Optimized for photography, navigation, and Internet connectivity, the Nokia N82 smartphone enables you to travel the globe with its quad-band GSM connectivity and easily stay connected with friends and business colleagues. It features a 5-megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics and built-in GPS and Nokia Maps software for easy spelunking wherever you may find yourself. The phone also offers Wi-Fi connectivity (802.11b/g) for accessing open networks at home or on the road at hotspots as well as compatibility with 2100 MHz 3G networks (in Europe and Asia). Other features include Bluetooth connectivity for communication headsets, 100 MB of onboard memory, MicroSD expansion, FM radio, digital audio player, Symbian OS, and up to 4.3 hours of GSM talk time.
This unlocked cell phone can be used with a GSM network service provider and it provides quad-band connectivity (850 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 1900 MHz). It does not come with a SIM card, and it requires that you provide a SIM card for usage with your selected service provider. When paired with a compatible 3G network that uses UMTS 2100 MHz connectivity (found in Europe and Asia), you'll enjoy a variety of feature-rich wireless services with speeds up to 384 Kbps--from data connectivity to your office to multimedia streaming, and take advantage of simultaneous voice and data services. In the United States and foreign territories where 2100 MHz 3G networks are not available, you'll continue to receive data service via EDGE network (depending on network compatibility).

It's based on S60 software operating on the Symbian OS, enabling you to personalize the N82 by choosing from the Ovi family of Nokia internet services, including Nokia Music Store, N-Gage games and Nokia Maps. The phone has a 100 MB internal memory, and it's expandable via MicroSD memory cards (up to 4 GB in size).
The Nokia N82 actually has two cameras, a high resolution camera on the back of the device (the main camera in landscape mode) and a lower resolution camera on the front (CIF resolution, 352 x 288). Photos and video clips can be enjoyed on a compatible television thanks to the device's TV out feature and support for Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) technology.
With high speed Wi-Fi connectivity and one-click upload to online communities, the N82 makes sharing your experiences and discoveries easy. When viewing a picture or video, simply one press of a button starts uploading it while you carry on using the other phone functions.
The integrated A-GPS and preinstalled Nokia Maps help you explore and locate new places, whether in another country or just around the corner. With access to more than 15 million points of interest, you can locate and navigate to the most interesting sights, bars or restaurants wherever you are. You can also send map excerpts and routes to friends by MMS or save map screen shots to the gallery.

5 of 5 A great legend by Nokia Thursday, May 07, 2009 J. H. Huang from Stillwater, Oklahoma
This powerful phone has everything: GPS, Wi-Fi, games, music player, and a 5-megapixel camera with xenon falsh light. It is still the best phonecam since its debut in November 2007.
It takes time to get used to the small keypads. Accelerometer is a little bit sensitive.

