4 of 5 Worth the Money! Monday, May 25, 2009
arata from east hartford, ct

Great little keyboard, not to loud, not to silent. Not having lights that acknowlwdge when num lock or cap lock is on can be a disadvantage.

5 of 5 Good, sturdy and value for money Saturday, August 16, 2008
Parakh from Seattle
I use this Keyboard with my laptop as laptop keys are not good for development purpose and I wanted a traditional laptop to get work feeling. Whats more it comes with wireless mouse I hvn't started using it but I use the same keyboard in office and mouse behavior was not good sometime(now i use a USB mouse). still an excellent kbrd. Highly recommend for people who want something that work long enough has a brand name and value for money. my 4 1/2 due to minor mice issue.

4 of 5 Good Value Wednesday, January 16, 2008
A Customer from Chicago, IL
Keyboard and mouse work well. Issues are lack of range (need the receiver quite close, though it's small enough that it's not a big problem) and strange layout of page up/down, delete, etc. Like all the customizable buttons.

5 of 5 Nice features great value Friday, November 30, 2007
Way from Michigan
Purchased for my daughter, easy set up nice shortcut buttons on keyboard plus the keyboard and mouse both use double a batteries (some manufacturers use triple a and they don't seem to last very long). I'm very pleased with the purchase.

5 of 5 Great Buy! Wednesday, September 26, 2007
LL from Brea, CA
I have found both the mouse and keyboard to be a great buy. The keys are a little on the louder side when typing; however, I personally don't mind it.

5 of 5 Keyboard and mouse work quite well Monday, August 13, 2007
A Customer from Tallahassee
We bought this for an employee. As she would discover new things that it would do, you'd hear her saying how great the keyboard was. The mouse is good too. I had a chance to use her desk and used these for about a week. I really liked them. Not enough to go away from my track ball, but they were easy to use with nice features.

5 of 5 Nice package Monday, August 06, 2007
Rob from Louisa, VA
These work as expected. I thought the "extra keys" on top "My Docs", "My Pics", "My Music", "Mute", etc. would be a waste but find them helpful, too. I thought I'd miss my third mouse button from my old Logitech optical but the wheel can be clicked like a third button. Sweet...

2 of 5 Shortcut keys don't work the first time Thursday, May 17, 2007
A Customer from Corona Del Mar, CA
I use shortcut keys all the time and the CTRL-C,X,Z,V do not always work the first time which is extremely annoying. Sometimes it doesn't work the second or third, etc either. The only sure way to copy something you want for pasting later is to right click with the mouse and select copy.

5 of 5 Kick your feet up.. Thursday, April 19, 2007
Olive from Washington, DC
...and relax as you're typing emails or that report that's due (that's probably the only relaxing you're gonna get with this productive duo). I've had no worries with my first purchase from a year ago so when I needed another keyboard (purchased a laptop with a docking station) and mouse I came back to what works and purchased a second one! OK it took me a little while to figure out that "F-lock" thing but that's my own fault (didn't read the manual or even load the software so I could have online help). You'll get over that quickly. The BIG upside is that it works right out of the box on my systems (running windows XP on 'em both). Bottom line....you wont be sorry

5 of 5 Great Value Purchase Tuesday, January 02, 2007
A Customer from Austin, TX
The box includes 4 Energizer AA batteries, not the usual cheapos you see with other manufacturers. My only criticism of the unit is that the keyboard has a slight delay between the time you type and the time the words appear on the page. The mouse is also a little sensitive out-of-box (but that can be adjusted). I also swear by Microsoft peripherals -- I've had nothing but good luck with their mice and keyboards.

5 of 5 Great product Friday, October 13, 2006
A Customer from Millbury, MA
This combination wireless keyboard and mouse is better than I expected! In fact, I like this keyboard much better than my "wired" keyboard: very nice touch. Batteries seem to be lasting quite a long time, also. I would recommend this to all.

4 of 5 Not bad for the money Thursday, October 12, 2006
A Customer from Three Rivers, MI
I have had this now for about 6 weeks. I absolutely love having the mouse and keyboard being wireless. Easy set-up. I could never go back to a wired one. This set-up is good for the money and works well. No issues with the keyboard. The mouse scroll is so-so. I have tried different settings but it often will not scroll for several clicks before it starts working. It is fine for internet, general computer work and emailing but would not recommend it for any kind of gaming. Considering the great price from Buy.com I am very happy with it.

