It's a Weird and Wonderful World When Robin Williams and Pam Dawber Team Up in 24 Hilarious Episodes of Mork & Mindy!

Features: DVD, Pan and Scan (TV Format), Dolby Digital Mono, 4 Discs

Wild, wacky and operating at warp speed, meet Mork from planet Ork - the maniacal alien of Mork & Mindy, the riotous television sitcom presented in this complete Season One DVD collection. Actor-comedian Robin Williams zoomed to stardom with co-star Pam Dawber in this laugh-filled comedy series spawned from a 1978 episode of Happy Days.

Dispatched from Ork in his egg-shaped spacecraft, the lovable Orkan hurtles to Earth near the town of Boulder, Colorado, where he is befriended by pretty college student Mindy McConnell (Dawber). Mork's mission is to observe the bizarre customs of the earthlings and then report back to his great Orkan leader, Orson. He tries his best to adapt to his new environment - not an easy task when you innocently wear your clothes backwards, sit in a chair upside down, or blurt out "Shazbot!" when things go awry. It's an out-of-this-world series of laughs and escapades when human being meets humanoid hurricane in Mork & Mindy.

Includes Mork's Mixed Emotions - Named by TV Guide as one of the greatest episodes in television history!

Editor's Note

What began as a spin-off of popular sitcom HAPPY DAYS evolved into superstardom for Robin Williams in the pleasantly bizarre 1970s television series MORK & MINDY. Hatching from an egg-shaped spacecraft, alien visitor Mork (Williams) lands on Earth to investigate the planet's inhabitants and report his findings to his superior Orson, who appears only as a disembodied voice. Mork finds shelter and friendship with an average Earth woman, Mindy McConnell (Pam Dawber), who serves as bemused foil to some of her roommate's more otherworldly behavior, such as talking to plants or drinking through his fingers. Williams' manic style is tailor-made for his rainbow-suspendered, fish-out-of-water character, and much of the series' charm springs from his eccentric mannerisms and uncanny impersonations. This collection includes all 24 episodes from the show's debut season, which earned Williams a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy series. Na nu, na nu!

"Williams offers plenty of warp-speed shtick..." 09/10/2004 p.151-2

Mork & Mindy was an ABC spin-off from an episode of Happy Days, where Mork and the Fonz became friends, and lasted for five seasons. A second meeting is shown as a flashback and helps set the stage for Mork's problems becoming more Earthling-like. Misfit Mork doesn't fit in on his home planet of Ork; Mork has a sense of humor, and most Orkans have no emotions, much less humor...The show of course, not unlike Third Rock from the Sun, provides plenty of opportunity for social commentary and observations on modern life. However, don't assume that the show is a disguised Afterschool Special; instead of overly serious and pretentious, it's just plain funny...In case you don't remember this show from the late 1970s/early 1980s, then let me tell you that this show is hysterical. A bizarre blend of slapstick and genuinely clever jokes about an outsider's look at Earth, it's never quite what you think it should be. Robin Williams is of course always extraordinary, between the different voices, the physical comedy, and the perfect delivery.
