    5 of 5 Great price - Good Buy.com experience Sunday, May 17, 2009
    Dave from Harvard,
I got a great price from Buy.com, and delivery was faster than expected. I installed it in place of my failing 4101, and immediately saw performance improvement, with no new drivers required.

5 of 5 Nice upgrade from an older cable modem Monday, May 04, 2009
    Kurt from Bay Area, CA
After puzzling over why I wasn't seeing any of the speed increases from Comcast's upgrades I finally discovered that my old RCA cable modem (docsys 1.1) was limited to 3mbps though I was only averaging around 2mpbs. After some research on Comcast supported cable modems I settled on the Motorola SB 5101. Buy.com had a great price on the OEM version (plain brown box) and I received it in two days (with free shipping)! I spent 15-20 minutes on the phone with Comcast to get the new modem registered on the network and have been running for over a week with no problems. A sampling of speed tests show that I now average around 6mpbs down and 5mbps up (I have the cheapest Comcast plan). Some of the speed tests have been up to 15kbps down (probably due to Comcast's power boost kicking in). I am extremely happy with this modem and wish I had figured out my old modem was holding me back earlier.

5 of 5 happy so far with Motoralla purchase Monday, May 04, 2009
    A Customer from Vancouver, WA
I was impressed with the prices from buy.com. Also their shipping is very reasonable unlike other sites that have good prices but then mark up shipping to make up for the low product price. I haven't used the modem for very long but so far so good. It was easy to hook up and based on other reviews of this same product I am sure it will perform well.

    5 of 5 Motorola SURFboard 5101 Cable Modem Sunday, April 12, 2009
    RichC from Cape Coral, Fl
I purchased this model to replace an earlier version supplied by Comcast without installing any new drivers & it's working great after some tweaking from online support. I wasn't being billed for my original modem but this one will be paid for in about a years time.

    5 of 5 Solid Product - Solid Value Tuesday, March 31, 2009
    fmfl from The Villages, FL
I've been using Motorola modems for years and they have always done a good job. BuyCom is $20 cheaper than WalMart ... the only difference is that it doesn't come in a fancy box ... can't beat a deal like that.

5 of 5 Last one held up for 3 years.... Monday, March 30, 2009
    Sam from Atlanta GA
Really wanted to get the new linksys cable modem because other than a WRK series router I have never had a problem with them. Unfortunately in reading reviews, the clothes hangar abortion gone bad that is comcast support apparently don't know what they are doing = or >%50 of the time and can't get it configured on their system properly. Had a 5120 that I purchased for three years that more than paid for itself before it bricked (considering comcast will bill you $3.00 a month to "lease" one from them). All in all I am fairly happy with it and will be satisfied if I get the same mileage as I did out of the last motorola modem.

    5 of 5 Why Rent? Sunday, March 29, 2009
    A Customer from Arlington, VA
Extremely simple to install. We have many small business customers moving from DSL to Cable for increased speed and lower cost. As long as they are not using VoIP services, we recommend buying this modem instead of renting. We've used it effectively in multiple installations in the DC area with Comcast.

    5 of 5 Cable Modem Saturday, March 28, 2009
    Fred from Northfield, NJ
The cable company recommended this modem as a replacement for the older unit I owned; technician said old one was at the end of its useful life. This one is fine; don't notice it being any faster or anything but it seems like a good replacement unit.

5 of 5 Cable modem worth owning Tuesday, March 17, 2009
    A Customer from Marietta, GA
The Motorola SURFboard 5101 Cable Modem is a no-fuss, easy to install and use modem. If Comcast thinks its good enough to use as their modem to lease to customers, it's worth paying ~$42 to own then $3.00/month to lease.

5 of 5 So far, so good and fast Wednesday, February 18, 2009
    Dick from Nashua, NH
Installed easily, no problems except for the slow Comcast phone registering. Was faster than the SB5120 it replaced. No more rental fees. Soon will be cutting cable tv service to basic. It is so not worth it paying for infomercials, spanish channels, trash tv, etc. I will be seeing what I want online now !

    5 of 5 Works perfect Wednesday, February 18, 2009
    A Customer from Hudson, WI
Works exactly like it should. If you are renting your modem from Comcast you need to talk to someone in Sales to remove the modem from your account before you can give the new MAC address to the tech support folks. The person from Sales even connected me directly to them and it took less than 5 minutes for the new modem to come up on-line. I spent 20 minutes on the phone with the Support person before he figured out the call to Sales was required. Hope this will save someone the frustration I had.

    5 of 5 Such a deal! Monday, December 29, 2008
    Les Larkin from Mundelein, IL
Does all it should, and nothing it shouldn't. This SB5101 replaced an SB5100, which didn't always boot up correctly. I just had to call Comcast and give them the new MAC address, and I was up and running. This new cable modem only ended up costing $21.00 because I got a $30 purchase credit for accepting a Buy.com credit card, and charging the modem on it. Such a deal!
