cover design is stylish, nice processor speed and drive space for such a little thing. Love that it comes with Windows XP. Was this review helpful?

4 of 5 What I expected (mostly) Wednesday, November 19, 2008 Senior male leisure traveler from Indiana
I bought this for leisure travel with size and weight key items and it delivers on that basis. The keyboard is good for such a small unit (some of the netbooks like Acer have really too small keyboards for any serious typing), it works as expected after solving some minor and one major problem. Networking does not work out of the box, you have to turn it on with a function key but I had to get the user guide online to find out how to do so. After getting networking to recognize my wireless network, it would not connect. Getting customer support required registering the product and I quickly got a patch for networking that worked, so quick that they must have known about the problem.
I don't like the power plug, it is very large for such a small unit and has a three prong (grounded) plug which makes it more difficult for international use, bigger and more expensive adapters. They should have a European cord but don't offer one.
XP Home is fine, it is stable and fills most requirements. Was this review helpful?
3 of 5 Not bad but the eee pc 100h is better Wednesday, October 29, 2008 A Customer from Raleigh, NC
I bought this for my wife after getting myself and asus eee pc 1000h. This is not a bad netbook but I must say that overall, the eee pc 1000h is better. First thing I noticed on the wind was the flimsy, loose screen hinges. It felt like the hinges needed some tightening. The asus hinges are built tough. With the wind, any small movement of the notebook and the screen will fall backwards. I had to keep picking it up after moving it. Another thing, the eee give you all the features of the wind for less money. In addition, you get 802.11n, a 160gb hard drive, and a 6 cell battery good for 7 hours. This wind only gives you a 3 cell, a b/g card and 120gb hard drive and yet it still costs more. Like I said, this is a nice notebook, but do yourself a favor and get an eee pc 1000h Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 What a Little Jewel! Sunday, October 19, 2008 Delle Jacobs from Ridgefield, WA
The only thing I can say negative about the MSI Wind is that I was unable to get one before I took my trip to Europe, which meant hours standing in customs and security lines with my 7.5 pound laptop plus its two extra batteries slung over my shoulder. But that just made me appreciate the Wind all the more when I got home and ordered it. And now it slips right into my purse and goes everywhere with me.
I looked at all the minis including the new Dell. They're all tempting. The Wind's selling points for me are the larger keyboard and screen without adding any extra weight, the 120 gb hard drive and 1 gb memory, and the excellent screen, which is bright and sharp, and ANTI-GLARE! I love the magnifier, too. I thought I'd find the heart design a bit cheesy, but it's very nice- rather subdued. (I wanted white but couldn't get it.)
The 6-cell battery would be nice but it wasn't available at the time. But the 3 cell really does last 3 hours, so it will meet my needs for now and later I'll add the 6 cell and use both.
Oh, one negative- the speakers are tinny. But that doesn't matter to me. This is an author's "Starbucks special", and it suits me perfectly.

5 of 5 Great starter notebook Saturday, October 18, 2008 A Customer from San Francisco, CA
Bought this for my 8-year-old daughter to play games, cruise the web and , yes, do homework. It's got all the bells and whistles - wireless connection video camera - and it's light and fashionable and comes with the easier to use and more stable Windows XP. Was this review helpful?

3 of 3 customers found this review helpful. 5 of 5 Some practical oversights Friday, September 26, 2008 A Customer from Toledo, OH
While I really like the design of the wind. I would maybe suggest going ahead and waiting for the 6cell battery. Aside from that, the touchpad is sub-par. I have almost no trouble with the keypad, however, the touchpad is another issue. Mainly it doesnt scroll well at all. I understand that due to the proximity of the keyboard, it may cause other problems if it was overly sensitive. The fact is though, when I try to scroll using the touchpad, only about 60% of my efforts are successfull. If you buy this product, be prepared to compensate for diffucult scrolling. Also, while the bar syle mouse button doesnt phase me, it is a bit narrow. Was this review helpful?
