just used it for once on my ski trip. the voice is very clear
Cons:
keep in mind that this can't reach anywhere near 26 mile! probably I would guess around 3 miles in mountain area, and should be even less in the city especially when you'r indoors. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Remarkable Radios Friday, February 13, 2009 Phillip from Las Vegas, NV
I purchased 4 of these radios for 2-way group motorcycle and car-to-car communications on trips. They work remarkably well and have excellent clarity for what we need (1-2 miles, sometimes reach 5 or more). We set them to unique codes and have not had any interference from outside sources. They're also great for locating the wives when they're pillaging small town shops and boutiques... Was this review helpful?

I bought a set of these to use when riding in a group on my motorcycle. I have also used them camping when hiking, etc. For the money, they are a decent little radio. The range is a far cry from the claimed 26 miles, though. I mean really, they must be using a theoretical rating system based in a vacuum with optimum conditions. If I had to guess, I'd say walking range is a couple miles plus/minus. On the bikes when used with a midland motorcycle specific headset we get one mile or so tops unless within site of each other. For the cost, they are good enough. I'd recommend at least getting the 750 if not going ahead and getting the 850 if they are not much more. Was this review helpful?

I bought this pair of GXT-750's to complement an existing pair of Midland GXT-450's. These new 750's are very similar to the 450's. The exceptions being the antenna and the charger. The antenna on the 750 is 3 3/16 inches long and the antenna on the 450 is 1 7/8 inches long. This should make a nice improvement to the range of these new radios. The charger pocket is slightly smaller than the charger for the 450's, thus the chargers will not interchange.
I have only used these new radios once and they worked just fine.
One problem that I have with them is that when I program the 750's and the 450's to channel 5 and ctcss 5 the 450's receive the signal from the 750's but the 750's will not receive signals from the 450's. All four radios will talk and receive if programed with no ctcss or with same channel and ctcss #1 but not some of the other ctcss codes. I am a little perplexed with this situation and will pursue this further. Mean while these radios work well and one just has to be sure that all the radios in the group will in fact work with each other and not take for granted that using the same channel and ctcss code will always work. I will be contacting Midland to see if I can get a resolution to this incompatability issue. Was this review helpful?

A very nice set of 2 way radios. Paid my $85 for the License. Don't count on 30 miles within a city, but they are adequate for most reasonably ranged communications. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Feature Rich, Best Performance Monday, September 15, 2008 CrosbyPC from Bronx, NY
These HT's have lots of features and great performance. By far the most powerful units we have found. Great sound quality, good price. The 26 mile range is not to be believed but still the range is better than many others. May get 26 miles if it is going over flat land or water, but we could only get about 7 miles here in the city. If you can find them for around $50 then buy them! Was this review helpful?

The radio works very well, better than others I have. However in my experience, it only reaches apprxomately 1-2 miles in distance, not the 26 miles advertised. Was this review helpful?