5 of 5 Love this phone... What I wa waiting for Wednesday, March 25, 2009 Brad from Milford, CT
I have been waiting for a phone with more freedom than my Nokia 6230 (purchased in 2004)... There are a lot of phones out there with web browser or GPS, or media features, but the service providers lock out a lot of the features and charge you to use them. For example my 6230 let me do full bluetooth sync with any bluetooth devices so I didn't have to pay to transfer files... Anyway... Broke this thing out of the box and lost a lot of sleep playing with all the features. The fact that I can access wireless networks to get internet as opposed to paying $60/month for a data plan made me REALLY happy. It takes some fooling around with customization to make it work as you please, but there are lots of forums with great info on shortcuts and optimizing. Camera is AWESOME. GPS is great. Bluetooth fully unlocked of course. Threw in an 8GB microSD card and I'm not even suyre what to do with it yet... Maybe record DVD some quality videos! Very, very happy with my purchase! Nokia makes the best phones and there's no doubt about it.
The only thing that I don't like about the phone is the quick launch button located right in between the cancel (c) key and the right selection key. I've pressed that many times trying to clear or delete text messages tha I've typed. It could be a bit annoying.
The keyboard at the begining was horrible but after about 3 or 4 days you get used to it and the convenience of equally spaced keys.
Overall a good phone but Nokia can do better. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 BEST PHONE FOR ME!!! Tuesday, February 10, 2009 A Customer from NY, NY
Before getting this device I had the iphone 4gb. I had some good times with the iphone but after 3weeks I started to get bored of it. So I decided to look into a new phone. I wanted something that was the best overall device in terms of functionality and was a decent camera phone with a lens cover. This was when I found the Nokia N82. The pictures are superb, the speakers are far superior to those of the iphone, it looks stunning in my opinion and it feels great in my hand. It is also very fast on WIFI and is able to do almost everything the iphone can do and MORE.
Although I won't go as far to say that this device is better than the iphone in terms of entertainment, it does come pretty close.
Recently I got the ipod touch 16gb 2nd generation along with my nokia N82. So now I have the best of both worlds.
I really recommend this awesome phone, you won't regret it! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great Phone Monday, December 22, 2008 Baliran from Memphs, TN
This is a great phone. I travel to Asia and Europe during the year and it works everywhere. The mapping is also good. I use this in the US to find my way.
Pros: Good camera, wifi, mapping, sound quality.
Cons: Buttons are a little small, sometimes it will lock up and you must remove the battery to restart. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 One of the Best N Series Nokia Phones Tuesday, November 18, 2008 A Customer from IL
Pros: Camera w/ Xenon Flash = Great Pic Quality, even when i take pictures with all lights closed at night in my room, the picture is as clear as if it was taken in the morning
it supports most of the media formats, has wifi and almost every other feature which you can see for yourself on nseries.com or up here
Cons: the keypad takes sometime to get used to, but once you get used to it, took me about a week or so, its great, typing is actually mch easier on it when you are in class and are holding your phone under the table :P you know exactly what key you are pressing... hahaha
i only wish the GPS worked via gprs/satellite instead of internet so i wouldnt have to pay for it, but i guess it will be a few years before they start offering that in phones, so for now, this phone is pretty much one of the best in the market,
5/5 from me

