4 of 5 Nice product with some cons Tuesday, October 13, 2009
    A Customer from Aurora, CO

PROS: Price. Map is good. Some features like Reality View and Lane Assistant are really neat. Reads an SDHC card (I sometimes use it as an SDHC card reader). CONS: POI is WAY fewer than what other GPS softwares come with. Interface is not very intuitive.

The entry takes a few seconds per letter and some letters just won't get accepted! (touch screen problem? dead pixel?) Speaking voice has cracking sound. POI is horrible, especially searching for office.can't find a FedEX or UPS location. I end up buying the Garmin Nuvi 265wt its awesome!!! the hotest GPS now!!I LOVE IT!!

    4 of 5 Navigon 2100 max Saturday, March 07, 2009
    Ken from Massachusetts
Great little unit overall. Sometimes, when you input an address it will not let you input the city and will default to several choices, can be aggravating. Excellent display and features and easiest to use 'right out of the box'. Good value for the price.

    5 of 5 The Navigon 2100max and Buy.com are a great match! Wednesday, March 04, 2009
    Rick M. from Anna, Illinois
I had bought the TomTom Go930 and it has some things this GPS system doesn't, but this system offers the better things that the TomTom didn't like lifetime trafic reports and names and logos of business your coming up on or passing. The Navigon 2100max is more accurate directions have catered more to the US than The TomTom with is more for europe. Example I live in a very small town and the TomTom had my house located a half block in the other direction, where as the the Navigon was on the money, and after only two days owning the TomTom I sent it back and spent less on the navigon 2100max and got alot more for my money. Buy.com is a good retail site, after only using them once. I see me ordering from them again in the future.

    5 of 5 Love It!! Tuesday, February 24, 2009
    Dan from Yakima, WA.
I love how this GPS works and looks. Now that being said, I have only use a one other well known GPS before which was nice but this one seems to stand out with the color and love it when you coming up to an exit on the freeway and the freeway signs come to the screen. I love it and really enjoying it.

5 of 5 Navigon is the best gps on market Tuesday, February 10, 2009
    mike from strausstown, pa
so far, i have bough 3 gps. one for myself, one for my dad, and one for my grandfather. the one i bought was an older Navigon unit, something like a pocklox. almost the same program running as the one above, execpt a few tweaks, and so easy to use. i just bought my dad a brand new Magellan Maestro 4250. after i got it, i was so confussed at how it work. it also shut down for no reason, and took you longer ways. over all, the thing is worth more as a brick. i just bought my grandfather the Navigon 2100MAX and he freaking loves it. it is so easy to use, and it ALSO COMES WITH FREE TRAFFIC UPDATES FOR A LIFETIME. you just need to activate it online. that was a real bonus. i went with Navigon because i knew that my older one worked better then my dads brand new one. again, Navigon proves to be the best GPS on the market.

    5 of 5 Highly recommend Monday, January 05, 2009
    BG from Highland, MD
I've used a Magellan, Tomtom, Garmin, Navigon 5100, and built in Acura GPS. I bought the Navigon 2100 max for the lifetime live traffic info and bigger screen. I especially like that it does not need an external antenna for the traffic info (neat and clean). I like the 'over speed limit' warning since there are many speed cameras around here. I would have liked the unit to automatically adjust the screen to day/night, auto on/off, and have better POI like my Garmin 350. Bluetooth would also have been nice, but the extra cost wast not worth it for me. The Navigon 5100 (3.5")uses an external antenna which I drape over the rear view mirror and sun visor. Go online and Navigon gives you the codes to unlock the live traffic service for the 2100 max( 4.3")($100 value). For the price, size, and features, I highly recommend this product.

    5 of 5 Good GPS Thursday, December 11, 2008
    CJ from Evergreen, Colorado
This unit works very well and even gets a signal in my hometown where I do not even get cell phone service. The screen size is good and so is the display. The night feature is also a plus! Voice could be a little clearer but overall this is a great value and has not gotten me lost yet! Very satisfied.