3 of 5 Not a perfect product yet Friday, October 06, 2006
cj from Gresham
I would use this wireless to save all the wire issues. Keyboard isn't bad at all but I don't like the mouse. It won't resopnse or skip once a while. I am not sure if this is caused by wireless communication issue or what. I do use mouse more often than the keyboard. Battery life is good so far for 1st 2 weeks of use (this is the most I am concern of for a wireless system).

5 of 5 Great Deal for the Money Tuesday, September 26, 2006
Aaron from Redding, CA
This was a great deal for both a keyboard mouse. The only complaint I have so far is that a dialog box keeps coming up on the screen saying that the mouse is out of battaries. This was happening on the second day that I set it up. However, this has not got in the way of the performance of the mouse or keyboard which have been just as expected. I also love the hot keys on the keyboard. Just the right amount. Some keyboards try to put too many this is just right.

5 of 5 Works great Thursday, July 27, 2006
Carl from Chicago
I just needed a simple keyboard without all the extra buttons or curved shape and this did the job. If I didn't know, I wouldn't even notice it was wireless based on its performance and that is exactly what I needed (& at a great price!).

2 of 5 Should have known better than to try Microsoft Friday, March 10, 2006
A Customer from Los Angeles, CA
Woe to Microsoft, and to all of us who desire a wireless desktop for less than $60. The Standard Wireless Optical Desktop set provides the consumer with a decent "multimedia keyboard" which works well unless you're a power user or work with text a lot. I don't look at my keyboard very often, so when I first set up the keyboard I assumed it worked like any other keyboard. So imagine my surprise when I pressed "End" and instead deleted the character to the right of the cursor. It took me almost a minute to actually look down at the keyboard and realize that the six buttons between the letter keys and the numeric keypad had been changed to five buttons and completely rearranged in a completely counter-intuitive manner. I was also consistently confused about when my function keys were enabled and when they were in the "enhanced functionality" mode (which doesn't seem to work very well with non-Microsoft applications).
But I might have been able to overlook the minor blunders with the keyboard. It was responsive and allowed me to place the keyboard in my lap if I wanted. But I soon discovered the mouse was not as precise or responsive as the wired mouse I was accustomed to using. When you are used to being able to move the mouse to precisely the pixel you want every time, anything that is inaccurate by even a few pixels is incredibly frustrating.
Setting up the hardware and interfacing with the software is easy enough, but ultimately with input devices the performance is all that matters, and in that respect the Microsoft Standard Wireless Optical Desktop falls flat on its face. If you can't afford an expensive wireless setup, you'd better learn to deal with the wires.

5 of 5 I'm unwired and completely hooked Thursday, February 02, 2006
A Customer from St. Louis MO
The freedom from wires is truly wonderful, especially if you have a small desk. The keyboard is light and compact so I can just pick it up and set it aside. I don't even have to keep it on a pullout tray if I don't want to! I love that, especially when I just need to occasionally hit a button or a key while working on something. I love that I can type on any surface from any angle. I love the programmability of the various keys (for example, I don't instant message, so I reset the instant message key to a save key.) The mouse could be a little lighter to click, but it's not bad. I love that I don't need a mouse pad; I can mouse on any surface. I love that it has the snap to feature that takes the cursor to the default yes or no in most dialogue boxes. I love that I can scroll in 8 directions: up, down, side to side and diagonal. I'm going to get one for my home computer. Good product; high value for the money.

4 of 5 Great buy for the price. Thursday, October 13, 2005
A Customer from Jamica, New York
The Microsoft Standard Wireless Optical Desktop Keyboard & Mouse USB, is a great buy for the price. The installation was a breeze, and the USB connection is great especially for laptop users who do not have a PS/2 connection. The only flaws that I see is that neither the keyboard nor the mouse have an on/off switch, however, it is said that the average battery life is around six months, and the mouse buttons have to be pressed slightly harder in order to click on an icon.
