A Powerful Remedy for Your Boredom Problem.

Features: DVD

It's Mystery Science Theater 3000, America's only show that makes fun of really bad B movies from the comfort of a spaceship floating above Earth. Joel Hodgson, along with his mechanical companions, wisecracking Crow an well-read chick magnet Tom Servo, make suffering through Hollywood's worst films a breeze. Adding their own dialogue, barrage of witty remarks, and an occasional colorful skit, the next hour and a half will fly by like it were only 90 minutes. There's no ushers with flashlights, crying babies, or women with big hair to spoil the fun.

What can you say about a movie in which an old hag named Batwoman and her bevy of bikini-clad beauties go-go dance their way in and out of trouble brought on by an overweight villain named Rat Fink? Plenty! Crow sums it up best: "It looks like they just put a whole lotta movies in a blender and turned it on really fast." Not to say The Wild World of Batwoman has no redeeming value. Even Tom notices that, "The music's terrible, but at least it drowns out the dialogue." Now, you can say the plot is weak -- Tom: "The plot is weak" -- and that the acting's atrocious -- Crow: "The acting's atrocious" -- but one thing this movie's got that we haven't seen in any other is an atomic bomb disguised as an atomic hearing aid, disguised as...Oh, just watch the film!

"...a nearly perfect amalgamation of premise, presentation, and performance..."  Bill Gibron, DVD Verdict
"...entertaining and, at times, riotous...[a] unique and funny program..."  DVDizzy.com
"There is so much going on in these shows...they are wonderful to watch over and over. Every time I watch them I hear a joke or see something new that I hadn't seen before."  John Sinnott, DVD Talk
"...for fans of the series and those just starting in on the scripted mockery experience."  Nate Yapp, Classic-Horror.com
"...reaches peak levels of lunacy, and every element of moviemaking starts to seem inherently ludicrous."  Noel Murray, The Onion A.V. Club

Editor's Note

The cruel victim of a diabolical movie-watching experiment, Mike Nelson is stranded in space and forced to watch terrible movies. This time join Mike and the Bots as they take on THE WILD WORLD OF BATWOMAN, in which a bunch of women in bikinis, led by Batwoman, are battling the nefarious Rat Fink. One of the more bizarre episodes of the popular series, featuring mad scientists, go-go dancers, and an cloned horde of masked villains.

2 of 5 It's Mike, not Joel. Saturday, October 05, 2002
ecd from Atlanta, GA

As with any episode of MST3K starring Mike, it pales in comparison to Joel's antics and jokes. The only redeeming factor of this whole DVD is the "Cheating" short that precedes the Batwoman feature, and provides a plot for our Satellite of Love characters to re-enact in their non-heckling mode. The movie they watch is SO terrible, they can't even think up good jokes to crack at its expense for pretty close to the whole time the movie plays. TV's Frank and Professor F. are even at what appears to be their worst - this episode should be taken as exemplary of the Mike years of MST3K, which were dreadful.
