Had a Logitech webcam that was about 9 years old. I wasn't even using it anymore. Bought this just because it was new and HD. To my surprise it's HOT!!!!! I love this thing set it up and it does the rest itself. Picture quality is great. I'm using Skype and having a great time playing with this device. The install was straight forward.

Driver and basic Software was snap to install on WinXP and Windows 7. Installation of Windows Live Call is optional. Worked fine with Skype and Yahoo. No HD mode in Skype though (skype issue). The picture quality is outstanding. The Auto focus is quick. The stand is flexible so it can be mounted on any surface. The cable is long which is helpful. Does not overload the system that much. Overall very satisfied.

I was given this cam as a gift and I was blown away by it's ease of use, sleek looking simplistic design and most of all, video quality. This cam is currently connected a HP Pavilion Elite and works just as well on a lower end and older PCs. For those who love to video chat, THIS is the cam right for you!

This webcam was just great! Plugged in my Windows 7 ultimate and it started working like a beauty. Downloaded all drivers and softwares on its own. The image quality was excellent even in low light. I also tried recording an Audio with inbuilt microphone .. and the results were really good with minimum noise... The Video recorded at maximum 720p resolution was again great with crisp picture and audio. 5 stars.

First, as others have mentioned, if you don't have sufficient computer power behind it, NO web-cam is going to work smoothly for you. Much less in higher resolutions. That being said,.. for ME, this is hands-down the best web cam I've owned (and I've been through plenty.) Pros: Installation is a snap. Nothing to it. The software is well-behaved, simple, and effective. Excellent mike. Nice long cord. Simple, versatile and effective mount. For a web-cam in this price range, it's just outstanding. It's cute! (in a Manly sort of way, of course) Cons: REALLY Needs a software option to support external mike, although the built-in mike is well above standard for a web cam. On my system, capture is smooth an flawless at all resolutions, in any light. (quad-core processor, XP-pro, 4 gigs.) I get best results with auto-focus off, and all setting done manually. But that's always the case with me. I'm a "tweaker". Hints: Turn the auto-focus off, and manually focus all the way in, and the close-focus is an amazing 1/2 inch or so, and crystal clear. Hold a penny or somehting up to the lens and try it. Good stuff.

First, a little about my system. I've got a Dell Inspiron 350 Desktop running Windows 7 Enterprise with an Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400 processor and 8GB of DDR2 PC-6400 RAM. I'm a network sceurity/network admin double major and use this cam for class projects and online coursework in addition to personal use. From the initial unboxing I've been very impressed with this cam in every possible aspect. The video and still photos are fantastic and audio is very clear in self tests and according to the other side of several Skype video chats I've tried. The installation was a snap even on the new OS, which I've been running since well before the public release of 7. I don't have any issues with lag, and the interface is very easy to use. So easy, in fact, that I'm buying a few more of these for my family out of town so we can video chat using Skype. They're all somewhat technically challenged but this cam is definitely user-friendly enough for anyone to set up and run quickly and effortlessly. I'm also using the mic for Windows Speech Recignition, and control Media Center from my couch using the software. Keep in mind, though, Speech Recognition is a Windows feature not included with the cam. But if you've got Vista or 7 you'll have it installed in the OS and you can select the cam as the default mic. The design of the cam is very solid, with a very professional appearance. It sits on top of my widescreen monitor and looks pretty classy, unlike some other webcams that look like they were picked out of the bargain bin at Toys-R-Us. I definitely recommend this cam, and Buy.com's price is a steal!

To KEN from HOUSTON: In your review you mentioned that Logitech's top webcam needs to have its low-light thing reset every time you turn on your computer. You are mistaken. Logitech has a feature called "Right-Light" to handle low-light conditions. You can click on a check box that keeps this feature enabled all the time! The Logitech model also has a ZOOM feature, and it has a FACE-TRACKING feature so the camera can follow you if you move around, and it has the widescreen High-Def feature, too. Logitech charges a higher price for these and other features. You pays your money and you takes your choice! One other point may be important, too. Using any webcam in High-Def widescreen mode requires more computing power so this feature only works well with very fast dual-core and quad-core computers. Older, slower computers can still get nice results using the standard almost-square screen setting.

Camera produces high quality video, easy to use. Works great with Skype, but the supplied software application does not recognize the camera (running Windows XP). Since I am not planning to use it, it is not a big deal. Also, attachemnt holder is not reliable. Overall, great camera.

this is a must buy those looking for a great web cam the quality is just great used it on windows live messenger looks awesome this is really worth the buy I'm using windows vista ultimate works fine on it

WHEN I PURCHASED THIS CAM I WAS NOT EXPECTING IT TO BE AS GOOD OR EVEN BETTER THAN THE LOGITECH 9000 WEBCAM. THIS CAM IS SO EASY TO USE AND HASSLE FREE. COMPARED TO THE LOGITECH 9000 WEBCAM, THIS CAM IS EASE OF USE AND YOU DON'T HAVE TO KEEP ADJUSTING THE SETTINGS LIKE THE LOGITECH 9000 WEBCAM, WHICH I OWN ALSO. WHAT I LIKE BEST ABOUT THIS WEBCAM IS IT AUTOMATICALLY ADJUST TO LOWLIGHT SETTINGS UNLIKE THE LOGITECH 9000, WHICH YOU HAVE TO MANUALLY ADJUST THE SETTINGS FOR LOW LIGHT EVERY TIME YOU TURN ON YOUR PC, WITH THE LIFECAM HD, THE SETTINGS STAY WHERE YOU PUT THEM WHEN YOU TURN BACK ON YOUR PC. I LOVE THIS CAM AND IT HAS THE EDGE OVER LOGITECH'S BEST WEBCAM WHICH IS THE LOGITECH 9000. SO FAR I CAN NOT SAY ANYTHING BAD ABOUT THIS WEBCAM IT PERFORM EXTREMELY WELL IN HD QUALITY. I USE IT ON SKYPE, AND IT WORKS VERY WELL BEYOND MY EXPECTATIONS. SO MICROSOFT FINALLY GOT IT RIGHT THIS TIME WITH A BETTER WEBCAM. I AM PLEASED WITH THIS ONE, SO GO AND BUY YOU ONE YOU WILL BE HAPPY WITH IT.
