IT TOUGH. THE UNIT CATCHES SATELITE A LITTLE LATE (TAKES ABOUT 3-4 MINUTES) BUT WHEN IT GETS THE SIGNAL IS ALMOST NEVER LOSES IT. IT DOESN'T HAVE THE FANCY OPTIONS OF BLUTOOTH, MP3 PLAYER OR IMIAGE REVIEWER BECAUSE IT IS A GPS SYSTEM NOT A TOY!! OVERALL, I AM VERY SATISFIED WITH MY PURCHASE AND VERY HAPPY WITH THE TRAFFIC SERVICE ON IT AS WELL. OTHER FEATURES LIKE 3D STREET VIEW OR LANE GUIDANCE ARE JUST FANCY AND NOT VERY USEFUL. YOU CAN ALSO PAY 50$ TO GET THE MOST UPDATED MAPES FOR 3 YEARS IN ROW FROM NAVIGON WHICH IS A GREAT DEAL TOO. SO TRASH ALL THOSE TEMPTING DEALS FROM BIG GPS BRANDS AND SHOP SMART :)
