I have tried these radios for safety and casual communications with my bike riding partner when going off road. Twice in our local Tampa, FL parks. They work dependably when you can see each other, most all other circumstances they did not work at all. Even within 1/2 to 1 mile in forested conditions. These may be fine for some, but I am looking for a more powerful and dependable solution. Steve
