 Editor's Note
L.A. gumshoe Mick St. John (Alex O'Loughlin) prowls the darkened streets of L.A. trying to crack his cases. But his predilection for the nightlife doesn't have solely a professional basis--Mick's a vampire. First bitten 60 years ago, Mick now he uses his paranormal powers to help humans rather than drain their blood. But his double life leads to complications caused by his lingering affiliations with the undead--among them his bloodsucking stockbroker friend, Josef (Jason Dohring), and vampiric ex-wife, Coraline (Shannyn Sossamon)--as well as his growing affections for a delectable reporter, Beth (Sophia Myles), who he saved years ago. This collection presents all 16 episodes of the show's first season.

5 of 5 If you like good shows Monday, April 20, 2009 A Viewer from st.cloud mn
I was not to big one the whole "vampire" thing. After missing 3 weeks of the new show,I started watching. This show is not the whole suck your blood. If you like burn notice or csi, then this set is right. It is just a shame that after the writers strike it was hit hard. Check the forums about the show, most wanted to see more. You will not be let down!!!! Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 I'm sorry I missed it on CBS Monday, April 06, 2009 DLJ from Greenwood, IN
After reading the critics' reviews of this series while it was on the air, I can say that this was not a perfect production. It was made to appeal to a very specific, very young age demographic. The sets were gorgeous, the locations were gorgeous, and the actors were very gorgeous and also very young. The dialogue was at times juvenile to the point of being laughable, the flashbacks could be almost painful but guess what? None of that matters. This is a very enjoyable, very romantic vampire/film noir show that kept improving with each episode. It really didn't matter that private detectives (vampire or human) never had such a plush, trendy
bachelor pad, or that the same vampire detective spent so much of his time saving humans, while his best friend killed them on a regular basis. There are so many obvious contradictions to the story plot, yet I enjoyed everyone of them immensely. The lead actor has developed quite a fan base, and deserves a lot of credit for making this series work. And it did work. Most of his fellow actors deserve credit too, often rising above the scripts they were given. If this show had been given the time & support it needed from CBS, I'm sure it would have been even better. As it is, there are sixteen wonderful episodes to enjoy over and over again. Think of it as a gorgeous, updated fairy tale with fangs. Fans of Beauty and the Beast will definitely enjoy this series. Of course, B&B possibly aired before any of the regular actors in this show were even born. Consider Moonlight a guilty pleasure. The music was also very enjoyable. I wish there had been Special Features added to the DVDs. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 AMAZING SERIES!! Friday, March 06, 2009 Cam72 from 02664
Anyone who loves a suspenseful kind of show, this is the show for you! It may seem cheesy that it's about vampires and all, but once you see it, trust me, it will change your mind and any other vampire movie/show will seem armature. I only wish there was a second season! A MUST BUY! Was this review helpful?
