Old age hasn't dampened Uncle Silas's taste for mischief. And when his nephew Edward visits for the summer, Silas (Albert Finney) becomes the boy's boisterous companion while remaining, as always, a constant thorn in the side of housekeeper Mrs. Betts (Sue Johnston). Based on the novels by H. E. Bates, and brought to the screen courtesy of Masterpiece Theatre, this second series presents more of the pair's comic adventures in the English countryside.
