The EM1000 takes three AA batteries, although you can upgrade to NiMH rechargeables. Just like all Motorola products, these rugged two-way radios are designed for years of reliable service. And with Motorola walkie talkies there are no dropped calls, no roaming charges and never a monthly bill.