5 of 5 Best phone by Nokia! Wednesday, August 27, 2008 Faiz from Kansas City MO
Pros: Camera!, Candybar (its a preference for me), 2 speakers, 3D accelerator (you can't begin to imagine the fun you'll have with this...especially with all the latest apps which exploit this functionality!), small in size...fits in my pocket perfectly, 3.5mm jack, 2gb microSD memory card provided with SD adapter.
<br><br>
Cons: Keypad isn't the best one around...its not easy but its not something you can't live without. For some who have used phones with bigger screens like N95 will feel that the screen is small...its actually not that small and it has pretty good readability.
<br><br>
I wouldn't really call the above mentioned "Cons" as disadvantages. Coz they aren't really a big deal. The battery is an important factor...and this phone has an average battery which would ofcourse depend on your usage...I feel that the battery is OK. The first 2 days after I got this phone, I drained the battery in 12hours...but that was coz I was installing a lot of apps and testing the phone in every way possible. This phone won't turn heads if you show it to someone, but once they check out the features and the capabilities of this phone...they'll be bowled over!
Overall this phone is a multimedia packed stallion! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Best phone by Nokia! Monday, August 25, 2008 Faiz from Kansas City MO
I have been a big fan of Nokia phones. But the issues they had with battery, start up times and slow processing speed, plus lack of all features in one phone....this is all solved by the N82! The only con in this phone is that its not flashy. I like the look but when someone looks at it, they aren't gonna be in awe at first. But once they check out the features...I'm sure they'll be breathless. It comes with a 2GB micro SD card, which is good for starters, I'll probably buy one with more space later on. The camera is awesome! Don't need my digital cam anymore...this is more than good for me, a casual photographer. The battery is good depending on the usage, I was draining it initially a lot bcoz of all the experimenting I was doing. Wifi is amazing, connection is sometimes better than my laptop! Keypad is average, some might find it uncomfortable, but nothing you can't live with. You'll get used to it soon. This phone is feature packed and the best part, its affordable and comes in a very good size compared to the N95 and iphone which are huge for my jeans pockets. This phone is the perfect size! 5 of 5 a good choice.. Saturday, August 23, 2008 Dom from LA, CA
Used the phone for two weeks. has a good battery, camera and everything you want in a cell. Except for the reason that you need to buy a license for voice-guided GPS and a slight squeaky sound the keypad makes, everything else works great. works fine with US carrier (ATT). i actually liked it and really recommend it if you are thinking of getting a new cell phone. 5 of 5 Nokia N82 Monday, August 18, 2008 A Customer from Lynnwood, WA
This phone is still the only model that has everything you will love. 3.5 mm stereo/TV output for your headphones (all the rest phones will require adaptors) on top of the phone which is the best position for it. 30 fps. video (playback and recording). The best camera so far. GPS receiver. WIFI. You probably know the rest. The rest brands and models of phones will have one or another feature but not all as are on N82. On top of it BUY.COM offers the very best price which is at least $45 less from whenever you look for. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Storytelling Tuesday, July 15, 2008 Kevin Neely from Boca Raton, FL
I have been using my new black n82 for about two weeks now. I had used a previous Nseries device, so it took no time at all to get used to the n82. This is not just a phone, it is a mobile story-telling device. It takes excellent pictures and videos (which I have the handset configured to automatically upload to my photo-sharing site, without any extra clicks), play mp3s, podcasts, and FM radio stations, checks e-mail, tells you your GPS position with maps and so much more.
If you have this device and are only using it as a phone and sometimes camera, I suggest you look at some sites out there with the additional software that truly make this a computer in your pocket. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Fantastic Monday, July 14, 2008 kbraeger from Sacramento, CA
This phone works great. I use it to browse the internet using a free Opera browser and an apple bluetooth keyboard. The GPS works great, it is amazing all of the features that are packed into this tiny phone.
The camera and the Xenon flash take great pictures, and it allows posting them to the web with about three clicks.
I currently have both my gmail and my yahoo e-mail accounts pushed to the phone. It is so easy to send icture, voice, and video messages to another user-no convoluted saving and finding procedures,
The only complaint that I have is that I have to use my fingernails to hit the buttons. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 decent phone Monday, June 30, 2008 A Customer from Boston, MA
this nokia has met my expectations. as a multi-functional phone it really shines. the GPS works fine (can take several minutes to get a lock depending on environmental factors). the camera is great. got a prepaid t-mobile account and fring/skype for voip calls. some issues with ngage game downloads but this could be user error - the phone is xhtml compatible so thats not the issue. 5 of 5 Great phone... Friday, June 27, 2008 oh from Largo, FL
Powerful phone. I had this phone for about 6 month now (silver) and will get the black on shortly. The 5mp with Zenon flash is awesome! I use the phone as my digital camera...take every pictures perfect. The GPS work great, stand alone internal GPS, learn how to unlock it and you will have a GPS for free! And yea, this is my personal MP3 player also. It might be a bit bigger but work fine for me, i have an 8gb TF for it, the phone can take up to 32gb.....massive stuff. Battery life is great, nokia do a great job with it, as you can see, i use it for MP3, phone and GPS but still hold up to the use. I use to have iphone but switch to Nokia to give it a try. The iphone is easier to use for MP3 and watch movie cause of the touch screen control, but this phone kill it on everything else. It's an all in one phone, I was very impressed by it. Plus the black will look sexy too. Was this review helpful?

I waited a long time for the black N82 because I felt that it was much better looking than the original white/silver color and I was not disappointed. I got the N82 because I wanted an all-in-one device that I could still seasily fit in my pocket: smart phone, 5MP camera with Xenon flash (not a lot of phones out there with a xenon flash), web surfing via wi-fi, MP3 player, GPS, etc. I bought an 8GB micro SDHC card to replace the 2GB that comes standard and BAM, this phone truly rocks.
