| | | From the director of Austin Powers. Features: DVD, Aspect Ratio 2.35:1, Dolby Digital (5.1) Starring Russell Crowe, Hank Azaria, Mary McCormack, Lolita Davidovich and Burt Reynolds, Mystery, Alaska is an engaging tale of David and Goliath on ice. A publicity stunt turns into the ultimate lop-sided competition in Mystery, Alaska when the world-famous New York Rangers face off against the team from Mystery, Alaska, a small town with a population of 633 ardent hockey fans. Comprised of a rag-tag collection of eccentric locals including the town's sheriff, its grocer, a delivery man and a high school senior, Team Mystery plays strictly for the love of the game. Before long, everyone in town is swept up by the prospect of an NHL challenge. "The Rocky of hockey!" Ted Goldenberg, FOX-TV "This is a sensational movie!" Larry King, USA Today "Full of action, suspense and heart!" Jason Miller, ABC-TV
 Editor's Note
When former resident Charles Danner (Azaria) writes a Sports Illustrated article exposing the "Saturday Game," the town of Mystery, Alaska is turned upside down. The game, a Mystery tradition, consists of locals, young and old, who gather weekly on a pond to play a serious game of hockey. A sports network sees big bucks in setting up an exhibition game between the Alaskans and the New York Rangers. Coming from mega-writer/producer Kelley and co-screenwriter O'Byrne, the film plays like a quirky blend of NORTHERN EXPOSURE and SLAPSHOT.
