4 of 5 good value for money Thursday, May 14, 2009
Glenn from NM

Works sufficiently well with the Intel Atom processor and all the other hardware under the hood. I wiped it and installed windows 7 that I downloaded from Microsoft. Windows 7 installed and works flawless on this netbook. Only one annoyance, MSI should have put a multifunction touchpad in with a sidebar drag thingy, since I really miss my scrollwheel with websites. Overall this is an extremely good deal with the added carry-bag and the ability for the 2 gb memory upgrade, plus an optional 9-cell battery.

4 of 5 Very Good Netbook Tuesday, May 05, 2009
Steve A. from Pembroke Pines, FL
I was like a kid at Christmas when my MSI arrived along w/ the 2 GB Corsair memory. Like some I had trouble opening up the back panel because the "void warranty" sticker has a screw behind it that I didn't notice (duh, a blonde moment). I first booted the pc and disabled onboard RAM. Then powered down, and the memory was very easy to insert. Powered back on the 2GB registered and away I went. The only negatives are the tinny speakers are the worst ever for any computer and the keyboard of course takes a bit to get used to but no biggie. Actually there are 4 negatives, also the battery is around 4 hours, the 6-8 hr range would be ideal. Also, I use yahoo mail and a lot of times it asks me if I want to go back to classic becuase of the resolution. Would love the 768 vertical resolution. Other than that it's awesome. Just remember to press fn+f11 to turn on wireless. I did also update the wireless driver and tweaked some settings posted on msi wind forums as a lot of people have issues w/ the wireless. The wireless is working flawlessly for me. Good luck and hope this helps!

5 of 5 perfect macbook nano Wednesday, March 25, 2009
John G from Marlboro, NJ
This is a great little machine for running os x. In response to previous post ...adding extra memory or replacing HD to a bigger one does NOT void the warranty according to MSI (I have their email response for proof) even if you have to remove the "warranty void" sticker... provided you do not touch other parts inside. I've added another 1GB ram and with latest bios you can overclock this baby to almost 1.9 ghz. Running xp,os x and ubuntu triple boot flawlessly.

5 of 5 Packs a Punch for the Price Monday, March 23, 2009
PC from Rochester, NY
Overall very satisfied with this product. Will comment on two areas: 1. Wireless antenna range seems very short. It seems as though everyone else around me is getting more signals and stronger signals. 2. Haven't figured out how to add memory without voiding the warranty. Have sent a couple of emails with no response. Had to reload some drivers from the website for blue tooth and this was painless. You can't beat this machine for the money. It is so lite I sometimes forget I have it with me.

5 of 5 Great little computer does a lot Sunday, March 01, 2009
Carl from Leawood, KS
This is a very handy little computer mi wife and I use all the time to stay in touch with friends and family through Messenger, Skype and email, to read online newspapers and surf the Internet in general. The built-in camera, microphone and speakers are perfect for use with Skype, no need to use headphones with microphone anymore. Gets going and connects in seconds. You put it aside and it goes into a battery saving mode, the charge would normally last a couple of days of use. We have two other computers in our home, this one is now being used mostly, from anywhere in our home, where we run wireless N. Works very well when traveling.

5 of 5 Fits the Bill Tuesday, February 24, 2009
PC from Rochester, NY
This is just what the doctor ordered. My old laptop weighs almost four times this new computer. It has functioned as promised and the battery life is reasonable given the size and weight. A great value.

5 of 5 Happy with machine Tuesday, February 03, 2009
mike from buffalo, ny
I've been using it for about 3 weeks now for school. The screen isn't big enough to do large spreadsheets or databases, but it's great for in-class note taking and killing time by surfing the net. Sometimes opening webpages w/ lots of flash and pdf files from a website take a while to load. The six-cell battery is definitely beneficial since I don't always have an outlet near me, I get about 4.5 hrs out of it. I have small hands, so keyboard isn't an issue with me. So far, I've been really happy with it, no complaints.

5 of 5 A Better Mousetrap Tuesday, January 27, 2009
Mitchell Keil from Fountain Valley CA
Bottom line. If you are looking for a small extremely portable and fairly powerful substitute for carrying a laptop and find seeing the fonts on the tiny screens of a PDA or Windows CE phone difficult and frustrating, then this MSI U100 may be just the machine to buy. It is more expensive than many of the others out there, but carries a feature set that is more functional than any other I looked at. It has b/g/n when most others only give you b/g. It has bluetooth built in. Most others do not. It has a 6 cell battery where most have 3 cells. It has a VGA out; most don't. It has a keyboard with almost 85% of the size of a 15 inch unit, so large fingers can type with reasonable accuracy and comfort. It is quieter than any I have seen or tested. It can over-clock by about 30% when plugged in increasing processor speed appreciably and under-clock when not plugged in thus extending battery life. No other netbook can do this at all.It comes with 1G of memory with room for another G. Its screen is bright and readable even outside. And it comes with a 160g SATA drive running at 5400rpm. It also does not come with tons of programs built in, something I am so grateful for. It is "sweet" little machine that handles most daily computing chores with aplomb and with little effort. I have been using it at meetings, at home, at lunch when I need to be on top of something and it takes up very little room to carry or use. I suppose my only fear is someday leaving it someplace because it so compact and easy to carry.