Great product. Love the interface. My only downgrade was that the screen contrast needs to be better to read in daylight. Nighttime is wonderful. Would buy another in a heart beat.

4 of 5 Maybe Too many Features? Tuesday, July 29, 2008
    Joe from Plainview, NY
I just got this unit and have used it for the past week. My previous unit was a Garmin, which still have some pros over this navigon. The Good: Lots of features for this price. Text to Speech is good, but some pronunciations are wierd. Traffic alert good, but, but, have not used it enough to comment. Bad: The glossy case finish is distracting. The mount is kind of ungainly. The worse thing about this unit is that the lettering is very small for a 4.3" screen. I was able to adjust this on my Garmin. Not easy to see the screen in bright sunlight. I hate that this unit does not beep when you touch the screen to let you know that it has read your prompt. As it takes a second or so for it to react. I think the biggest problem with GPS units is the size of the lettering and glare off the screen. You can't tilt the unit from left to right once it is mounted to the windshield. You can't choose how much detail to show, other than the street names. The ETA time is so small you have to get up close to read it. The best thing you can do is turn off the compass (way too small) and the journey time and ETA to clear the screen of clutter. I may trade in for a Garmin, still thinking about it.

5 of 5 Really great gps... Saturday, July 26, 2008
    A Customer from Richmond, VA
i bought this GPS for myself a year back and its been with me since then guiding me through all the new roads. Best thing about this GPS is the reality view, which helps a lot at busy interstates unlike the other ones which just say just keep on the right or left, it actually shows you which lane you have to be on. I bought one for my girlfriend also and she also loved it. It is the best in the market for this price. Does not have those extra features like MP3 but to be really honest who hears MP3 on gps. when we have nice music systems in all cars....:-) Touch screen is good and big, all the poi's are up to date. Unless and untill you are looking for someplace which was built recently. I am really happy with my gps...:-)

2 of 5 It has a lot of good features - at what price? Tuesday, June 24, 2008
    A Customer from Arlington, TX
I purchased at $200+freeSH. Using it everyday for almost 2-wk. PRO: It works as advertised and has cool screen graphic. User able to choose what need to be display. Got tons of user functions. Screen also show fast food logo, cool!. quick access to screen menu like speaker or repeat instruction. It will get you places. lots of Point of Interest with address and phone #. CON: Acquiring signal is a bit slow. Address Entry is painful and time consuming. The entry takes a few seconds per letter and some letters just won't get accepted! (touch screen problem? dead pixel?) Speaking voice has cracking sound. Instruction is too long. It has heavy "sh", "ch", "t", etc sound. VERY annoying. This thing talks too much. with poor quality speaker, I absolutely hate it. All the wonderful features of this unit for $200 is a great price. With annoying voice for every turn I took, priceless. (Grrrrr... I am using this unit with voice instruction OFF) I am not recommend buying this unit.

5 of 5 Much Better Than Other GPS Systems! Monday, June 16, 2008
    Ted from NJ
I bought the Navigon 2100 after comparing it to the bigger name brands and found the features and functionality significantly better, plus the price was much lower. The Text to Speech was a key factor (don't waste money on a GPS without it), voice propmts and text to speech are different - Text to speech actually says the street name. The 3-D reality view is one of the best features of this GPS. The maps are easy to update via computer. The Traffic function doesn't seem to work that well, but the other features overshadow that shortcoming.

    5 of 5 Navigon 2100 Max Wednesday, June 11, 2008
    texnews from Dallas, TX
Very good product. Easy to use. Big screen, easy to install in a car. THere is no manual, but you can download it from the web. I still don't understand how to update the map, but may be I just don't have time for digging the manual. Audio quality is really good, and prompts are on time, it is important when you are on a highway. There was only one problem so far. Navigon said there is Chevron station to get gas on the right, I drove over there, but the owner of the store said Chevron was there 2 years ago and now they have a State Inspection store. I don't know how to report that to change a software. But hardware is perfect!

