The Comedy Series That Launched Robin Williams' Career Into Orbit!

Features: DVD

Mork & Mindy was a spin-off from an episode of Happy Days in which Mork, an alien from the planet Ork, attempted to kidnap Richie. So popular was Mork that he was given his own in 1978 and it became an instant hit.

Mork (Robin Williams), a misfit and Ork because of his sense of humor, was sent off to study Earthlings, whose "crazy" customs the "Orkans" had never been able to understand. Mork landed in a giant eggshell near Boulder, Colorado and was befriended by pretty Mindy McConnell (Pam Dawber), a music store clerk. Mork looked human but his strange mix of Orkan and Earthling customs led most people to think of him as just some kind of nut. Aware of his origins, Mindy helped him adjust to Earth's "strange" ways.

The cosmic comedy continues in this four-disc, second season collection. Na Nu, Na Nu!

"...[the] funniest episodes are so amusing that they make this set a must-see."  Jonathan Boudreaux, TVDVDReviews.com

Editor's Note

What began as a spinoff of popular sitcom HAPPY DAYS evolved into superstardom for Robin Williams in the pleasantly bizarre 1970s television series MORK & MINDY. Hatching from an egg-shaped spacecraft, alien visitor Mork (Williams) lands on Earth to investigate the planet's inhabitants and report his findings to his superior, Orson, who appears only as a disembodied voice. Mork finds shelter and friendship with an average Earth woman, Mindy McConnell (Pam Dawber), who serves as bemused foil to some of her roommate's more otherworldly behavior, such as talking to plants or drinking through his fingers. Williams' manic style is tailor-made for his rainbow-suspendered, fish-out-of-water character, and much of the series' charm springs from his eccentric mannerisms and uncanny impersonations. This collection presents every episode from the beloved show's second season. Na nu, na nu!

Mork & Mindy was an ABC spin-off from an episode of Happy Days, where Mork and the Fonz became friends, and lasted for five seasons. A second meeting is shown as a flashback and helps set the stage for Mork's problems becoming more Earthling-like. Misfit Mork doesn't fit in on his home planet of Ork; Mork has a sense of humor, and most Orkans have no emotions, much less humor...The show of course, not unlike Third Rock from the Sun, provides plenty of opportunity for social commentary and observations on modern life. However, don't assume that the show is a disguised Afterschool Special; instead of overly serious and pretentious, it's just plain funny...In case you don't remember this show from the late 1970s/early 1980s, then let me tell you that this show is hysterical. A bizarre blend of slapstick and genuinely clever jokes about an outsider's look at Earth, it's never quite what you think it should be. Robin Williams is of course always extraordinary, between the different voices, the physical comedy, and the perfect delivery.
