The cones are made of a unique glass aramide composite material. This material exhibits an excellent stiffness-to-mass ratio and provides superior internal damping for extremely low-distortion performance under high-output sound level conditions. The cones are terminated to the basket with a butyl-rubber surround for extremely effective damping that's essential for a smooth, uncolored frequency response. Even the cone geometry is carefully optimized for controlled smooth frequency dispersion and the suppression of unwanted resonance's.