3 of 5 Kinks not quite out Yet. Tuesday, May 20, 2008
    Christian from New York
The 2100 max has the potential for greatness but address several issues, perhaps as the software gets regularly updated. The first being the routing. While they do use a different algorythm to compute directions, it is hit or miss as to the most ideal route. Some routing takes me through the most logical steps, but then others are so far off kilter as to be (and I have done the mathematical calc) 43% difference in trip duration in time from their "optimum" setting to my known route. The zoom feature is not logical nor helpful as it is solely speed related. The fit and finish is beautiful. Buttons on the touchscreen are way too small and renders you to make your entries ONLY when stopped. The screen is not bright enough on sunny days. I was hoping for an awesome product, but the lure of the sexiness of this unit definitely sets you up for disappointment. I will stick with the unit out of sheer pride I guess, but for all the boringness of the Garmin, it was definitely a much better user friendly product which stoicly did what what was asked of it --- to navigate.

4 of 5 Looks good, performs good. Saturday, May 10, 2008
    Brian from Minneapolis, MN
Pros: Good looks, easy to follow map interface, accuracy of lane assistance. Cons: Slow performance, Reality View is a static image. ---- This is the first GPS I have owned. Overall, I like the GPS. The GPS is loaded with some nice features. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a GPS. Unfortunatly, I can't compare its performance to a Garmin or Magellan. The following are my observations. Position on the GPS is slow to refresh. I will drive though an intersection before it is reported on the GPS (even going only 30mph). Speed warning doesn't have the correct speed for all roads. Many of our roads are 60 or 65 mph and the GPS warns me as if they were 55 mph roads. I tend to accidentally turn on/off the GPS unit, when mounting or removing the GPS from the mount, as the power button is right where I put my fingers when gripping the GPS to mount or unmount it. Reality view is a cool feature, it would be even better if it was animated. When venturing outside the designated route, it took three intersections (nearly a mile) before it would re-calculate the route. It kept telling me to make a u-turn. I am happily satisfied with this product, just not blown away. It was a good value for the price, compared to the competition.

5 of 5 great gps unit Wednesday, May 07, 2008
    A Customer from Chicago IL
This GPS is great. I recently moved to chicago and needed a GPS to find my way around. A month ago I read a lot of reviews about other units and I bought this one because of the good reviews the other navigon units have got and I am very happy with it so far. The large screen is really easy to see day or night and you can have the brightness auto dim at night. This unit grabs the satalite connection in about 3 to 4 seconds which some have said it took them a long time with the previous models. I have not lost satelite connection yet which was suprising to me because I used my father inlaws garmin before and inbetween skyscrapers the garmin would loose the connection. I found the 3d reality view with lane assist really nice on the tollways. Its nice to know what lanes you need to be in before the turn. It only uses this feature on major highways though. The unit also shows icons of popular points of interests which is really nice. You actually see the arches when a Mcdonalds is coming up or a gas pump with BP next to it for gas. Probably not needed but very handy. It wasnt as easy as the garmin to look up POIs but within 10 minutes of playing with it I figured out how to do it pretty easily. I did notice the preloaded POIs are different for each of the navigon units. You can see the different set ups if you compare the units on navigons website. I was trying to decide between this one and the 7100 with free traffic alerts. The POI categories better fit what i needed on this unit. The one feature I was dissapointed with was the speed limit sign that tells the speed of the road that your driving on. This feature only seems to work on major highways not around town where I needed it the most. It seems all the back roads by my new house jump around anywhere from 25 to 55 and I was hoping this would help me know what the speed limit is anytime I looked at my GPS. So that also means that the stuff linked to the speed like the warning alarms for going to fast will only work on main highways. I would definately recommend this GPS unit. It does a great job getting you where you need to go and if you miss a turn it reroutes quickly.
