4 of 5 MS Office 2007: A Sweet Suite (With a Kink Or Two Monday, February 25, 2008

MS Office has come a long way since it's not-so-humble beginnings on the Windows platform back in 1990. My only problem (so far) is with the performance concerning MS Outlook: I have a high-performance system that gets bogged down while starting up this portion of the suite. Video and keyboard functions freeze and jitter while this behemoth loads and sticks it's fingers into every orifice of your RAM. Once it's loaded, your system returns to normal...I suggest leaving Outlook running. All other programs in the suite perform very well, although it will take some time to get used to the new toolbar riboon common to all of the programs. It's been about 3 weeks and I miss the old quick shortcuts. You can teach an old dog new tricks. Performance gets a 4: it takes to long to load MS Outlook. Value gets a 4: you can run a mini version of NASA on this software. Ease of Use gets a 4 also: work your way through the new menu ribbon and you've got it made. Overall Satisfaction gets a 4: clean up MS Outlook and most of these numbers become a 5.
