1 of 5 Badly needs upgrading Sunday, August 17, 2008 Buy.com customer from Pensacola, FL
I got the 2008 version of Streets & Trips just to replace the out-of-date maps. The older version worked just fine, but the new version is badly flawed. Here is one example of a problem I noticed the day I installed the software: Streets & Trips tells me a trip from Little Rock to Fort Smith (both in Arkansas) is 289.5 miles, but it's really only 158 miles. Streets & Trips missed it by 131 miles. That's a pretty big error on a trip so short. Additionally, it routed me through Oklahoma. (For those unfamiliar with basic geography, there's no need to go into Oklahoma if you're going from Little Rock to Fort Smith.) I also noticed another error that almost got me seriously lost trying to get to the Holiday Inn at the Portland Airport. Microsoft should offer upgrades to this program with fixes for the routing errors or refund the money to the buyers. Gooogle Maps provides much better results without having users pay for the privilege. It would be great if there was an off-line version of it. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Significant improvements over S&T 2005 Wednesday, April 09, 2008 Kenneth C. Kopsco from Newtown, CT
This is my third version of S&T and the additional features are noticeable and useful. What's especially nice is that the GUI remains the same as the last version so it is easy to use right out of the box. I use S&T to arrange my customer meetings that span several states and this product enables me to coordinate schedules easily. This capability is not available on my Garmin GPS. What I wish for would be a way to plan my trip on S&T then save it on the SD card and then import it on the Garmin GPS. Running a computer in the car is just unsafe and impractical. The route planner is better and gives more choices.
Informational update on Midwest, finally.
Easy as always to use, when you get use to it. Was this review helpful?

After installing 3 times to finally get the install to complete the program refused to run, giving me an error about not enough memory.
Since I have 2GB RAM and about 200GB or empty hard drive space I doubt the error message is correct. Running WinXP Pro SP2 and I have been using computers since 1980 so I have a pretty good idea what I am doing.
Be aware that the 2008 version will install the .NET framework and text-to-speech programs even if you do not want them.
Would not uninstall automatically, I had to uninstall by hand and found about 60 entries in the Registry that it had added.
I doubt I will be able to return since it is software so this is just wasted money for me. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Works great Wednesday, November 28, 2007 nwtraveler469 from Prineville, Oregon
Had a GPS reciever from previous version, so I only purchases the minimum package.. Works good, but don't totally rely on it. I travel the western states (Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, UTAH, and California). Once in while, it points me to a VERY wrong location for the address ie farmers crop land, wrong end of town, etc. Just be aware of this glitch, i imagine that addresses will eventually get resolved.