5 of 5 Exactly what I wanted Monday, January 26, 2009
Jared from Chicago, IL
I'm moderately adept with computers. My home pc needs are strictly for entertainment- internet, downloading movies and music, playback to external LCD TV. This was exactly what I wanted. Small & light overall. Substantial memory. Easily plays on my LCD tv through HDMI. Wi-fi works well. Great power options- battery life is sufficient. Browsing is great with external wireless mouse, even though touchpad is good- single button mouse not an issue that I was afraid it might be. Keyboard is excellent (best in class). Have not tried SD slot or bluetooth. Thinking of getting bluetooth speakers to use this as a "jukebox" of sorts with iTunes- speakers/volume are not a "drawback", but just barely average. Did a lot of research, and I'm confident this was the right choice for me (have always been a pc type, not mac). (Jan 09)

5 of 5 Flying with the MSI Wind Wednesday, January 21, 2009
A Customer from Vashon, WA
Love the MSI Wind. It is everything I wanted and more. I especially like the 3 USB ports and the wireless N capability. It has replaced a 15" notebook for traveling. And least I forget. It is great for going to different places and not needing to carry the AC adapter because of the long battery life.

5 of 5 A Fantasic Little Machine Monday, January 05, 2009
James from Omaha, NE
The MSI Wind is a fantastic mini-pc. We are getting much more use out of it than initially planned. The keyboard took about 15min to get used to, but after that I haven't had any troubles. Also, the computer doesn't come with any craplets! It was so refreshing to not spend the first two hours on the computer deleting useless programs.

5 of 5 One Amazing Little Machine Wednesday, December 03, 2008
Robert from Hicksville, NY
I went from a 15.4 inch H/P to this little beauty. I have nothing but positive say about is ergonomics, performance, battery life, speed etc, etc. I knew going from a large laptop to a much smaller version would require a bit getting use which was no big deal. This purchase was a no brainer and I recommend this MSI U100-432US to anyone looking to scale down to a casual machine.

5 of 5 Perfect Hackintosh Sunday, November 30, 2008
Mac Man from San Francisco, CA
I did a lot of research, and I'm convinced that as of 11/08, this is the best netbook on the market (well, at least the best under $500). It's the perfect size to blend portability and usability, and has all the right features. Bluetooth is nice to have in a netbook, allowing me to connect a mouse and headset without extra wires. Check out the forums at msiwind.net. From there, I learned how to turn my netbook into a "Hackintosh" by installing OS X Leopard. I don't know much about modifying computers, but it was an easy process. I did make a couple of simple hardware upgrades by adding 1GB RAM and installing a Dell 1510 wifi card. Although the stock Ralink card does have 802.11n, it is limited to 65 Mbps, which is somewhat disappointing. Overall, a great buy. The most disappointing feature is the speakers... but that's about it! This is pretty slick looking too, much better than those Asus boxes.

5 of 5 MSI Wind Netbook is a Sweet little PC! Saturday, November 29, 2008
Dean from Gibraltar, Michigan
I bought this netbook for my wife, because she will travel overseas. It is so small and light, it works better than the laptop it replaced it is fast, the screen is so clear and bright, and the battery lasts about 4 hours. The down side which is not much, there is no manual with the machine and the speakers are very weak. I added more memory, external speakers and a external DVD writer, I do not think there any real down falls with this machine. It is a great travel companion, even if it is from one room to another. The wireless works great too.

5 of 5 Loved it right out the box Tuesday, November 25, 2008
NorCalGirl from California
I purchased this netbook about 2 weeks ago. I downloaded no BIOS or anything else from MSI. I simply took it out the box, removed software I wouldn't be using, installed software I would use, and put it to work. I love it! I spent 1.5 hours typing none stop and I experienced no discomfort from the smaller keyboard. It was a little awkward at first but after the first 10 minutes I was fine. The screen is small yet comfortable for my eyes, and sound from the fan is almost none exisitant. In photos, the models with the six-cell batteries look a bit bulky but in real life, this is not the case. I carry a medium sized purse and I've taken this thing with me everywhere since the day I opened it. There are a few things that you should be aware of. These are not deal breakers in my opinion, but you should be aware. 1.) The speakers are crappy! Don't even waste your time listening to music without headphones. 2.) The owner's manual (which is not included in the box; you must download it from MSI) was obviously written by someone who does not speak English as a first language. It is full of typos and odd grammar. 3.) The packaging claims 5.5 hours of battery life, but it seems more like 4 hours. 4.) The protective case that comes with it is a joke. It is hideous and much larger and bulkier than the computer itself.

5 of 5 Mini laptop! Saturday, November 22, 2008
JaMafia from Washington, DC
I brought my first netbook and love it! One downside: You have to add more light background so webcam will pick frames per second faster and reduce blurry. This thing has overclockable that none other netbooks have! Just download and update 1.09 bios officially from MSI webpage and plug A/C power and press FN + F10. It will overclocked 24 percent from 1600 MHz to 1984 MHz! 384 MHz increasing! The performance is big different with overclock. :-) Also when you remove A/C power and press FN + F10 again, it will underclocked half from 1600 MHz to 800 MHz and set everything to lower for battery max. It was so light that I can carry with me in my small backpack and thought it was weight like a textbook! MSI Wind has 802.11 b/g/n and most netbook doesn't have 802.11 N which is newer technology for wireless internet. It has LED Panel that help saving battery power and is super bright and can adjust brightness easy by press FN + F4 (darker) and FN +F5 (brighter)and the size is 10 inch (1024x600) that you can take advantage to read full webpage viewing. Thank to MSI, they make keyboard big size that enough to type and feel comfortable. It has 2.5" HDD but running slow at 5,200 rpm which spinning make save energy for battery's sake. If you are worried about MSI Wind's screen is too small, you can hook up with VGA port to bigger screen. I love it's size and I can carry it easy like textbook (2.7 pound with 6 cell).
